My group chose to reenact Act 3, Scene 1 because we thought that it was one of the most important scenes in the entire play. In this scene, Caesar is stabbed to death, and we turned it around a little bit, and made it so Caesar died of a heart attack. In this scene, Shakespeare reveals Cassius’ true personality. In Act 3, Cassius talks Brutus, Cinna, and others into setting up a plot to kill Caesar. This scene shows why Cassius is the main conspirator, when he convinces the others to do wrong. Scene 3 just points out how power hungry Cassius is, because he is willing to kill his king, just to crown himself.

I chose Will Smith in Fresh Prince of Bel Air to play Cassius because they are the same in some ways. First of all they are both good, smart people, but they are always up to no good. Both Will, and Cassius are always talking people into doing bad things just to get what they want. Around people, they always have a plan for everything. Both men have good people skills, but they are constantly scheming and plotting their next move. They both use their slick talking, and smooth style to convince others to go along.

A difference between the two is motivation. Although the do the same thing, one has motivation, and the other doesn’t. Cassius plans the killing, because he is selfish, and power hungry and he wants to be king more than anything. In “Fresh Prince,” Will just does what he does to make his Uncle mad, or to be funny.

From portraying Cassius in my group audio, I learned more about his personality. Before I did this, I didn’t realize how self- centered and selfish he was. When we finished I thought to myself, “What a chump. He’s the one that deserved to die, not Caesar.” I was astonished that one would go that far, by killing his/her king just to get what he wants, the throne.
