| "Bri he's having his appendix out, not brain surgery, sit down." "Josh they said it would take an hour, it's been an hour and a half." She tried to sit down, but only made it half way before standing again to pace the waiting room. "Maybe I should call the guys." He eyed a pay phone on the wall across the room. "No, it's almost midnight, we will call them first thing in the morning." She watched a doctor enter the waiting room, then was dissapointed when he walked past them. "Brianne?" She turned startled to face a young intern, then nodded her head for him to continue. "Justin is asking for you. Follow me." She threw JC an apologetic look then followed the man into a room containing Justin. "BRI!" He held his arms out for her then retracted them when the IV tugged in his arm. "How do you feel?" She looked over him then noticed the goofy grin, obviously the anesthetic was still in affect. "I feel great, thank you for making me come." He ran a hand along the inside of the bed noticing the glow in the dark buttons that controlled the bed and television, as well as one that called the nurse. "Look, buttons." "Yeah, buttons." She leaned over to look down at them, then settled herself into a chair as Justin lifted the bed. "Doctor says I can't work out for a while, sorry sis." "No worries, I can always drag some one else with me." Her words hit Justin's ears and he laughed for a split second before discovering it hurt. "Ouch, no more jokes, it hurts." "I'm sorry, do you need anything?" "No, and if I did, all I do is push this button." His finger came dangerously close to the button and she was sure he would hit it. "Is it okay if Josh comes in?" "Yeah but in a minute, I want to talk to you alone." "What about?" "Your my sister, right?" Justin's face grew serious, and she quickly nodded urging him to continue. "Well I was thinking. You're older than me, but I am obviously bigger than you. So would you be my little sister or big sister?" The serious look on his face, and the true confusion in the words almost made her giggle. "Whatever you want bubba." She put a hand on his and stroked it reassuringly. "Then I'm the big brother, and you tell JC to watch out. I hear big brothers are supposed to be mean to their little sister's boyfriends." Justin's goofy grin returned, and he turned on the television. "I don't think he's my boyfriend, bubba." "Why not?" He flipped through the channels for a few seconds then turned off the television, disatisfied with the lack of entertainment. "I don't know, we just haven't talked about it." "Maybe you should, but for now, bring the bratt in." He waved his hand as if he was royalty, then she left, returning with JC in a matter of seconds. "How're you feeling?" JC sat in a chair, pulling Brianne onto his lap after noticing it was the only one in the room. "I feel great, a lot better than before the surgery." He pointed to his lower abdomen, as if they would be able to see the wound through the blankets, hospital gown, and bandages. "Good, I'll call the guys first thing in the morning to let them know what happened." Brianne shifted her weight uneasily, uncomfortable with sitting on JC's lap. "Sis?" Justin reached for her hand with his, and she took it, waiting for him to finish. "Thanks, I mean it." "No problem, you get some sleep. I'll be here first thing in the morning." She pecked his forehead quickly, then led JC from the room. "Wow, what a day." She let herself fall onto the couch, her head landing in JC's lap. "I know, poor Justin." JC ran a hand through her hair lightly, laying his head on the arm of the couch. "The couch is all yours, I'm going to get some sleep." She pecked his cheek lightly, then left him with a pillow and blanket before making her way up the stairs. Where she slept for not even four hours, before pulling herself from the bed and into the shower. Once she was fully dressed, and her hair had been pulled into a pony tail, she went downstairs to wake JC. After she shook him, a series of noises were exhumed, then his hands met his eyes. "Bri? What time is it?" "Almost seven, I am going to call the guys. Then I am going to the hospital, you can stop off at your house to change and shower." She pulled his cell phone from the coffee table. "Are the guys numbers in here?" "Umm hhmm." He listened as she told the tale three different times, then called the hospital to check on Justin. "Come on sleepy, get up." She perched herself on the edge of the couch, then turned to face him. "How can you be so awake? We didn't get here until after two in the morning." He propped himself onto his elbows planting a kiss on her cheek. "I don't know, I'm weird like that, let's go." She tried to quide him off the couch but he stayed where he was. "Lay down with me for two seconds." He pulled her down with him, holding her to his chest. "Two seconds, that's it." Letting her hand meet his hip, she wondered if she would ever really remove herself from his secure grasp. "Of course, of course." JC ran his hands across her back, hoping she would never leave him. Eventually the time came when she felt the need to pull herself from the couch and to the hospital. "Ok, I really should be going." "Yeah, I need a shower." He reluctantly pulled himself into a sitting position, then pulled his shoes on. "I'll meet you at the hospital." She waved to him once he had gotten into his car, then returned to the house to grab an apple to eat on the way over. |
