| Chapter 2 When Kelly left, Ubrina groaned. She simply couldnt believe her luck. How could something so humiliating happen to her? Wait a minute, all the humiliating things were always happening to her! Why? She needed to get some sleep before she went to the bar. Man, Kelly owed her big for covering her butt. Ubrina laughed. Thinking of Kelly always made her feel better. They had been through so many things together, so many hilarious times had been spent together. Ubrina knew Kelly had some important things to attend to and really needed the bartending job, thats why she always covered for Kel when she couldnt make it. She really hoped Kel would not worry too much. Money was tight for her but Kelly could always ask for help where Ubrina was concerned. Gosh, she hoped Kel knew that. Kelly better know that after that had been friends for so long. But then again, with Kelly, nothing was certain. She knew that was a mean statement, but she couldnt help it. Besides, it was a fact that even Kelly herself knew. She smiled as she laid on her bed and drifted off to sleep. As she took his hand, she stared into his gorgeous eyes, drowning in the deep pools of brown. Man, he was finneee. He gently pulled her up from the floor, unto the chair that he had so gallantly brought for her. Gosh, her ankle hurt so bad. She must have sprained it when she fell. She quickly looked away from him, suddenly feeling shy. Needing something to do to keep her mind off him, she rubbed her throbbing ankle. As she rubbed it, she winced in pain. He noticed her pained expression and offered to help her massage it for her. She stared at his handsome face, unable to say a word, instead, just nodded her head. What she meant was to say no, thank you but as she gazed as his face, her mind went blank. She watched as he delicately massaged her ankle in a circular motion, using just enough strength to make her ankle feel better, yet cause no pain. He felt her eyes on him and glanced up. Instantly, their eyes met and a connection was made. Man, was she cute. Slowly, they inched closer until she could feel his breath on her. He stared at her face, transfixed. He wanted to memorize every little detail of her beautiful face. She closed her eyes and waited for the inevitable to happen. She was waiting, looking forward to the moment his lips met hers. As their lips met Brrinngg! The alarm clock rang. Ubrina groaned and stretched out her hand, trying to stop that irritating sound, cursing under her breath. Couldnt the bloody alarm wait a few more minutes? Here she was having a great dream when that idiotic thing rang, bringing her away from her fantasy, into the cruel reality. All she wanted was a few measly minutes. Was that too much to ask? Ubrina rubbed her tired eyes and thought about the wonderful dream she was having. What she would give to get back that dream. She sighed in contentment as she reflected on it. She quickly sat up, suddenly realizing something she hadnt realized before. It was him she was dreaming about! She sweared. He was not only plagiarizing her thoughts, but also her dreams. Gosh, couldnt she have a few minutes of peace without him? Argh! How stupid of her! What the hell was he doing in her dreams?!? No way was he cute, no way on earth. She must have been too mad at him to think straight. Yeah, that must have been why she had dreamt about him. Yes, that must have been the reason why. But even as she thought these words, a part of her mind silently argued. She shook her head, trying to push those thoughts away as she walked into the shower to get ready the long night ahead of her. Chris stared at the reflection in the mirror. Somehow, the guy looking back at him didnt look like him. he looked what was the word? Old. Yes, Chris was looking old and he was feeling it too. Today was not his day. He still couldnt believe what had happened earlier that day. It was like a freakin movie, playing over and over again, slowing down at all the embarrassing parts, torturing him over and over again. He was losing his touch and he didnt like it. Nope, he didnt like it one bit. Why? cause it was a sign. A sign that he was growing old and he still didnt have anyone to share his life with. The girls he had been with were so superficial. He longed for someone who would be there, to share his joys, pains, everything inside him, but she never came. He was starting to wonder if she would even come at all. He was so screwed up. It was funny really, except for one little detail. This, was his life. Chris! Hurry up! I dont wanna be late, you know. The earlier we get there, the more time I have to get to know the chicks and the more chicks Ill get to know. Joey stated rather impatiently. Yeah Chris. What is with you tonight? Man, youre taking an even longer time getting ready than Joey. And I thought that was an impossible task. Looks like I was wrong. Justin joked, at the same time checking his reflection in the mirror. Wow look whos talking. And may I ask, who is the one who takes an hour in the shower almost everyday and most of that time messin with his hair? Hmm could it be Thrusty Justy? My, my. I cannot believe that fact. Joey said as he puckered his lips to add to the effect. That statement earned Joey a playful whack on the arm as Justin, not wanting to lose to his fellow bandmate, retorted. Oh yeah, is that the best you can come up with? Give me a break, man. Even my grandmother can come up with a better comeback than that. J, your grandmother cant even speak remember? Shes lost all her teeth. Lance said as he joined in the conversation. Hey, how dare you insult her? Oh well, I guess that is the truth. But anyway, it adds to the insult, Scoop. You see, if she cant talk, yet can come up with a better comeback, Joey is lame. Wait a minute, we already know thats a fact! Justin replied as he laughed. Man, that is the best you can come up with right? If you say I am lame, I have no idea what you are. Now I know why youre not known as the genius in the group. Joey shot back. You had no idea why until now? Not very bright up there are you huh? Lance asked Joey in mock surprise. Hey! I resent that! What is it today? Insult Justin day? I dont know why I put up with you guys! You know, thats a good idea, to have an Insult Justin Day. Besides, you know why you put up with us. You know you love us. Joey replied as he gave Lance a high five. Chris finally came out of the bathroom, with a rather sullen look on his face. Immediately, the guys, excluding JC, who was sleeping in his room, as usual, looked at Chris. Ok, Chris, mind enlightening us on why you look as if youve been to hell and back? Joey asked. Yeah, you look worse than Justin before he has his cereal and let me tell you, that is one look thats almost unattainable to achieve. Lance piped. Lance since when were you so mean? I swear, you and Chris must have switched bodies or something. Freaky. Justin whined. Chris finally spoke up. I think Ill skip today. Im way too tired to do anything. Whats wrong, my man? You were fine this morning, until you came back from the pool. What happened? Got abducted by aliens huh? Heard so many cases of that. Sad, really sad. Justin said as he shook his head, trying to keep a straight face. When there was no reaction from Chris, they knew something was wrong. Hey Chris? Anyone home? Its a joke. Joke you know the thing where I say something, then you hear it and you laugh, you know, laugh? Justin said as he tried to cheer Chris up. Yeah, I know. Its just that I made a huge fool out of myself today at the pool in front of this girl I had been trying to get to know for the last hour. She was just really, really cool, you know? Chris finally answered. The room suddenly became extremely quiet. Chris had never been the type to moan about things. He had always maintained the whole its-over-theres-nothing-I-can-do-about-it attitude so this was new to the guys. She must have been really special huh? Lance asked, quietly. Yeah, she was, I think. Looks like Ill never find out though. Chris said, a sad smile on his face. You know what, I think Im gonna take a raincheck for tonight. I dont really feel like being surrounded by chicks who only want me for my fame or face. Plus, I dont think I could stand the horrible music clubs like these always play. Think Im gonna chill alone tonight, guys. The guys looked at Chris and knew it was useless to persuade him to go cause even if he did go, he would only pull a long face and refuse to have fun. Maybe leaving him in the room would do him some good. When the guys left, Chris sat on the sofa, aimlessly channel surfing, unable to find anything to do. He needed to do something, and he knew exactly what he needed. Quickly, he grabbed his coat and went out the door, not sparing another thought. When he reached the bar, he immediately felt better, knowing he was going to be able to forget everything soon. Sure, he could feel like crap the next day, it was here and now that mattered. He sat down and drank his troubles away, immediately feeling better as the alcohol touched his tongue. Chris wasnt one to drink a lot, so he couldnt exactly hold his alcohol and this caused him to be drunk within half an hour. When Ubrina reached the bar, the first thing she saw was HIM. immediately, she wanted to turn away, walk away from him, but remembered she had a job to be done, something she couldnt walk away from. She walked to the bar and took over for Randy, the bartender who had been on duty just minutes before. Chris muttered something she couldnt quite catch, but she ignored him. Guys like him werent worth spending any time on. If there was one kind of guy she hated, it was drunken guys. Man, they had no idea what a nuisance they were, how totally stupid they were to drown their troubles in alcohol and forget it. Why do that when your problems would still be there tomorrow, plus, to add to your problems, you would also have a horrible hangover to add to the stress. Ubrina just couldnt understand. What a waste of time, she thought. Suddenly, there was a rather loud bang on the counter. Ubrina turned and the worst thing that could happen, did happen. That guy had passed out and guess who had to help him to his room? Yup, she was that unfortunate gal. Oh yes Kelly owed her BIG time here, and she meant BIG. Luckily, there was no one else around whom she had to serve, so she carefully brought the guy to a nearby couch. She searched his pockets for a room key or something that wold help her to get him up to his room. The guy simply groaned, but didnt wake up. Finally, Ubrina found his room key and brought him up to the room. She unlocked the door and peered in, then brought the guy into his room. JC opened his tired eyes and yawned. Someone had entered the room, probably Chris. It was his turn to share a room with Chris this time and he still wasnt sure who was worse- Justin, Chris or Joey. All three of them frequently came back late and always managed to disturb his peaceful sleep. Wait a minute that isnt Chris. Since when did Chris have such cute hair? Oh my gosh. I didnt just say that Chris had cute hair right? JCs mind screamed. He would have died if that was what had just run through his mind. He relieved to find it was Chris with someone. He sat up and politely asked if the girl needed help with Chris. He found out she was the bartender from downstairs and that Chris had been drinking, not a very smart thing to do, he thought, since he ended up passing out. Unique name. JC commented. Yeah, I know. People tell me that all the time. Anyway, I gotta go now. Ive gotta get back to the bar. Nice meeting you though. Oh and tell your friend something for me okay? What? You mean Chris? Yeah, see anyone else? JC shrugged while Ubrina continued. Tell your friend, Chris or whatever his name is, that he has one fine ass. I should know from today and one last thing, tell him that falling on a girl is not a good way to impress her. Ubrina winked and as quickly as she came, she disappeared through the door, out of JCs sight. JC laughed out loud, finding the words extremely funny, although not really understanding all of it. He had no idea what had happened to Chris today, but he knew it was, well interesting. Oh man, the guys just had to hear this. They would love it. Now the guys could tease Chris for months on end. Tomorrow was going to be a fun day. He just knew it. Chris awoke the next morning, feeling none too happy. His head was killing him and already, he was running a little late. He couldnt remember anything that happened the night before and he had no idea how on earth he got back to his room. The last thing he remembered was drinking and suddenly, all went black. Throwing on a clean shirt and pair of khakis, Chris proceeded to breakfast. Yo, man! Do you remember anything that happened last night? Justin called to Chris. Nope. Why? Chris answered, totally clueless. The guys erupted into fits of laugher while Chris just looked confused. Slowly, JC explained what happened the night before, telling him everything he remembered, no sparing Chris any embarrassment. Chris eyes widen when he heard what Ubrina told JC to tell him. He stood, completely shocked. It was fate. Not good fate though. He met the girl twice in the same day, both times making a fool out of himself. He laughed along with the guys, suddenly realizing how truly funny the situation was. He was feeling much better than the day before already. Joey scanned the breakfast crowd, taking in his surroundings. His eyes stopped at the tall, tan, Asian girl who was laughing at something her friend said, the side of her eyes crinkling adorably. Guys, check out the chick near the evaluator. Cute huh? Chris turned to check out the girl that Joey said was cute, but instead, the other girl caught his eye. It was her. I cannot believe that you actually said that to him! Kelly exclaimed, unable to believe what her friend had just told her. I know what you mean. I cannot believe what got into me! I mean, how could I actually admit that to him? But, it was fun. You should have been there, Kel. Ubrina laughed and turned, feeling his eyes on her. she had no idea how she knew it was him, but she just did. She met his gaze and a thousand thoughts ran through her mind and before she knew what was happening, Kel pulled her to HIS table. Kel knew that was the guy who fell on Ubrina. Now, she was going to see what would happen between them. Oh yes, this would be fun. End. |
