She ducked into her office, finally feeling safe, she had made it to her office without running into JC. The night before, after they had kissed, he had quickly left, with nothing more than a good bye. She tucked her purse under the desk, pulling the keyboard out. Contimplating writing a short note to JC, she decided not to, and threw herself into her work for the day. At least for a few minutes, before she had finished the first line, Justin entered the room, perching himself in his normal position.
"Sore?" He leaned over to look at the computer screen, nearly bumping her head.
"Not really, you?" She turned the monitor to allow him access to the screen, receiving a smile as a reward.
"No, never. How about working out again tonight? Same place same time." He turned the screen back to her, satisfied with what it contained.
"Sure, I have a free personal trainer." She set a hand on his knee, indicating it was him she was talking about.
"Good, how about we get dinner afterward, my treat?"
  "Sounds good."
"Good, and your going to lunch with me again."
"No, I can't Justin, I'll be busy today." She stood quickly, knowing she couldn't face JC in the cafeteria.
"Was the food that bad? How about we order in, eat here? You can work while we eat." He stood to match her stance, he knew he'd get his way, he always did.
"Yeah, we can order in. Come by when you are ready for lunch." She bit her lip, wanting to tell him not to invite JC, but chose not to, hopeful he wouldn't anyway.
"Good, I better get down to the studio before Daddy comes for me." He joked, as he left the room, shutting the door behind him.
"Yeah, none of us want 'Daddy' here." She looked at the closed door, fearful it would open to reveal JC at any minute. She began her work again, sure that the guys would begin recording soon, and JC wouldn't be able to interrupt her. Before she knew it, Justin was ordering pizza while she tidied her desk.
"Be here soon." Justin sat the phone back into it's cradle, taking a seat in the chair.
"Long day?" She sympathized, she had spent the whole day avoiding JC, who she assumed was doing the same.
"Yeah, Slavemaster JC was incredibly hard." He threw a hand over his eyes in mock dispair.
"Poor baby." She stood, rounded the desk, and rubbed his shoulders for him.
"I like that. I may have lunch with you everyday." Justin rolled his neck, stretching the muscles to increase the pleasure.
"If I keep working out with you, you'll be rubbing my shoulders." She slid her hands closer to his neck, rubbing at the base of his neck.
"Uumm hhhmmm." Slowly his eyes closed, making the visual distractions disappear.
"Justin, you have to stay awake." She whispered into his ear, causing his eyes to pop open at her closeness.
  "I'm awake, don't stop."
"Ok, I have to get some work done." She said nearly twenty minutes later, then returned to her desk.
"Meanie, I was enjoying that." He repositioned himself, setting his hands on the edge of the desk, much like JC had done less than twenty four hours ago.
"I'll finish later." She tried to ignore his hands, letting her eyes wander to his eyes.
"You better." He playfully ordered, trying to ease her of the nervousness taking over her. He figured it to be because of how close they had just been.
"I promise, babe." She shifted through some papers, then read over a memo Johnny had sent her. "We have a meeting tomorrow."
"Yeah, you're going to be there?" Justin stood to look at the paper in her hand.
"Yeah, will the whole band be there?" She should have known she wouldn't be able to avoid JC that easily, it just didn't work out that way. He would be everywhere she turned with her luck.
"Of course." He opened the door for the pizza man, allowing him entrance to the room. After he had been paid and tipped, the man left them to themselves.
"Very good idea Justin." Brianne took a bite of the pizza, then added. "I'll run to the soda machine, want anything?"
"Yeah, I'll come with you." He stood, leading her out the door. To her surprise JC was already at the machine, slipping his change into it.
"Hi." He greeted them, pulling his soda from the compartment.
"Hi." They replied together, Brianne slipping around him to face the machine, fearful to look into his eyes.
"Bri, can I talk to you for a minute sometime?" JC waited for her to turn around, longing to look into her eyes once more.
"Yeah, how about when you get done in the studio?" She walked around him again, looking at Justin to keep her eyes from JC.
"Sounds good." JC left, tired of fighting for her attention.
"Uh oh, you're in trouble." Justin teased as he slid his change into the machine, looking over his choices.
"I hope not." She slid her finger over the lid of the can, trying to keep the conversation light.
"Well come on, I only have a couple more minutes." Justin grabbed her arm, leading her back to her own office as if she didn't know the way. They finished their lunch in near silence, Brianne running over what she would say to JC when she was face to face with him.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey." JC let himself into the room, taking a seat in a chair, as he watched her stiffen with anxiety.
"Hi." Brianne kept her eyes on her work, avioding JC's eyes.
  "About last night.."
"I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me." She turned her attention to the computer, trying to appear busy.
"Yeah, sorry." JC dropped his arms in his lap, wanting to take her in his arms again, but letting her words run through his head.
"Well, as long as we agree, I think we should just try to forget." She let her head fall back on the rest, thinking of how it would be to be JC's girlfriend. Would he be sweet like his kiss, or harsh like before? She glanced up at JC, his lips were moving, but she couldn't focus on what was being said. Those arms, what would it be like to be wrapped in those arms?
"Brianne, can you hear me?" JC stood, waving an arm in front of her opened eyes.
"Yeah, sorry, what were you saying?" She turned a light shade of pink, fearful he would know what she was thinking.
"I was saying that maybe it wouldn't be so bad, you know, if we.." JC backed away a couple inches, feeling a little too close to her for comfort.
"We?" She slid her chair away from him a few inches, also uncomfortable with his breath hitting her as it was.
"Had dinner, what are you doing tonight?"
"I am working out with Justin, and having dinner." She ran a finger along the edge of the desk, letting his words run through her head once more.
  "Ok, maybe tomorrow."
