~~sad news~~

I found out my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer earlier this week. Liver and stomach. He was told it is too far along to do anything about. My grandfather is one of those good old boys who retired from 25 years working in a rock quarry. Drinks several beers a day, ownes, built, runs, and cooks for a restaurant, spent lots of time with my aunts and uncles. But never the type to get regular check-ups. Just a good guy happy with life.

I spoke to him and my grandmother on the phone. They were both so down, so sad. My whole extended family is getting together for Thanksgiving at their place this year. I feel guilty that I can't make it. Anyway, he's 79. I tell myself this is to be expected when family members grow older as I grow older, but that doesn't make it any less sad news.

~~what a day~~

What a day. Today, citizens of Georgia held a bloodless revolution, America crashed another helicopter in Afghanistan, the government of Mauritania kissed Amerca's ass for money, police in Turkey are getting closer to finding out who bombed a synagouge, and I had sex twice. Yep, said it, twice. Does anything else matter?

Well, I guess other things do matter. But hardly is the day so eventful.

~~day's off~~

Ahh yeaahhh. Took two days off work, ya heard! Nice. Unfortunately I spend them on house chores. My one year warranty just expired, so I had the drywall people come last week. I had the AC people come today. My damn home office room was blistering hot. It's a south facing room on the west side of the house with no sunscreen, a hot running P4 computer, and weak air flow out the ducts. Blistering hot during the day, even when the rest of the house is chilled. Anyway, they balanced out the air, so it shouldn't be so bad, but I won't know til next summer. Figures.

So I'm painting the drywall touch up spots today. Also gotta mow the yard one last time before it goes dormant. Spent wayyy too much $$ last month on new furniture I needed. So today I work on chores, tomorrow I get the door handle and extra paint touch-up people in, then Saturday and Sunday I party.

Peace out.

~~lots to say, no time to say it~~

Been awhile since my last post. I've just been going back and forth to work and home. Very boring, I need a vacation soon. I wish I could take more, in fact I wish I could just take years off to travel. I finished the latest issue of National Geographic last week. They had stories on Khabul in Afghanistan, it looks so much like Denver... And stories on Cuba, Yellowstone Park... All the places I wish I could see. More later, trying to get some work done now.
