| Coffee Can Bongo 6 months and up |
for large cans 8-10 in material cut into a square or circle ********************************* Lay coffee can on its side, put it on top of the construction paper with the lid off, mark your paper so that the paper will fit inside the lips of the coffee can. Cut paper if needed (if your child is able to cut a strait line let them do this part). Next let your child color on the paper while you cut holes into the material, (you will need to cut 6-8 holes in. each piece) After the paper is colored and you have cut holes in the material, lay the coffee can back on its side on top off the paper put a good amount of glue on the edge of the paper, start rolling can as you are rolling add more glue to the paper so that it will not come off the can later. Once the paper is on the can glue the lid on, then let it all dry 1-2hrs. Now put the coffee can ontop of one piece of material, then place the second piece ontop of the coffee can. Thread the two pieces together crossing string as you go (if child is able to allow them to do this part) once you have put the string threw all the holes tie a knot cut excess string Your instrument is complete let your child bang on it with his/her hands or give them a wooden spoon, show them how both sides make different sounds. |

| Soup can Pencil Holder 2 yr and up |
************************************ Clean and peal label off soup can, cut paper into 13-4"x4" pieces, along with 4-3"x3" pieces, and 2 pieces 1"wide and 11"long. Next help child to roll pieces to form little tubes (except the 2-1"x11") glue or tape the tubes so that they will not unravel. Now trim picture and glue it onto can (leaving room to glue tubes above and below), once it has dried start glueing the tubes on, first glue the 3"x3" tubes above and below the picture to form a frame pressing the ends down paper clip them so that they will dry that way. Okay, when it's dry, remove paperclips and start adding the 4"x4" tubes around the can making sure to "frame" the picture, continue around the can making sure to paperclip the ends so that they won't fall off before they dry. (add alot of glue) Once dry remove paperclips, write childs name and age along with a little message on the 2-1"x11" then glue the pieces around the top and the bottom of the can. Let dry, if you like you could always cut a piece of paper to fit the bottom or if you have a cork coaster you can glue that to the bottom. |
