"Who Judges the Judges?"

A TOWN HALL MEETING

to allow the people and diverse communities in Milwaukee and WI  to tell our Senators what we want & expect from our federal judges & nominees, & to help us learn about this selection process.

Both Wisconsin Senators are being invited to hear the views from representatives of key constituencies, and the public will be invited to speak on this important topic.

Only Wisconsin has BOTH U.S. Senators on the Judiciary Committee, which evaluates every federal judicial nominee, and votes on them  -- before they may begin their lifetime appointments. Please join other Wisconsin residents and organizations in learning how this process works and in advising our Senators what we expect from federal judges, from the U.S. Supreme Court to District Judges in Wisconsin.

After the Supreme Court’s intervention to stop the recounting of ballots in the 2000 presidential election, and the attacks of September 11th, the proper role of the courts and status of our rights and freedoms may be more important than ever before. President Bush and the Senate majority have sharp differences regarding who are the best people deserving lifetime appointments to interpret the law, to judge the rest of us and to protect our rights. This will be a chance for us to increase our input into this critical process.
