| Dance has been the most beautiful way of self-expression in Indian art. And Uttar Pradesh has led in this field from the front. Historical records suggest that some of the earliest Vedic dance forms found their patrons here. Even later, in the Islamic period, early Hindu and outside influences combined to give us the most flowing of Indian classical dance forms - Kathak. Of all Gharanas (schools) of Kathak, the leading have been Banaras, Lucknow and Agra (all in U.P.) | |||||||||||||
