CHAPTER 2 Alexis walks up the stairway, down the long dark hall, checks in on both of her girls who are sound asleep, and then walks into her bedroom. She closes both her eyes and the door as she lays her head against it. She can�t help but think about what she just did. The man came to her for help. Sonny Corinthos actually, after everything they�ve gone through asked her for help and she couldn�t help him. She walked over to her bed and began to undress. All she really wanted to do was run down the stairs, catch the launch and go looking for him, but she knew that wouldn�t solve anything. In fact in would only make matters worse. She was just about to climb into bed when there was a knock on the door. �Come in.� �I�m sorry, I didn�t mean to bother you.� �Nikolas I love you and your never a bother.� She motion for him to join her on the edge of the bed. �Where�s Emily.� �She�s at the hospital�she should be home soon.� �Thank you so much for tucking the girls into bed for me tonight.� �Aw, I loved doing it, and besides what am I suppose to do when my Aunt yells Nik can you watch the girls for me I have to go out�. And then disappears before I can even reply.� �I�m sorry about that. I had to meet a client and I was already running extremely late.� �And which client would that be?� �No one important enough to discuss at this hour.� She stands up and basically ask him to leave.� He takes the hint and heads for the door. �It wasn�t Jerry Jacks you were meeting was it?� �It was a client Nikolas�goodnight.� �You know if you want to be with him Alexis, you don�t have to lie�but at least think about what your affair with the man is going to do to your children.� Clearly getting upset. �I am not now, nor do I have any intention of, having an affair with Jerry Jacks. Nikolas you really need to stop this�he is a client and nothing more.� �Well I don�t want you to have anything to do with the man and that�s that.� Nikolas yelled frightening Alexis. �Nikolas was has gotten into you.� �I�m sorry if you don�t understand why I�m so upset with you getting mixed up with a crazy man yet again.� �Okay we are so not going to do this tonight. Good night.� �The hell we aren�t�.who the hell do you think you are dismissing me? If anybody is going to dismiss anybody it will be me dismissing you! Do I make myself clear?� �Excuse me?� �Oh you heard me alright!� He yelled even louder. Alexis walks over to the door and opens it. �I want you to leave now.� Nikolas grabs the door and slams it shut catching her hand in the door. �I will leave when I�m ready to leave.� �What is going on in here.� Emily yells pushing the door opened. �Alexis are you okay?� �She has nobody to blame but herself.� Nikolas demands as he takes Emily�s hand and pulls her out of the room. �Nikolas she�s hurt, we can�t just leave her alone.� Emily states firmly as she walks back into the room. �Emily I�m fine, just go take care of him, please.� �No Alexis your not okay.� She looks at her hand. �It�s starting to swell. It could be broken.� �Her hand is not broken. I barely caught it in the doorframe.� Nikolas stated as he started to calm himself. Emily just looked at him and then concentrated on Alexis. �I think we should go to the hospital and have some x-rays done�it really looks broken.� �You came home on the last shuttle, there won�t be another one till morning.� Nikolas babbled. �Now if you two ladies will excuse me I�m going to bed.� Alexis and Emily just looked at him as he walked out of the room. Neither said anything for a few moments into Alfred walked into the room. �Is there a problem Miss Emily.� �Yes, Alfred there is. Alexis and I need to get to the hospital. Can you please call and order the shuttle back.� �Yes Miss Emily.� �Emily really, I don�t think there�s any need for x-rays.� Emily slightly pressed on Alexis�s hand and she squirmed. �Humor me.� @~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~@ A few hours later Alexis came walking out of the ER and sure enough her hand was indeed broken. She walked over to the desk and asked them to page Dr. Emily Quatermaine, and she was informed that she got called into emergency surgery but she hoped she felt better and she would talk to her tomorrow over breakfast, if she felt up to it. Alexis thanked the night nurse an headed for the elevator. �It�s not like you to be out this late, while your kids are at home sleeping.� Ric said from behind.� �Ric if you don�t mind, I really don�t have the energy.� He noticed her hand. �What happened?� �Oh it�s nothing, I just somehow managed to slam my own hand in my bedroom door.� �Ouch.� �It�ll be fine in a few weeks, but I�m on pain meds and really can�t handle anything to stressful right now.� �Do you need a ride home?� �No thanks, I have a car waiting for me.� �Alexis you know I�m here for you whenever you need me.� �I know you are Ric.� The elevator doors open and she starts to walk in but stops. �Actually if you have a few moments I�d like to talk to you.� He takes her by the arm and they walk over to the waiting area and sit down �What would you like to talk about?� �Your brother actually.� Getting defensive. �Don�t tell me he really did this to you�..� �No Ric, trust me Sonny has nothing to do with my hand. It was my own doing I assure you.� �Then what is it you want from me?� �Well I know it wouldn�t be of any surprise to you if I asked you to end this vendetta you have with your brother and work together to get rid of the violent realm it�s put us all in.� �He�s pulling you into this yet again isn�t he?� �Come on Ric be real. Do you really think Sonny would come to me about anything other then our daughter and ask anything of me knowing how we feel about each other?� �You mean other then the fact that you love him, more then you�ve ever loved me.� �That�s not fair Ric, I did love you and you choose to walk away from that, not me.� �I don�t hear you denying your love for Sonny.� He stated with a smug face. �My feelings for Sonny have nothing to do with our failed marriage and you know that.� �So your finally admitting it?� �Admitting what?� �That your still in love with my brother, and the only reason you married me was because you couldn�t have him.� �First off that�s not true and second off you only persuaded a relationship with me because you knew Sonny was Kristina�s biological father!� �Well you only married me because you knew it would help you keep your daughter!� Alexis threw her hands up in the air. �We can go over everything that went wrong with us till we�re blue in the face Ric but it isn�t going to help anybody.� �Why can�t you say it�.why Alexis? Why can�t you just admit to me and yourself once and for all that your in love with my brother?� �Your brother and I spent one night,�..one night together��and it didn�t mean anything.� �The hell it didn�t.� �You know some days I don�t know why I even try and talk to you.� She gets up and walks over to the elevator. �So much for being there for me when I really need you.� The doors open and she gets in. �We can�t even have a civil conversation.� �Alexis wait.� Ric yells as the doors close. �And yet you wonder why nobody likes you Ric.� Emily laughs walking up behind him. �Don�t you have any work to do?� He mutters as he shuffles off. |
