Psycho X Prologue: Killer

The screams haunted him. They kept him up at night, left him whimpering, curled up under the sheets of his bed. He couldn’t take it. So, in the interest of getting sleep, he turned to drugs. Everyone had their ways to gain access to drugs, and clean as he appeared, he had surprisingly easy access.
He started with the little stuff. Mild tranquilizers, things he could almost get over the counter. Almost. They worked, for a while. Then, he turned to stronger things, ever careful that he wasn’t caught.
Finally, after six years, nothing was working. Then, a new drug started making the rounds, and he was one of the first to try it.
Exphentomine, known on the streets as psycho x, was the drug, and was injected directly into the blood stream for maximum efficiency, added to a cream and rubbed on the skin for maximum safety. That’s what his dealer said.
“Perfectly harmless,” the dealer said. “Just increases certain hormones,” he claimed. “It’s good for the skin!” He wouldn’t lie. Would he?
A full year, he was on psycho x, before he finally learned why they called it psycho x.
