Common Name: Jacky's Lizard

Scientific Name: Amphibolurus muricatus

Food: Small insects and other arthropods, vegetable matter, such as small flowers, may also be taken.

Distribution: E Australia, Tasmania Australia

Habitat: Dry forests, rocky ridges and coastal inlands. They are semi-arboreal and often seen basking on fallen or standing timber or perched on shrubs and other low vegetation. They take shelter beneath low vegetation, rocks, timber and bark

Color Discription: Pale grey to dark brown above, usually with mottled with darker brown on the flanks and sometimes with a narrow, pale, dark-edged lateral stripe from above the arm to groin. A series of large, angular, blackish patches along the middle of the back, often divided or displaced along the vertebral line, and bordered below by a broad, pale, dorso-lateral stripe from the nape to the base of the tail. This stripe may be broken up into a series of lozenge shaped bars by downward extensions of the dark mid-dorsal blotches.

Breeding/Reproduction: The breeding season is be between October to December, during which time social interactions are at their highest. Clutches of up to 8 eggs are deposited beneath rocks or logs.
