Nailed to the Ex

Why do you bother to write
another ex-girlfriend song?
Do you think she enjoyed the battles?
Do you think you're never wrong?
Let the truth be told -- your heart is cold.
You hate and fear the women you've known.
And when your relationships collapse
it's always her fault, not your own.
When you grow up & learn to love
in a way that's honest and strong,
maybe then you won't feel the need
to write another boring ex-girlfriend song.


I'm sick of hearing the cliched "I hate my ex-girlfriend"
songs in punk and hardcore. At best they are stupid jokes
that everyone's already heard; at worst they promote and
encourage misogyny. Maybe all of these little singers
should think about their own responsibility for bad
relationships and quit blaming that "psycho girl" for
all of their problems. And if you're one of those people
who thinks that ALL girls/women are crazy, psycho nuts,
think again. If you've had nothing but bad relationships,
consider the fact that YOU are the common factor in those 
failures. Maybe it's YOUR fault, you self-centered jerk.
