| Tokio is a unique group in Johnnys because instead of dancing (except during concerts and special occasions) they play their own instraments. Tokio is Johnnys' only debuted "band" out right now. This group consists of Jyoshima Shigeru (leader; bass), Yamaguchi Tatsuya (bass), Kokubun Taichi (keyboard), Matsuoka Masahiro (drums), and of course Nagase Tomoya (vocal). Tokio used to have another member in place of Nagase Tomoya, but due to some conflicts he left in the early 90's. Out of V6, KinKi Kids, and SMAP, despite their vast age differences, Tokio seems to be the closest and has the best teamwork. They all seem to be very close friends even in their personal lives (unlike the other groups mentioned above). They host various popular hilarious and sometimes moving television programs such as Mentore G, The Tetsuwan Dash, and Gachinko. Tokio has been very successful in the year 2001 and this is possibly their late break that they'd been waiting for since they debuted in '94. Tokio made their debut with the single "Love You Only" and since then they have been busy music wise and also taking lead roles in lots of dramas and movies. These 5 guys are very talented and even more important, they have a GREAT sense of humor. They'll make you laugh, they'll make you cry, I have a feeling Tokio will be together for a very long time. Jyoshima Shigeru (a.k.a. Leader and Shige-chan) birthdate: 11/17/70 birth place: Nara-ken blood type: O Leader is VERY funny and his clever jokes show you that he is very intelligent. He is like the class clown in the group but of course he knows when to be serious too. Although you don't see much of his serious side, when he does show it, he's very kakoii! Leader is know as the first Kansai-jin to get into Johnnys. So all you Kansai Jr. fans better be grateful, he opened up the doors for your guys! Tokio is probably as close and united as they are now because they have such a great leader. Yamaguchi Tatsuya birthdate: 1/10/72 birth place: Saitama-ken blood type: O Although Tatsuya has had a weight problem throughout his career, he showed his spirit and determination by losing a lot of weight during a popular segment in Gachinko. Tatsuya also has a funny personality and he can be seen in such dramas and movies as "Friends", "Naguru Onna" (Fighting Woman), "Department Store Stories", and "That's Cunning!" Kokubun Taichi birthdate: 9/2/74 birth place: Tokyo blood type: O Taichi is another very funny character. He's a little on the skinny side so his dream is to become a man that looks good in a tank top. Taichi has gained popularity thru his kindness and good sense of humor. Taichi can be seen in such dramas as "Bus Stop", "Garasu No Kakeratachi" (Shards of Glass), and "Kin no Tamago" (The Golden Egg). Matsuoka Masahiro (a.k.a. Maabo) birthdate: 1/11/77 birth place: Hokkaido blood type: A Maabo is one of the most athletic guys in Johnnys. He's good at any sport (soccer-great goal keeper!, track -always the fastest!, acrobats -does backflipps like nothing, etc.) and he ALSO has a great sense of humor. Maabo is very intelligent as well, and this is obvious thru the things he say. Maabo is a very popular actor and has lead roles in many dramas such as "Phychometra Eiji 1 & 2", "Love and Peace", "Tengoku ni Ichiban Chikai Otoko 1 & 2" (Heaven Cannot Wait), and "Shokatsu" (Unsolved Crimes Department). Nagase Tomoya (a.k.a. Naga-chan, Tomo-chan) birthdate: 11/7/78 birth place: Kanagawa-ken blood type: O Naga-chan is probably the most popular member in Tokio. His popularity went sky high after his hit drama "Muko Iri" in which he played the handsome and most sought after singer, Sakuraba Yuuichiro, who gets married to a girl not in the show-buz. Naga-chan has a very cute and childish personality, depite his height and looks. Naga-chan can also be seen in many popular dramas such as "The Ring", "Love and Eros", "Ikebukuro West Gate Park", "Suna No Ue no Koibitotachi", and the ever famous "Hakusen Nagashi". |
