How to make a Jurassic Park Baseball Hat![]() Again, because it's pretty hard to find a baseball cap of the same colors (burnt orange on khaki) without submitting a special order, you might have to make one yourself. What I did is bought a regular khaki baseball hat from K-Mart ($2.99) and hand dyed the bill to the correct color (as seen in the movie). The best method I found is a fabric brush marker from a company in Japan called "Marvy-Uchida" www.uchida.com , about $3 from your local arts & crafts store. About 2 coats should do it. I then got a licensed Jurassic Park Movie Logo patch off the internet ($6.95 + $4 S&H) and had it machine sewn onto the hat. This patch is available (among other sellers) from MTC Toys http://myworld.ebay.com/mtctoys out of Niagra Falls New York. Danny is a great guy, and offered a couple of recommendations of his own. The result is pretty close! ![]() Baseball hat seen worn by Jurassic Park employees. ![]() Another Baseball hat pictured in the film is the one worn by the Park Veterinarian Dr. Harding, which is dark green with a charcoal bill, also sporting the traditional JP Black on Yellow logo. ![]() Nice! There is one other baseball hat seen in the movie, barely visible through the helicopter windshield, but it appears to be a black on yellow logo on a navy blue or light blue hat. (INGEN - Aviation division). ![]() There is another "official" Jurassic Park baseball hat seldom seen by the public. It's a black or navy blue cap with the Red logo which is seen in the bonus features or "The Making of" DVD. There's a shot of "the man himself" Steven Spielberg wearing one, which is almost certainly a promotional or corporate swag issue. ![]() A real one of these is probably "very" collectable. These are some extra hats we had made-up.
This is a mock up of the same hat Stephen Spielberg is seen wearing behind the camera in the documentary "The Making of Jurassic Park". Patches are genuine 1993 UCS-Amblin I got off of eBay (about 5 dollars each) from two different sellers. Then had them machine sewn on to two K-Mart ($2.99) black baseball hats. I like these patches better than the currently available "Yellow" JP patch cause its about 1/2 inch smaller and just "fits" better on the hat. |
