Habitat: Toad-Headed Agama live in sandy to rocky dry, hot areas They spend the hottest part of the day in burrows underground.
Color Discription:
Physical Discription: Flattened dorsoventrally. Head is large and rounded across the snout. Tympanum covered by scales. Toes are partially fringed to aid in walking across sand.
Size:
Temperatures: Daytime temp. should range from 86º F - 95º F basking areas needs to 100º F - 104º F. Nighttime temp should be in the 65º F - 75º F. Northern species should have a winter temp at 50º - 60º F For 2 - 4 months.
Breeding/Reproduction: Toad-Headed Agama produce several clutches eggs each year, 1 - 6 eggs per clutch. Species from the northern areas of the range and those residing at higher elevations tend to be ovoviviparous (retaining uncalcified eggs inside until they hatch).
Cage Setup: Keep as for bearded dragons. Large, dry, spacious terrarium with a deep sand layer and some rocky slabs or bark for cover and perching. Keep the one area of the sand substrate slightly damp for burrowing.
Water: Spray the enclosure occasionally, and provide a shallow container of water with a drip system in which the lizards can soak. They are attracted to moving water (agitate water by a bubbler, or a drip system).
Special Needs:
Special Note: looks more like a horned toad than an bearded dragon. Only one species lives in the Himalayas above 5000 ft.
