Have you ever played a game for the first time and found out, half way though the game, you have missed out on many secrets or you are underpowered because of inefficency with the learning of the game. Quick tips provide many tips you may not realise about the game from the begginging to help you enjoy the game to its full extent. Also, many queries and questions are answered without having to search though the long FAQS or waiting for a reply on a message board. Quick tips aims to give you advise on how to play the game to its maxmum effectiveness without spoiler. You will not find direct answers to puzzles or locations of special items, but advise on how you can do this more effectively. Q2. Why do quick tips? A2. I, myself, and many other have started out on a game unsure of the game mechanics and tryed to play to the best of my abilites. However, many games have secrets which are either unaccesable or time consuming because of inexperiance in a curtain game. The advise set in these tips aim to increase your knowlede of curtain aspects of the game which are usually not done untill later in the game when you have figured out the game. Q3. Do any of your tips spoil the game? A3. Quick tips are designed to get you informed better about nasty suprises as a result of not efficeintly playing the game the first time around. In order to maximise the fun, getting the most out of the game by being imformed of tricky ideals and also retain any spoilers so you are free to play the game on your own. There are some secrets that can spoil the game, if so, Ill clearly put the tip in the spoiler section. These would be good to read if you have completed the game or you are finding it very difficult to play the game. Q4. Can I add to your Quick tips? A4. Quick tips aims to give new players the best answers to their new, unfamilier game. Adding other tips will enhance the guide and help the reader understand their game alot better. It is only available on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive Console What is the difficulty of this game? Fairly Easy (3 out of 7 rating) What is the availablilty/price of the game? Out of Print Retro Game Medium Demand Uncommonly Rare (4 out of 5 rating) How should I use the controls? The direction pad is respnsive and easy to control. Start brings up main menu with lots of options. A button uses the weapon/spell/item in the first hand of the character. B button uses the weapon/spell/item in the second hand of the character. C button Switches to the next character and delays the character attack. Controls are simple. What are the saving arrangements? Access the camp menu by selecting start and select the save option. There are 4 save slots. This game uses battery back-up. You can only save your game on the world map (not in a dungeon). Is there any gaming devices that would make this game better? The game is best used on an offical controller. How much brain power is needed for this game? There is alot of adventuring required so using maps is needed. Travelling in dungeons is maze-like, sense of direction is required. Combat uses mild tactics. Statistics are not very complicated. Is the storyline crucial to the gameplay/is it hard to understand? This question is dedicated to people who dont like reels and reels of text flying in their face. This rates how influencal the storyline is to the gameplay as being over influential can prove to be annoying for players who dont require one. The story is breifly connected to the gameplay. You are not required to read the story in order to play and complete the game. Basic Tips Character Creation: Fighter: + Best Combat + Most HP + Good in Front + Can use almost all weapons - No Magic - No addtional skills Statistic Priorities: Strength (Major - For combat Damage) COnstiution (Major - For Higher HP) Dexterity (Major - For accuracy) Agility (Minor - Enemy more likely to miss) Should I have one in my party? You should have at least one fighter or dwarf to take heavy blows and to take out low AC enemy's. Very Reliable. Highly Recommened. Cleric: + Excellent Healing Magic + Extra Skill (Turn undead) + High AC + No need to learn spells - Needs Protecting Statistic Priorities: Wisdom (Major - For success in magic) Chrarisma (Minor - For better shop prices) Strength (Minor - For More combat damage) Constitution (Minor - For extra HP) Should I have one in my party? With excellent healing skills, a cleric is the highest priority to have in your party. Very Reliable. Highly recommended Magic-User: + Uses Combat magic very well - Low AC - Low HP - Weak Weaponry - Needs protection - High Experience required Statistic Priorities: Intelligence (Major - For Success in magic) Contitution (Minor - For more HP) Agility (Minor - to take less damage from enemy's) Should I have one in my party? With the best attacking magic, magic user is great for dealing damage and causing ailments. However is unreliable being weak however is highly recommended. Rouge: + Useful Skills + Good combat skills + Good with ranged + Low experience requirements - Light armoured Statistic Priorities: Dexterity (Major - to get successful attacks) Agility (Major - to get hurt less from enemy's) Constitution (Minor - Extra HP) Should I have one in my party? Rouges sneak attack can deal good damage and good with ranged weapons. However with light armour can be unreliable, he is recommended if you are good with tactics. Dwarf: + Excellent Combat + Best HP + Good in Front + Can use almost all weapons - No Magic - No addtional skills Statistic Priorities: Strength (Major - For combat Damage) COnstiution (Major - For Higher HP) Dexterity (Major - For accuracy) Agility (Minor - Enemy more likely to miss) Should I have one in my party? They are almost identical to warrior except they look differant and are better with differant weapons. They are very reliable and are recommended, however the fighter is usually a bit better. Elf: + Good combat skills + Can use magic - VERY high experience required Statistic Priorities: Dexterity (Major - For accuracy) Agility (Minor - Enemy more likely to miss) Strength (Minor - For combat Damage) Intelligence (Minor - For Success in magic) Should I have on in my party? Elves are the jack of all trade, they are good in combat and use magic. However the high experiance requirement can mean they can lag behind. They are reliable and recommended if you are wating more magic users. Halfing: + Useful Skills + Good combat skills - Light armoured Statistic Priorities: Dexterity (Major - For accuracy) Agility (Major - Enemy more likely to miss) COnstiution (Minor - For Higher HP) Should I have one in my party? Halfings are the most undesirable class in the game as they are usually not as good as rogues. They are not very reliable and are not recommeneded. So what team should I have? Listed Below, these are the recommended teams of 4: Warrior - Cleric - Wizard - Rouge ( or Pregenerated Party) Warrior - Cleric - Elf - Elf Warrior - Cleric - Elf - Rouge Warrior - Warrior - Cleric - Wizard Warrior - Warrior/Dward - Cleric - Rouge Elf - Elf - Cleric - Magic-User Elf - Rouge - Cleric - Magic-User So what is the best thing to do when I start the game? Watch the intro first off. Second create your characters. You should start in town, the first time is the best time to walk around town, explore it and talk to villages. Make sure you talk to the king and his mage in the tower as these will tell you of your quest. Buy simple ranged weapons and cheap armour for characters with bad melee combat, a good idea for rogues, clerics and magic-users. Explore the start menu and get used to the character pages and equipment. In town, if you explore around the guard towers, you are able to enter them to enter the first person perspective mode. Use this opportunity to get used to this mode. In one of the towers, you will encounter a few enemy's, remember that the game is real time and you need to press A or B to attack with the weapon or ability in that slot. There are plenty of items in the towers including a staff of healing and several potions. There are also secret rooms that can be found by travelling though walls, there is a powerful item in one of the towers can you find it (for the answer, look at the spoiler section). If one of my characters die, can I get them back? If you return to the preist in the town, any character that has died, been poisoned or any other ailment, then they will get healed for free. Also all your characters will get all their HP back. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- vi. Advanced Tips What are the best spells to use in combat? If you are outside, using high damage spells is recommended as spells will automatically get their target. If you are Indoors, some high damage spells can cause damge to you, like fireball, and are not recommended. However, when indoors, its better if you use ailment attack and they effect the indoor monsters more effectively. Casting continual light is good to blind creates whilst web and entangle are good to stun your enermy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (***SPOILERS***) (***SPOILERS***) (***SPOILERS***) (***SPOILERS***) vii. Spoiler Tips What can I find in the town when I first start off? Look in all the towers, in the tower in the south east end of town, you can go though a wall in the large dungeon room to find gauntlets of ogre power, these give 18 strength automatically to anyone who carries them so giving them to the person with the least strength will benefit from it mostly. The baron has shot me out of the castle, is there anyway to get back in? Two ways, one, reload and older game, two, continue untill later. If you do get shot out of the castle, there is no way to get back in. The castle has been destroyed, where are the shop keepers? Can I still shop? Sorry No but there is no way to visit the shop any longer, you will have to use what you have. Is there any secret levels? There are plenty of hidden caves all around the world map. Some of them even lead to other areas of the map. Here is a list of the area's you can find: Behind the waterfall north east of the beastman camp (great place to start) Directly south of the beastman caves (this leads to the fire plateau) Behind the waterfall directly north of the map.
