It all begins innocently enough when a group of 5 schoolchildren are taken on a field trip to the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve off Costa Rica. What they expect to find is perhaps a new species of plant, animal or insect � what they don�t expect to find is an island crawling with hundreds of dinosaurs and a plot to use them for world domination�! Soon the team find themselves held captive and the call goes out to players to attempt a rescue of these innocent kids.
Upon reaching the island players will visit a lab where details on the genetic engineering and control of dino�s can be found. You also find an experimental egg specimen from which will grow your very own dino-hatchling, a Velociraptor. The notes you come across tell you how skills can be attributed to a dinosaur and how commands can be issued via a contraption known as a DinoVoc but your first dino only has a biting skill at this time. You can, however, add offensive, defensive, neutral, flanking and body skills by using your scanner to convert product barcodes into DNA and pass them on to your pet.
Just about any barcode can be scanned and converted and these will add skill enhancements across the full range of categories. Scan the contents of your larder or fridge, the stock range at the corner shop, or go to town and spend the day at the hypermarket�! Simply pass the scanner over the codes then rush home and plug the contraption into your PC for uploading. Your uploads form pieces of DNA and they need to be arranged to give maximum performance - then you�ll be almost ready for battle.
As you venture out into the island you�ll encounter jungle, swamp and volcanic regions packed with hostile creatures and you�ll have to solve intricate puzzles and defeat enemy dinosaurs to move through to the next levels. Each completed level will provide you with another dino to work with; from Triceratops to T-Rex they�ll be under your command on the 3D battlefields but how they fare will depend on which of the skills in each category you have chosen to activate. Pick the right combinations and your champions will not let you down in the titanic battles between huge beasts from pre-history � get them wrong and it�s you that will be history�!
Aimed at players of 8 and upward SCAN COMMAND has the potential of the POKeMON phenomenon and with ever-popular dinosaurs as the main characters it should catch on pretty quickly.
