Huge spoilers below... basically the whole story of the first two OVAs. If you don't want to know what happens in the OVAs then don't read, but if you do then just highlight the text following this sentence to read. Kenshin is the main character of the series who had a rough upbringing. He was born under the name of Shinta, and when he was very young his parents died, and he was taken in by three young slave women. One night they were attacked and all three women protected him, and died. Luckily, Hiko Sejuro happend to arrive and saved Shinta. Hiko then took in Shinta as his pupil to learn the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu sword technique. In doing so Hiko changed Shintas' name to Kenshin because Shinta was too weak sounding of a name. Eventually Kenshin would leave behind his master to become a hired assassin. He would slay hundreds of men and was given the nickname of Hitokiri Battousai. He evenually met a young woman by the name of Tomoe Yukishiro, which he fell in love with and married. They lived in hiding for awhile until Kenshin found out that she was a spy for her previous fiance whom Kenshin had killed earlier. (Tomoes' fiance was also the one who gave Kenshin the first half of his cross shaped scar on his cheek. Until that moment no one had ever touched Kenshin. Kewl huh?) Well in the end Kenshin ends up killing Tomoe and she makes the other half of his cross shaped scar. From that moment on he vows that after the Revolution is done with he will never kill again. He fights on the front lines of the Revoultion and then once the battle is won he suddenly dissapears for ten long years, until he meets a firey young woman by the name of Kaoru Kamiya... |
