       1.In the 1850s there was the Taiping Uprising in the mainland of China,many people came to Hong Kong to search for peace and order.

       3.In 1911 the Qing Dynasty was overthrown,but the Civil wars continued in China.Hong Kong provided a haven for many Chinese refugees.
