The Fifth

It's a girl! Because Saturday was Michelle's birthday, I offered her the choice of finding out the sex. To explain, I've been keen on being 'surprised' at the birth. Michelle is more on the wanting to prepare side. Anyway, as a birthday present I offered it to her, and she leapt for it.

When we arrived, our usual doctor was busy with a Caesarian section, so his wife saw us. After the usual questions and answers we moved onto the scan. My folks were with us, and my mom was very confident that it was a boy. During the scan (after the measurement of the thighbone) our doctor arrived and took over. Before he would look, or tell us the sex, he asked us to give him our guesses. My mom said boy (she's wanting another grandson), my dad said boy (he was going by the statistics the vast majority of children on my side are boys), I've been saying boy (mainly to offer a balanced view to Michelle), and Michelle has always been saying a girl. The doctor's words were 'Mommies right'. Now I've got to look at investing in a shotgun. Michelle is more worried about paying for her wedding!

This scan shows her face, according to the doctor she has mommies nose, which is probably better. ;) To make it even clearer, I've rotated the picture here.

Otherwise all is progressing well it just seems that the due date is drifting forward. The first date we were given was the 19th of July, the date seems closer to the 13th of July now… This places extra pressure on Michelle, as it's fewer days between term end and the due date. We'll just have to see how that goes.

Our next objectives are to discuss with the place we're considering for the birth, and to arrange anti-natal classes…
