Top 10 Reasons to Protest Chief Justice William Rehnquist:
10) He asserted
that Pres. Nixon had the unilateral right to wiretap & invade the privacy
of U.S. citizens and residents.
9) He opposes women having the constitutionally protected right to
choose.
8) He wrote a memorandum indicating that racial segregation was
constitutional.
7) He voted to give Bob Jones University tax-exempt status,
despite the university’s discriminatory policy against interracial dating.
Justice Rehnquist was the sole dissent in the 8-1 ruling against the
university.
6) He ruled against state employees’ federal right to sue for
monetary relief from age and disability discrimination.
5) He wrote that political parties could exclude African-Americans
from voting in primary elections.
4) He harassed Hispanic and African-Americans to discourage them
from voting on election day in 1960's.
3) He relentlessly supports the constitutionality of the death
penalty.
2) He disenfranchised thousands of voters when he voted to stop
the 2000 election.
