I first heard Steve Perry's Voice when I was in 7th grade (1978-1979). I had never heard of Journey, In all aspects I was I guess a recluse to all music but some. After hearing his voice, I made it a point to learn all I could about this group. which I did. When I entered High School, I as a Typical teenager, who liked music, but never really liked school and sorta went into her own shell. I Went through the typical teenage phases. But by the time I was a junior or 17 (1982-1983), I started to go through the depression that most kids get in school. My grades dropped, wasn't paying attention to anything and basically wanted to be by myself. Of course nobody could understand what I was feeling but me, My family who was there, but wasn't didn't understand and eventually I even thought of ending my life. But, one day I turned on the radio and there was Steve Perry belting out "Don't stop Believing". I sat there and really listened. Ever since then, whenever I go through tough time's and believe me there has been alot. I alway's pop in a tape or cd lol or even a vinyl record, and wait for that melodic voice to clear my thought's.
Later on after school and moving on with my life, I had hooked up with one or two not so good guys. They being older knew just what do do to take advantage of me, no not sexual but in every other way. During these time's my family left me, I was being accused of what was going on. they decided that 'she hang's out with them she's just like them', but they were wrong, I had never done anything in which they were accusing me of. In which this made me even more aware, that family may not be there when you need them but music will. Steve Perry and Journey were there for me when my family wasn't and that still goes at point's today. Though it has gotten better with my family.
Point being. You can always rely on the Melodic, caring, understanding voice and music of Steve Perry. Regardless if he's in Journey or by himself to help you through the toughest times in your days.

Thank you for letting me share alittle of my feelings     . jurnie1999

If I had one wish today...... That would be to go face to face with Steve Perry and Ross Valory and Jonathan Cain and Steve Smith and thank them from the whole of my heart, if it wasn't for them I may not be here today. (Neal Schon isn't included in this because I've already had the opportunity to tell him live).
