The Octagon building has 3 usual floors and one under the ground. The lecture
theatres, red, blue and green, are placed on the highest floor. The hall of
computers for all Staffordshire students to use, the Octagon Concourse, can be
found on the underground floor.
On the first(ground) floor there is a video and sound editing room. If You choose
the module called the Multimedia Systems You will be here very often.
Nevertheless, You can use it even if You don`t attend this module.
Don`t forget to ask the man in charge of this room to provide You with a free space drive. You will
find it very helpful and usually unnecessary as the disk capacity You are given at the beginning
is useless.
Even more important room is on the opposite side of the editing one. The technicians of the Octagon
work there. Therefore, if you have any problems, don`t hesitate to ask them.
Moreover, they will provide You with an access login name and a password in order to be able to use
laboratory computers.
Remember, that this advantage is just for students of the School of Computing. Because the labs are
open in a sufficient amount of time and are equipped with printers as the computers at the Concourse,
I really recommend You to work here.
The labs are more comfortable too. The disadvantage is, of course, that there aren`t so many
computers in all of them as at the Concourse and sometimes You can be asked to leave because of
some demonstrations or teaching being held there.
