Hello all! Thanks for stopping by! I have such BIG news! Sean is WALKING now! He can take up to 10 steps unaided! He looks like a little monkey with the way he keeps his arms up and his legs are bowed. But he's a cute little monkey! We've got it on video, but we still don't have our video card yet for the computer. Soon, I promise!
Also, Sean had his 9-month well-baby checkup yesterday. He did really well. He weighs 21.6 lbs and is 27 3/4 inches tall now! He's heavy and short for his age. I guess he's going to take after Mommy! :) Daddy did really well at the doctor's office too. It was Jeff's first visit to the pediatrician with Sean. He held Sean while the took a hematocrit sample from Sean's foot AND when they gave him his last Heptititas B shot. Daddy was teary, but fine. *lol*
Right now, we're saving to buy plane tickets to go home to Sacramento for a visit! I'm so excited! Our visit will be during the last week of May and ends in the first week of June. We want to be home for Sean's FIRST birthday! So if anyone has any ideas of things to do during our visit, email me!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY
Jeff and I traded presents last night. We're so bad. We have such a hard time waiting to open presents. You should have seen us at Xmas! And now that we don't have our parents watching over our shoulders . . . and Sean is too little to care about presents yet, there's nothing to keep us from waiting! I got a HUGE 2 lb box of Sees candy. I got him the present of his dreams, a PDA from Handspring.
We're still doing gifts today though. We both have cards for each other, I KNOW I'm getting flowers sometime today and I'm making a special Valentines Day dinner for him. If it turns out good, I may post it on my recipes page.
I have more Baby News too! Sean spoke his first word last night!! It was about 7 o'clock last night and he was playing with Jeff when he said "Dada". I cried, Jeff was excited and Sean just kept repeating "Dada" over and over. I'm sure that it doesn't MEAN "daddy" yet, but it's definitely the beginning! Soon he'll have his own vocabulary and we wont' get him to be quiet! At last he'll be able to TELL us what's wrong. *sigh* Ahh . . .it's so wonderful to be a parent!

We had our first visit to the EMERGENCY ROOM last night. It all started with a trip to Taco Bell. Jeff and I had a BAD day (no sleep the night before, hard day with Sean/at work, big fight) and decided that we needed a treat. I gave Sean a biter cookie to give him something to do while we ate. I misjudged his reaching distance because he grabbed the plastic wrapper! He was SO quick! He bit off a piece of the plastic! He started gagging when he tried to swallow it. There was drool EVERYwhere and my poor baby was chocking. He could still breath though and he was crying so we weren't too worried. But when I tried to do a finger sweep, it felt like I pushed it farther down. By the time we got in the car and were going to the ER, he was fine. But we wanted to make sure and so we decided to have the doctor check and make sure it wasn't still lodged in his throat.
We waited for TWO hours to see a doctor! It was SO horrible! All we wanted to do was have someone look in his throat and say that he had swallowed the stupid piece of plastic. Instead we had to wait in the waiting room with people who had god-knows-what diseases. Then we had to go through registration. Then we got put into ANOTHER waiting room with the SAME people. We finally got into a room where the doctor wanted to do X-Rays! We told him NO, that all we wanted was for him to look down Sean's throat. Afterwards, he agreed that he probably wouldn't have been able to see the plastic on the X ray anyway. That made us feel better. We had to hold Sean down on the table while the doctor looked, and it kind of traumatized Jeff, since he hadn't had do go to any of his doctor's appointments yet.
But there were a few good things that came out of this adventure. We now know that Sean weighs 21 pounds! What a chunk! And he is now registered in the hospital, so now if we have a REAL emergency, we won't have to do any of the paperwork again. Ahh . . . It's SO fun being a parent.

My son took his first step last night!! Well, it wasn't a REAL step, but he's been doing the "reaching for where he wants to go" thing the last few days. Then, last night, he was reaching and reaching and he lifted his foot while standing on his own!! Wow! I'm sort of scared about him walking. It means lots more BIG falls and owwies. But it also means that he's growing up and that I'm doing my job as a mommy right. *Sigh* They grow up so fast. . . .

HAPPY FEBRUARY 2ND DAY!! *smiles* My hubby and I were celebrating that it is the 2nd of February today. We're silly like that. It started because we saw a guy dressed as Uncle Sam on a corner. We had NO IDEA why he was dressed that way, so we made up a little story about celebrating the 2nd of February. We don't believe in groundhogs anyway.
Today was a VERY momentous day in my life as a parent. We took Sean to the playground at the mall so he could socialize and this time he did! Normally he's real clingy and doesn't want anything to do with the other kids. It may have been because this time his Daddy was with us, but as soon as we set him down he took off towards the tunnels! I was so proud to see my son exploring with his newfound independence! I was beginning to be afraid that I had a wallflower! He didn't seem to mind when the other kids got in his face this time or tried to give him a hug. I was SO happy!
Later, the little guy surprised us again by showing us that he could GIVE us something. He was eating a sweet potato chip and had decided he was finished with it. I held out my hand to take it from him but instead he set it in my outstretched hand and crawled away! So mature! *giggles*
And all this on a day that started with im pooping on the carpet!

My son, Sean, has ANOTHER cold. He caught it from his Daddy, who had brought it home from work. This time there isn't a fever, but he doesn't want to eat and he has a terrible runny, stuffy nose. I called my mom last night even before I called our pediatrician. It always takes him HOURS to get back to us. As usual she suggested orange triamenic. I'm surprised that my brothers and I aren't addicted to the stuff. But she then called my aunt, who works at a Rite Aid Pharmacy, who suggested Infant Pediacare. It worked SO quickly! I even got the best sleep in three months! That is so amazing for a night that could have been so horrible. He was still stuffed up, but at least he was sleeping, which is the best thing for him right now. I have my fingers crossed that today will be decent, even though my husband is on duty and wont' be home until tomorrow afternoon.
