| I woke up early on Saturday, October twentieth, too excited to sleep, because that day I would be attending my first Dream Street concert!! My friend, Colleen, arrived at my house at 9 a.m. We got pumped for the concert by watching and listening to everything Dream Street I had. Finally, at 10:00, me, my dad, and Colleen left. Fortunately, since I live in Connecticut, it only took about an hour and a half, but with the anticipation building, it seemed to take forever. When we got there, there was quite a long line outside Lupos, where the concert would be. There was a long time until the doors would open and since we had preordered tickets, we had lunch at a nearby Subway. By the time we got back, the line had grown atleast three times its size. We got to get up near the front with the people who had also preordered from Ticketmaster. It was quite cold outside and soon our anticipation built up so much that we were bored. We started chatting with Kate, a fan as Dream Street obsessed as me! I was wondering why the doors were opening later than they were supposed to when Kates dad told us that Chris, Greg, Frankie, and Matt were taking their PSATs that morning. <<poor guys>> Finally, around 1:20, all of the fans around me began screaming and the line started moving. The doors had opened. As soon as I had walked into the chilly building, Colleen and I were being drawn in by It Happens Every Time blasting on the radio. We got a good spot in the fourth row (there were no seats). Soon though, we were being pushed back by many very pushy fans. With some help, we got back up to the front. We waited for about an hour and a half, talking and listening to the radio before the opening act got on stage. He was a fourteen-year-old accordion player from Rhode Island. Most of the fans thought they were kidding having an accordion player open for this famous boy band, and I have to say, I really dont care much for accordion music, but I half to admit-he was wasnt half bad. We cheered and cheered until finally, the announcer one again came on stage. He told us that Dream Street wouldnt be ready for about another twenty minutes so he had the accordion player come back. He played a few more songs for about ten minutes. Then, thankfully, the man came back on stage and introduced Dream Street!! All of the girls started screaming hysterically. Dream Street came running on stage; Frankie, then Jesse, then Matt, and then Greg and Chris. Lets Get Funky Tonight blasted through the speakers. The dance was so awesome! The guys were so energetic. After the song, Greg stayed on stage to talk to the audience while the other guys rested. He was in the middle of talking when a fan threw a teddy bear to him. Thanks! he exclaimed as Chris ran out to get it. (Later on there was a HUMONGOUS teddy bear thrown on stage and was this close to wiping out Matt!) He asked if anyone knew what song is next. (Obviously no one did) Well he said, Neither do I and took a quick peek at the song list, Oh! Sugar Rush! <<ha ha>> Greg began his solo part of the song and the other guys came out. Sugar Rush was so great! They all got so into the song and sang straight to the fans. This time, Jesse stayed on stage. First he introduced himself and then began, Weve been to California, pacing the stage and counting on his fingers, Weve been to Florida, weve been to Michigan, but nowhere else has there been girls as good looking as you! <<LOL! Thanks Jesse!>> All of the girls screamed again and the other guys came back on stage. Gotta Get the Girl began. Jesse gave the fans a whole lot of eye contact-enough to make you melt. <<sigh>> Fans were nearly leaping over eachother trying to touch his hand. It was quite funny-I suddenly got shoved forward in a jolt. My arm was outstretched somehow and I got to be one of the lucky ones to be touched by Jesse. <<ha ha>> They sang Matter of Time next. It was great! They got so into the song and emotional. Matt stayed on next, so I had a feeling that they would be doing Hooked On You next, Matts solo song. Sure enough, the guys flipped on their sunglasses an Matt started singing. He was great! Of course, they all were! His rap part went awesome. I liked it even better than the CD! Chris did another speech and got some more presents-my favorites-a stuffed green alien and a bouquet of carnations. <<awww>> Then, he began his solo song, Someone To Hold Me Tonight. He sang so awesome, with so much feeling. He got so into the song and the fans went crazy for him! Next, the guys flipped their sunglasses back on and I Say Yeah began. I realized that in the beginning of the song, Chris had dark sunglasses on and he switched them to lighter ones a little later on, unless it was my imagination! <<my eyes couldve been playing tricks on me!>> It seemed like after the slow song they had thus huge burst of energy and made I Say Yeah totally awesome! They really made you want to dance along <<which was pretty impossible!>> Next, they did They Dont Understand. I knew that they had to be getting hot, but they showed no signs of tiredness whatsoever! They sang and danced with huge force. Greg did another little speech next. Then, he began Jennifer Goodbye. He brought a little girl on stage to sing to. It was so sweet! Greg put so much emotion into the song, and the girl was obviously loving the attention! <<she was one lucky girl!>> Frankie stayed on stage when they were finished. Hi! he exclaimed, Im Frankie! I waited for the audience to somewhat quiet down and screamed out, Hi Frankie! but I doubt he heard me. He dedicated the song to everyone who had been hurt or died in the tragedy of September 11th <<awww>> and Dream On began. The other four guys pulled over a chair just in time for the song to start and began swaying along. As Frankie went by I gave him a quick high-five. The song was great-Frankie put so much feeling into it. Then, they put their chairs away and got ready for Feel The Rain. They used all of their energy for a great song and an awesome dance. They put a lot of soul into the song and really made it have some meaning. I loved the dance-especially the ending! Then, just when they ran off stage and everyone thought it was over, their choreographer, Claudia Swan got on stage. At that point, I knew what shed announce. She introduced herself and asked if we enjoyed the concert. Then, she had us chant at the top of our lungs to have them come back and sing It Happens Every Time. They ran back on stage and the song began. Me, and many other fans sang along for the whole song. The ones who werent singing were screaming and I could tell it was making the guys even more energized. They were awesome! They definitely ended their concert with a BANG! I was sad to see them leave the stage with a little wave of their hands. Colleen and I each got a poster and went home to tell all of our friends about ONE AWESOME CONCERT!!!! |
