The Dawning

And now I'm here, cold, alone,
One this darkening, sandy bay.
The cold whips round my silent form
As I reap the hurt of yesterday.
I let the waves envelope me
And pull me from the shore;
I choke on memories of the night
And all the nights before.

The waves lash and tear and spear and spike
And fill my bleeding lungs
And I battle with the spirits as I splutter back to shore.
My mind is pierced by dreams of life
That paint my world red with their guns
And silently I catch my breath and dream for evermore
