Chapter Eighteen
He woke when she pushed herself from him forceably with her hand on his stomach, knocking the breath out of him. He reached for her in the dark, finding her body on the other side of the bed. He cuddled up to her, laying his hand across her stomach from behind. Just before he was about to fall back into slumber, a series of noises, best described as moans, met his ears.
"Bri, are you okay?" He rubbed a hand along her side, trying to lightly wake her.
"Uuumm." Opening her eyes, she looked down at her body, thankful to find it in one piece, then to JC.
"Are you okay?" His eyes adjusted to the lack of light, and he found her looking back at him, waiting for him to speak.
"I'm fine, I think." She looked over her body once more, then back to him, nodding to show she was fine.
"Come here." He half chuckled, pulling her back to the spot they had fallen asleep in.
"What was that?" She lifted her head from his chest, trying to hear if the sound came again.
"I didn't hear anything." JC whispered, afraid if he spoke too loud she would leap from the bed in surprise.
"Did you hear it that time?"
"No." He shook his head slowly, still straining his ears to hear whatever it was that was making her leave the bed.
"I'll be right back." Two seconds later she was quietly making her way down the stairs, and was happy to find it was only Justin who was making the noise.
"What are you doing up?" He was hovered over the couch, trying to force himself to lay back down although it may hurt.
"I had a bad dream, then I heard you and came to investigate." She helped him lay down, then pulled the blanket over him, taking a seat next to him on the floor.
"Oh, sorry if I scared you, I was just getting something to drink."
"It's fine, you need anything?" She watched as he put his hand with hers, and his eyes turned a deeper shade of blue.
  "You're too good to me."
"Ok, I better get back to JC, sweet dreams, bubba." She pecked his forehead as he got a gleam in his eye.
  "Back to JC?"
"Shut your mouth, or I'll jump on your tummy." She was gone without another word, traveling to the bedroom where JC was anxiously awaiting her return.
  "What was it?"
"Justin was getting a drink." She crawled up to him, cuddling into his lap as he leaned against the headboard.
"Is he okay?" JC rested his cheek on her forehead, after kissing it lightly.
  "Yeah, fine. Are you tired?"
"Not really, actually." He ran his hand along her arm, trying to pull her as close as possible.
"Me either." She picked unconsiously at the top hem of his wife beater, her fingers grazing over his collar bone every few seconds.
"Bri, what would you consider us?"
"Humans?" She threw him the answer she knew he didn't want, not knowing what he was askng, but hoping he would elaborate.
"That's not what I meant. I meant us, like me and you." JC pushed her hair aside so it would not tickle his chin any longer.
"No idea, why?" She let her hand fall to where her leg was against his stomach.
"I was just thinking." He pulled her hand into his, letting his lips brush across it before he continued. "I would like to consider us boyfriend and girlfriend."
"I think I would like that too." She nipped at his collar bone, letting her lips travel to his neck.
"Mmmm, great." He enjoyed her action for a few seconds, then fiercly attacked her neck in return.
"Josh, we should really stop." Putting her hands on either side of his face, she pulled his lips from her neck.
"Yeah." A light pink formed in his cheeks, as he pulled his bottom lip between his teeth.
"You're too cute." They sat in silence for a few minutes, Brianne resting her head on JC's shoulder once again.
"Come with me?" JC waited for no objections, instead he stood, setting her on the floor next to the bed.
"Where to?" She went to her suit case, opening it to look for something to wear.
"It's a surprise, just put on some socks and shoes." He quickly obtained his own socks and shoes, pulling them onto his feet.
"I'm in my pajamas." She was quieted when JC put a finger over her lips, refusing to listen to her arguements.
"Meet me at the front door in ten minutes, change your clothes if you'd like." He left the room, pulling a shirt over his wife beater. Finally she decided that if JC didn't need to change his clothes, she wouldn't either. Instead she grabbed a jacket and threw on her socks and shoes, then made her way to a waiting JC.
  "Ready?"
"Of course." He pulled her arm to rest in his, then led her to the car.
"Are we going to make it out of the driveway?" She was seated in the car and had been for quite a few minutes, with JC not even attempting to make the car move.
"Oh sorry." He pulled from the driveway, and twenty minutes later they pulled into a park. A very beautiful park, sprinkled with weeping willows, flowers of all sorts, and a playground.
  "Wow, it's beautiful."
"Come on." He rounded the car, then helped her from her seat, pulling her to a bench.
"Great idea." She pulled his arm around her shoulders, leaning into him.
  "Thanks, want to swing?"
"Not yet, I just want to sit here." She turned her attention to the stars, JC doing the same.
