We
Are All One Family
Written and arranged by Justine Mayela
Chorus:
We are all one family
All the world should agree to agree
For the earth to survive, we must all realize
That we're all one family
Verse:
Father, mother, daughter, son we hold dear in our hearts
And they are what we call our family
This beginning is the place to learn that we must do our part
To build a world of love and peaceful harmony
Chorus
Our human family widens as our world gets smaller still
We're finding that our race is more diverse
When we share the planet with the others we will be fulfilled
With a new understanding of the universe
Chorus
The animals are also part of our big family
They have feelings and have family of their own
They're not ours to use for our own purpose, listen can't you see?
We must understand that we are not alone
Chorus
We can show care and compassion to all creatures great and small
It's their right, just like ours, to be free
Give them love and give them kindness, they're our family after all
For to change the world it starts with you and me

The Peaceful Kingdom
Written and arranged by Justine Mayela
Chorus:
May you find peace and sanctuary
far from sorrow pain and fear
This peaceful kingdom where you'll live
In beauty that surrounds you here
When you're sleeping, dreaming while
barn swallows sing a lullaby
Your mother's touch will ever be
a memory you were denied
Imagining a kinder world
of gentleness, serenity
Is it impossible to change
illusion to reality
Sometimes we want to give up trying
Then we look into your eyes
Chorus
When you're sleeping, dreaming how
you look so peaceful lying there
It must be comforting to know
That you are safe here in our care
Chorus
Forever honored and revered
And nevermore will you know fear

The Animals Are Free
Written by Neil Kaplan and Justine
Mayela
What's that sound outside my door?
A commotion like I've never heard before
Like thousands have been released
And they're dancing to a marching beat
There's a party in the street
There for all to see
Could it be that finally the animals are free?
The animals are free, the animals are free!
Could it really, really, really be that the animals are free!
The animals are free, the animals are free!
Can't believe my eyes, and what I see
The animals are free
We've hurt them for far too long
I'm glad we've finally learned what's right and wrong
I never thought I'd see the day
Now they've got their freedom, and it's here to stay
So raise the banner high
And dream of what's to be
Yes it's true that finally
The animals are free
The animals are free, the animals are free!
Could it really, really, really be that the animals are free!
The animals are free, the animals are free!
Can't believe my eyes, and what I see
The animals are free
No more leather, no more fur
Ain't goin' back to the way things were
Sing it strong, sing it loud
Everyone is feelin' proud
Fish are free to swim the seas
'Cause freedom's all they really need
Everybody come on out
We're gonna party, sing and shout
Unlock the cages and the chains
Join us as we all proclaim
Could it really, really, really be
That the animals are free?

Vegetablues
Written and arranged by Justine Mayela
It happens lately, every time
I sit down to my lunch
I look around the table
and I see that there's a bunch
of these people starin' at me
Man, there's a multitude
What the heck they think they're doin' to me?
They're all peerin' over at my food!
They said that food looks kinda weird
'Cause it's all raw and green
Instead of eatin' hamburgers
you're eatin' rice and beans
Are you one of them there health-nuts?
Do you drink carrot juice?
When they say, "Don't you know plants have feelings too?"
That's when I get the vegetablues
You got some crazy habits
Don't eat honey from the bees
You eatin' all that rabbit food
an' out there huggin' trees
My mama told me, "Drink your milk,
it's gonna make you strong
You'd better watch it if you say
my mama tol' me wrong!"
Aw, I'm just a lonely vegan and
I got a case of vegetablues
I told them that a healthy plant-based
diet makes more sense
It's full of vitamins and
lots of antioxidants
You'll live longer and feel better
if this is what you choose
When they ask me how I get my protein, oh
That's when I get the vegetablues
"If we stopped raising cows now,
what would happen, do you think?
Why they would surely die
and they would all become extinct
Now what would our country be like
without a cow to moo?"
When they say God made the cows for us to use
That's when I get the vegetablues
You got some crazy habits
Don't eat honey from the bees
You eatin' all that rabbit food
an' out there huggin' trees
My mama told me "drink your milk,
it's gonna make you strong"
You'd better watch it if you say
my mama tol' me wrong
Aw, I'm just a lonely vegan an'
I got a case of vegetablues

Celebration for the Turkeys
Written and arranged by Justine Mayela
The happiest time of the year, they say
A joyful time! The holidays!
Our friends have traveled from far away
to be here on this festive day
The table set with a fine array
So bountiful! Let's not delay!
For all we're thankful for we pray
and bless this meal we share today
No animals were forced to die
Instead we celebrate their lives
For life is precious and profound
Just stop and look around!
We gather here on this holiday
while animals, they romp and play
or sleep together in the hay
We know it's 'sposed to be this way

The Gift
Written and arranged by Justine Mayela
There I sat alone and afraid
You got a call and came right to my aid
You bundled me up with blankets and love
When I needed it most, you gave me a hug
I learned all the world wasn't hostile and cold
You showed me there's someone to have and to hold
With tender devotion you helped me to mend
You healed me and lifted me, you were my friend
I will always remember the time that we shared
And the gift that you gave when you showed that you cared
Wherever you are you'll be close to my heart
You will always remain here although we have to part
I searched in your eyes that were blinking back tears
For answers to why you were leaving me here
When loving arms wrapped all around me I knew
You wanted the best for me, all you could do
Although it is hard for you, you must be brave
You can't keep us all, there are others to save
Since you gave me a new life, I'm never alone
I will treasure the gift of the love that you've shown
Since you gave me a new life, I'm never alone
I will treasure the gift of the love that you've shown

Animals Are My Friends
Written and arranged by Justine Mayela
Chorus:
Animals are my friends, you see
I love them and they love me
It doesn't matter who they be
I have respect for all species
The kindness circle never ends
To all of life our love extends
The animals they are my friends
And I don't eat my friends
We're going to the grocery store
With aisles and aisles of food galore
So we can buy some stuff to eat
For when our friends and family meet
We're gonna have a barbecue
They said "Let's grill a steak or two"
I said that you might think I'm rude
But animals are friends, not food!
Chorus
The summertime is lots of fun
We love to laugh and play and run
We'll have a picnic in the sun
and party 'till the day is done
There's burgers, fries and chicken legs
hot dogs, ham and deviled eggs
They said, "Wow, this is quite a spread!"
But I said, "Wait, this food is dead!"
Chorus
'Cuz animals are friends, not food!

Respect All Life
Written and arranged by Justine Mayela
You say you love every living thing
in the whole universe,
and you hope that one day we
will live in peace on earth
You don't believe in these wars or fighting
Why must there be so much strife?
You wonder why more people cannot value human life
Is there a part of thou shalt not
that you don't understand?
All creatures have the right to live,
not just your fellow man
Every fish swimming in the sea
every bird in the sky
every chicken and cow and pig
they all don't want to die
You wouldn't see a dog or cat
upon your dinner plate
How would you feel if it were you
and someone's meal was your fate?
Show all the world caring and compassion
and everyone who you meet
Respect all life and live with kindness
every time you eat!
Respect all life and live with kindness
every time you eat!

Styrofoam Cup
Written and arranged by Justine Mayela
Today I overheard a conversation
at a table in the coffee shop
about environmental devastation
and how global warming has to stop
One problem could be overpopulation
Soon our resources will be used up
While they talked about the need for conservation
They're drinkin' coffee from a styrofoam cup
You must share the planet, too
Just think about what you can do
Chorus:
Every move and every step you take
will affect the footprint that you make
in a world that's slowly dyin'
All the earth is part of a greater plan
Everyone must do all that they can
We can save it; just start tryin'
They talked about the current situation
How the ecosystem's run amok
The habitat loss from deforestation
Something must be done, they've had enough
The politicians and the corporations
Are at fault because they're so corrupt
While they talked about the need for legislation
They're drinkin' coffee from a styrofoam cup
Chorus
Just think about what you can do

For the Voiceless
Written and arranged by Justine Mayela
Every waking moment, and at nighttime in my dreams
I can hear the voices calling, hear their fearful screams
Scared and lonely, helpless, they are calling out in pain
Wondering if we're listening, or their cries are all in vain
Hauntingly their voices rise
With this mournful plea
"Can't you make them understand?
Please help to set us free"
Small and gentle, innocent, they cannot comprehend
Why anyone would harm them, they have no means for defense
To live their lives as prisoners it all seems so unfair
Day after day, year after year, a lifetime of despair
Desperately their voices rise
And ask imploringly
"Can't you make them understand?
Please end this agony"
Resounding voices calling out, still louder than before
Listen you will hear them too, they're sounds you can't ignore
I will not be silent, not until the voices cease
I will be a voice for them, for those who cannot speak
Deafening, the voices rise
They're crying plaintively
"Can't you make them understand
Please be a voice for me"
"You can make them understand
Please be a voice for me"
