Dishwalla's
"Somewhere in the middle"
May's Song of the Month
Back Home
Dishwalla have made an exciting impact at AAA and Rock radio stations with the single "Somewhere In The Middle," from their new album Opaline, due April 23 on Los Angeles-based immergent Records. In it's first week, the song became the #1 most-added track at AAA stations and #2 most-added song at Rock radio. At the same time, Dishwalla are finalizing dates for a tour to kick off in conjunction with their album's release. "Somewhere In The Middle" is a signature Dishwalla song, with an acoustic core buoyed by soaring guitars and emotionally disarming lyrics, such as, "Tripping hard falling down onto the ground/Cause I can't stand up/And I can't fall down/Cause I'm somewhere in the middle of this." Frontman JR Richards explains that the "song is about every relationship that I've been in. They're usually a total conflict, the worst thing you should be in, but you can't get out. I wanted to write a story about it, so I used very specific places and things because I wanted to explain how I felt. I think people can relate to it and see themselves in the same situations." Produced by Gregg Wattenberg (Five For Fighting), Opaline blends softly curved melodies and resonating guitars with wide-ranging keyboard sounds and JR's emotive voice for a collection of compelling songs that reflect on fractured relationships, death, lust and hope-amidst-disappointments. Known for their powerful performances, Dishwalla--JR Richards, Rodney Browning Cravens, guitar; Scot Alexander, bass; Pete Maloney, drums; and Jim Wood, keyboards-- look forward to getting out on the road on a trek that will include an April 25 show in Los Angeles (venue TBA) and a May 22 performance at New York City's Bowery Ballroom.
