Ma

Vibha Gautam was born to Durga Prasad Sharma, a renowned Chratered Accountant and Satyawati Sharma in 1948 at Kanpur. She brought cheer because she was the first girl born after two of her brothers.

At the time of her birth, her father had a flourishing practice in Rawalpindi(now in Pakistan). She was an infant when Partition forced the family to leave the house as it was as well as many memories and move to Calcutta. The practice,of course, took strong roots again.
She went to Baligunj Shiksha Sadan and then Calcutta University for her B.A. She was yet to appear for her last two papers in the final year when her mother announced she had seen a good boy in Aligarh and her marriage was fixed.

She married Ramakant Parashar on June 13, 1966. The ceremony was conducted at the irrigation department guest house in a town near Aligarh.
Today, when she recalls all this and more, ma says its all very clear, like yesterday
Anyway, then my parents left for Den Hague, Netherlands for my father's specialisation in Hydrology. My sister was born in 1969 in Delhi and they moved to Roorkee the next year.
She met a lot of people at the similar 'nest' level in Roorkee and the bonds formed there have lasted through thick and thin.

She took up teaching primary students in Nigeria

She is an artistically inclined person with a flair for the fine arts - music, dance and painting. She is an excellent cook and indulges in embroidery.
