What's wrong with this state!?
First of all, I'd like to comment on the California recall of Gov. Gray Davis.  The provision of recalling state politicians in California was intoduced to the California State Constitution by the Progressive Movement in response to the overwhelming control that the "Big Four" tycoons that took a stranglehold on California politics.  I don't believe that it was intended to be used as a tool to oust an unpopular, yet ironically, legitimately electected official.
I will admit, Gov. Davis is an idiot.  Consider his passing of legislation that allows
illegal immigrants to obtain a driver's license, consequentially allowing them to vote.  That is absolutely rediculous!
However, he was elected by the people of California, the possibility of the passing of this legislation was known, and part of our economic crisis can be blamed on the Federal Government, including the Bush administration.
Besides, who would you want to replace him with?  Lt. Gov. Bustamante -who will uphold the illegal immigrant law, some one who is more of the same?  Or maybe Arnold Schwarznegger -someone who knows
nothing about politics?  Well, to be fair, I do have to at least say that his stance on illegals is smart.  But what will he do about the economy?
Unfornately, I think Gov. Davis will be booted.  Who am I going to vote for to replace him (notice I didn't say
succeed him -that would have a positive connotation)?  I'm not sure yet.  I wouldn't mind seeing Arnold reverse the decision on illegals and tighten the border.  And he's not really a true Republican, so maybe that wouldn't be too bad.  Oh, hell!  Maybe I'll just vote for Gary Coleman!!  Whatchoo talkin' about?
