| Justin stared at him in disbelief. He looked around at his other friends faces. They were all looking from Joey to him. "I don't think so. I mean she got out of the shower crying and I comforted her. I said something wrong and she got mad. Then she was getting on to me and I was defending myself. Then she just fell- uumm- fainted?" He looked around. They were all shaking thier heads waiting for more. "She kept asking me to leave and I wouldn't. Maybe I made her so mad she fainted. I don't know if that is possible. But maybe." He paused then said just above a whisper. "Or maybe it was a broken heart." He swallowed then continued. "Maybe I should have let her go home. I would have gotten over it eventually. And maybe she wouldn't be here." He spread his arms to prove his point. Lance took the opportunity to hug him. "It's not your fault she's here. She obviously is sick or something." "Yeah." The rest of the guys said in unison. Justin shook his head and opened his mouth to argue. "We don't want to hear it. She's been under some stress, but she will be fine." Joey said for the rest of the guys. The rest of the guys nodded thier heads in agreement. Mike walked into the room and took the seat next to JC. He looked over to Justin. "The doctor is checking her out her. He will be here as soon as he finds out what is wrong." He said with a somber look on his face. He knew she was seriously sick. The guys had passed out onstage before. From the heat or any number of things. But they had always been revivied quickly. Tiffany hadn't even awoken when being carried. He was worried but not just for her. He had never seen Justin look so scared. Not even when packs of hormone driven teeny boppers were running towards him. He had been lost in thought for a while when the doctor walked toward them. He addressed Mike since he had been the one to take her into the room. "She suffered from mental fatigue. It doesn't happen often. But apperantly her mind was trying to process to much lately and it shut down. Has she had a death in the family recently?" "Both of her parents about a two years ago." Everybody looked at Justin as he said this. They had never known. "No I mean within two or three weeks." The doctor clarified. "No, no deaths. But I" His voice dropped. "cheated on her a couple of days ago. We were fighting when she- fainted?" The elderly doctor didn't seem too surprised. He look down at her chart. "Well that may be why." He clicked his tongue. "You say her parents both died a two years ago? At the same time?" "Yeah in a car accident." The guys didn't have faces of surprise this time. They looked hurt for her. "Does she still get upset about it?" The doctor said trying to pinpoint a reason for her fatigue. "Yeah, she blames herself for it." He paused then decided he should explain why. "They were going to get her icecream because she was sick." He said flatly. "How often does she upset about it?" "I don't know, not very often, not that I can tell. But sometimes she stares off into space and I am pretty sure she is thinking about it. It's not as bad as it was when it first happened, I wasn't there, but she says she didn't leave the house for six months." "What made her better?" "Her ex boyfriend broke up with her." "Ok, well, her parents dying, the cheating, and maybe even the ex may have caused this. I am going to refer her to a psychologist. Does she see one already?" "No, and she won't. She won't let this phase her. She tries to act very strong. I mean she is, but she won't let anyone think she is weak, mentally or physically." Justin tried to explain. "Maybe you can help convince her it might be good for her." "I don't know how she would take that." He said almost inaudable. The doctor looked at all the men. "You may be able to help also." "We will try." Joey offered. "You can see her now. She isn't awake, we expect her to be soon. I am going to keep her over night for observation." He led them to the door of her room. "Try not to be too loud. I want her to awake on her own." They nodded thier heads to tell them they would and he walked away. They all stood outside the door while Justin walked in alone. He took one look at her and almost turned around. He slowly made his way to a chair next to her bed. He reached for her hand as he sat down. He took it in his own and marveled at how small it was. He had never noticed before. He figured it was because she always acted so strong. He had never really realized how small and fragile she really was. He tried to put himself in her shoes. If his parents had died, he had lost a girlfriend because of it, and she had just cheated on him, he'd be in the hospital, too. He'd be in the hospital if she had just cheated on him. He kissed her hand softly. "I am so sorry, Angel. I know you probably can't hear me. Oh well, I have to tell you how sorry I am. I didn't know this was affecting you this much. But that doesn't mean I am dissapointed in you. It just means I need to stop falling for your strong act. I need to be more perseptive when it comes to you. But I am trying here. And my new perseptiveness has told me something. I need to let you go home. I can't stand to know that all this stress I am causing has done this to you. I want you to be happy and healthy. I just can't give that to you anymore. I don't think I ever could. I just don't have the right judgement for that." He pause and licked his lips. He looked down at her. "I love you more than you will ever know. I love you enough to know when I am hurting you more than I am helping you." He thought for a minute. "But you aren't leaving until you are well enough to fly." He half demanded half asked. "I love you, I am sure there are more people who want to see you. I'll go now." He kissed her on the forehead then reassured her, "I love you so much, Angel." He walked out of the room and into the hallway. He could see by thier faces that they had heard him talking to her. He blew it off. "Next?" He said holding the door open for JC. JC had the same reaction Justin had had. He wanted to leave. He didn't believe this was her. All the color was gone from her face and there wasn't a smile on her lips. "Hey there." He held her hand. "We don't want you to leave the tour. I don't at least. I can't really speak for the other guys. But I am sure the other guys feel the same way. Don't worry they will be in here later to tell you." He chuckled with very little heart. "We all just found out about your parents. Don't worry, we don't look at you as less of a person because you are here. We still know you could hurt any of us if we doubted you. But we wouldn't do that. Justin loves you with all his heart. And we all love Justin. I better go, Joey is giving me dirty looks, I think he wants his turn. Bye bye." JC walked out as Joey walked in. Joey quickly took a seat. "Hey there, Tiffany, I wanted to talk to you. Man to woman, you know? You aren't leaving, you hear me? Of course not. But I will tell you again when you wake up. And tell you agian and agian until you agree to stay. And if you don't I will kidnap you. OK, I am done, and I think Chris is ready to come in. Bye bye." He gave her kiss on the cheek before leaving. Chris came in and sat down. "Hey, we don't want you to leave-" "Why are ya'll talking to me like I am dying?" She said in a sleepy voice. Chris' eyes almost popped out of thier sockets. "Lemme get Justin." He was gone and Justin was in his place in seconds. "Hi." She looked up at him. "I'm sorry-" "Don't. I am sorry. I was really mean. I just-" "Wanted to leave? You can now. Well not now but when you are better. I am not going to keep you here if it's affecting you physically." She looked up at him as tears brimmed her eyes. |
