| "What's wrong?" He handed her a towel to dry her face. "Nothing, why?" She dryed her face and threw the towel onto the counter. "You were crying, why?" He sat on the bed as she laid back down. "I have no idea what you are talking about. Could you leave? I need some rest." "I'll leave when you tell me what's wrong." She sighed, she knew when she was fighting a losing battle. "Ok, you wanna know?" "Yeah." "Ok, now don't feel sorry for me. Promise?" He nodded his head and she continued. "Ok, almost two years ago I got engaged." She saw his face turn to shock and stood to pace the room. "He was a navy man, that's why I moved here. On his second patrol, last March, the boat had a hydrolic problem and he went to fix it. He never came back," she paused to look at Justin. "Please don't look at me like that. I don't need your simpathy, I don't need Angie walking around on eggshells in March. I need to get over it. March is just hard, my brithday, his birthday, and the day he died are all in March. But I will get over it." He didn't seem convinced. "I will get over it. This March I am going to be better." "I would understand if you weren't." He walked to her and pulled her into his arms. It was an uncomfortable situation, but he knew he could get through it. "Ok," she tried to continue but he shushed her. "No, no more, you don't have to explain anything to me." He ran his fingers through her hair, mostly to keep her from lifting her head and walking away. To his dismay she lifted her head and took a few steps back. "I am going to get some sleep, you are welcome to one of the guestrooms." She began to walk down the hall to show him to a room. "No thanks, I would hate for you to see me in the morning. I am not the nicest person. I'll meet you at the shop tomorrow." He kissed her on her forehead then excused himself. I knew it. Why in the hell did I tell him? I knew he'd freaking flip out. She threw herself onto the bed. It was just too much in one day to deal with. A popstar running from you like a small child because of your past. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Hey Angie, any calls?" She threw the mail onto the counter. "No, how was your night?" "Great, but don't be surprised if you never see Justin again." She turned to walk away. "Why not?" Angie stopped what she was doing to listen. "I told him and he ran away like a four year old." "Told him? Like told him about Jacob?" "Yeah." She said nonchalanty as she looked through the mail. "Don't forget Bound is coming in today." "I won't. I'll be in my office." "Ok, bye bye." Angie couldn't believe she had told him. She hadn't spoke about it or Jacob since the funeral. Michelle walked into her office and threw herself into her chair. Why had she told him? She knew that he would be freaked out, but she never listened to herself. After looking through the mail for the fourth time and still not seeing it, she threw it onto her desk. It was eight in the morning, she still had four hours until the band came in. She went over invetory, sales, and recording times before the clock hit nine. The morning was dragging by and she would have a heart attack if it didn't speed up. At least she felt like she would. She still had to get her car from Justin's house. She called a cab and hoped he was still asleep. He had said he wasn't a morning person. She excused herself from the shop and met the cab out front. "Hello, here is the address." She handed the man a piece of paper with the address written on it. Hopefully this would keep him from asking her again. "Ok." He pulled away from the curb. She had the man drop her off at the end of the driveway because she was afraid the car may wake up Justin. She quietly made her way up the driveway and to her car. She pressed the unlock botton on her keychain as she scanned the yard for any sign of Justin. She slipped into her car and slid the key into the ignition and turned it just enough to give power to the radio. She turned off the radio before the sound had time to reach the speakers. She regretted Jacob getting the loud tail pipe attached to the back of the BMW as she slid the car into first. She pulled the clutch up just enough for the car to roll forward, while abstaining from pushing the gas petal for fear the roaring engine would catch Justin's attention. Justin watched through the blinds as her car disapeared onto the road. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Hello, and welcome to the studio." She greeted the girls of Bound. A round of shy hellos were returned to her and she showed them into the booth. "Anytime you are ready just tell me." The girls collected themselves then gave her the word. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Hey we didn't expect to see you again." Angie teased as she set a box on the counter and eyed the teddy bear on his hands. "You didn't?" He raised an eyebrow. "She didn't after she told you." She decided this was more important than the purpose of the bear. "Oh why not?" He tilted his head to the side in confusion. "She thought it would scare you away." She hoped to end the conversation soon. She didn't want Michelle to over hear them and get upset. "Did it happen before?" "No she has never told anyone, except family, and her close friends." "Oh." "Can I ask you a question?" She waited for him to nod. "Why did she tell you?" "She was crying and I asked her what was wrong." "Wow and she just told you?" "She made me promise not to feel sorry for her." "Well she's in the studio now, should be done soon." "Ok, I'll be in her office." He turned away from the conversation feeling better than he had in years. She had trusted him with a secret she had kept for a year. He threw himself into a chair and spun around once. He looked down at the midnight blue teddy bear and rehearsed what he would say. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Ok, girls, that was great. I will have your CD ready Monday, you can pick it up anytime." She waved one last time and made her way to her office. "Oh, hi." She was thrown off by Justin's presence. "Hi, how'd the recording go?" He quickly put the teddy bear behind his back as he stood to great her. |
