| "Jace, back away from me." She warned, stepping backward to keep her distance. "Jaden, I won't hurt you." He said, still walking closer to her position back stage. "Jace, I'll scream, and Justin will come.." "And laugh his ass off when I get my hands on you." He finished calculating his next move. "Jace, I helped you get Joey." She reminded, still taking steps back as he walked toward her. "I know, and I didn't tell him you helped." He said, still holding the water gun toward her. "You have a show, go get dressed." Trying to sound convincing she held her arms toward the changing room. "I am dressed." He called, suddenly distracted by the fact she would think he wasn't ready. Was there something wrong with what he was wearing? "Oh," catching his moment of weakness, she looked over him, causing him to do the same. Then she jumped at him taking the water gun from his grasp, and ran toward the safe haven of the changing room. JC at her heels, she ran into the room and ducked behind a shirtless Justin. "What are you doing?" Justin questioned seconds before JC entered the room, a determined look taking his face. "Justin move so I can kill her." He ordered playfully as Justin thought over his options. "Don't move baby, he's mean." Jaden's breath hit his neck as she peeked around him at JC. "You have a water gun, shoot him." Justin moved from between them. "No, he's in his stage clothes, I don't want to get them wet." She held the water gun up to JC, sure he would keep his distance. "That's nice of you, but I still have to get you for this morning." JC growled, reaching for the gun, just as Jaden pulled it out of reach. "No you don't, I've learned my lesson." "I'm not sure you have." JC threw her an uncertain look, while she contimplated unloading the water gun on him. "You're right, I haven't." She retorted, finally soaking him, while Justin jumped away from the water. As the last few drops hit him, she ran to the VIP box, leaving him to change his clothes. Twenty minutes later the guys were singing and dancing on stage, hitting every note and step perfectly. To Jaden's horror, the guys went onto the floating stage, moving feet above the audience. Normally this wouldn't scare Jaden, except on this day Justin laid down to shake hands with the fans. Justin's fingertips grazed the fan's, as the children reached as high as they could to touch the popstar. Knowing he shouldn't be that close to the fans without security, he began to lift himself, losing his balance, and fell into the crowd. Jaden watched as the crowd swelled around him, girls running from all over the arena to get a look at Justin. The next hour went in slow motion as Justin was retrieved from the crowd, and rushed back stage to be looked at by a medical professional. Jaden didn't get a chance to see him before Johnny pulled her to the guy's bus, then left her to check on Justin himself. Jaden paced the trailer as she waited for the men to return, checking her watch every few seconds. "Hey." The guys called, walking into the trailer without Justin, then raiding the refridgerator for refreshent. "Hey, is Justin okay?" "Think so, he'll be here in a minute. Johnny wanted to talk to him." Chris rubbed her shoulders for a second, then moved for JC to hug her. "I'll kill that boy when I get my hands on him." She said, holding back tears of relief, as JC held her to his chest. "I think he's learned his lesson." JC mumbled into her hair, rubbing her back as he walked her to the back room, so the guys wouldn't see her tears. "He better hope so." She threw herself onto the couch, then wiped her eyes in case any tears had escaped. JC threw a balnket over her, then exited the room without another word. Leaving her to slowly fall asleep, then told the guys to leave her to herself. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Hey cutie." He hovered inches above her ear, letting his nose catch her scent. "Umm." She moaned, turning her head to look up at him, then opened her eyes. "I love you." Justin let his lips meet hers for a brief second, then motioned for her to move over to make room for him. "I love you too, but you scared me tonight." She allowed him access to the couch, feeling much better when he wrapped his arms around her. "I'm sorry, I just wanted to give them what they paid for." Justin ran a hand reassuringly across her back, hoping she wouldn't lecture him. "Justin, you have to be careful. I would hate to see anything happen to you." She burried her head into his chest, holding back the tears that had stinged her eyes all night. "I will, I promise." He stood, leading her to his bunk for a restful night's sleep. "You really scared me." She crawled into the bunk, edging toward the bus wall to leave Justin room. "I know, and I'm sorry." He joined her, pulling her into his arms, hopeful she would give up the conversation. "Were you scared?" She whispered into his chest, running a hand along his side for comfort. "Yeah I was." "Then you've learned your lesson." She teased, hoping to lighten the mood. "Yeah I have. I get it, I'm a dumbass." He slid out of the bunk, leaving her to cry herself to sleep. When morning came she rubbed the dried tears from her eyes, expecting to find Justin next to her. As the memory came to her, she sighed, not sure what she would do. Building up the courage to face him after thinking it over, she searched for him. Finally finding him on a couch in the back room, she shook him lightly. "Justin, I need to talk to you." She demanded, watching his eyes open slightly and his face sour at her presence. "What about?" Rubbing his eyes much like she had minutes before he turned to face her. The anger built up in her as she thought of how she had had to rub away dry tears and he hadn't. "My job." "You are still my personal assistant. No matter what happens between us you will have a job." "That's not what I wanted to know." She informed, letting her hands rest at her hips as she waited for his eyes to open once again. "Then what? I really would like to get some sleep, my job entitles more than sitting on my butt all day." Taking her completely by surprise, she took a step back, steadying herself. "I'm glad you feel that way because I will no longer be working for you. And since I do nothing but sit on my butt all day you should have no problem getting along without me." She turned on her heel, then packed up her things, quickly making her way to the nearest hotel to wait for the next flight home. |
