She flipped through the CDs one more time to make sure she hadn't missed it. After she was certain the CD wasn't there she silently cursed to herself. She debated only buying herself a copy and looking at another store for the copy she had promised Max as she looked down at the last copy in the store in her hands. She finally decided to ask an employee if there were any other copies in the back then she scanned the music section looking for a familiar blue shirt. Her eyes finally ran across a male employee two aisles down with his back to her. She made her way to the aisle he was on, and stood a foot behind him, hoping he would turn around. When he didn't acknowledge her in any way at all, she gently tapped his shoulder. She looked straight into his startled eyes, and second-guessed her decision.
"Could you do me a big favor?" She held the CD up to him; to show what CD she wanted him to search for. Instead of letting her finish, he pulled the CD from her hands and began to unwrap it. "Well, I wasn't going to open it until after I paid for it. I just needed you to check the back for another copy." She pulled the CD from his grasp gently, and looked up into his eyes once more.
"I don't think they would let me back there." Amusement flashed in his blue eyes.
"So I need a stock boy?" She was starting to regret ever coming to him for help.
"No, you need someone who works here." She finally let her eyes wander to where his nametag should have been.
"Oh, I am so sorry, your shirt made me think," she looked up at him. "You know, nevermind, I should really let you get your shopping done and find a real employee."
"No it's okay, really, how about a cup of coffee?" He saw the hesitation in her eyes. "To make up for the mix up."
"Ok, just let me get some real help." She held the CD up to prove her point, then walked off without another word. Five minutes later she returned with another copy of the same CD, and received some curious looks from her companion.
"You done?" He was still staring at her selections and she felt obligated to explain.
"Yeah, one's for me, and one's for a friend. I am not that crazy about Linkin Park. We've both had trouble finding the CD and promised to get the other a copy if we found it." She hoped he would understand and not think she was absurd.
"Ok, I get it now, to the registers?" She nodded her head then began walking toward the cashiers, and marveled at their ability to look so happy, when she knew they had to be miserable
"I didn't catch your name." She turned to face him.
"Oh, sorry, my name is Justin." He held out his hand for her.
"Jaden." She took his hand, flipped her wrist, then released it.
"You go to school?" He tried to make conversation.
  "No graduated, you?"
  "Me too."
"Hi, did you find everything okay?" The twenty something cashier greeted Jaden.
  "Yes. Thank you."
"Your total is thirty-two seventy-one." Jaden reached into her back pocket and pulled out her credit card and driver's license, then handed it to the lady. the lady checked the ID and credit card to make sure the names matched, then up at Jaden and the picture. when she was satisfied she ran the card and had Jaden sign the sales receipt. After she had obtained her purchases she patiently waited for Justin to pay for his.
"Thank you." Justin acquired his bag, and joined Jaden.
"Have a nice day." Jaden called to their cashier before leading Justin to the parking lot.
"Where's your car?" He looked around the nearly deserted parking lot.
"That one." She pointed to white Jetta with blue designs running along each side. "You follow me, I know a great coffee shop."
