SMAP

SMAP is a 5 man group that is one of, if not the most successful group out of Johnnys Entertainment right now. Nakai Masahiro (leader), Kimura Takuya, Inagaki Goro, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, and Katori Shingo all started out as "skate boys" who were back-ground dancers to senior groups like Shonentai and Hikaru Genji. SMAP stands for Sports Music Assemble People and they actually started out with 6 members but Mori Katsuyuki quit in around '95 to persue a less-successful career in motor bike racing. He is now married with a child. The remaining members have been very successful in acting, million-selling songs, hosting their own programs, and anything else you can think of. Forming in 1988, SMAP has been together for over 13 years, through these years they have developed and found all kinds of talents...Nakai is one of Japan's most famous television program hosts, Takuya is Japan's most popular actor, Goro has found his interest in wine-tasting, Tsuyoshi has been praised for his acting in plays, and Shingo has published his own an art/illustration book. These guys just keep us guessing to see what they'll be able to master next...

Goro-chan is known to be a little bit on the strange side. He's more reserved than a people person yet he seems to have very good impressions on women. He is able to be-friend almost any actress that not even the other members of SMAP get a chance to. Fellow members always say they're jealous of his memory in his cellular phone because it contains many different phone numbers of different beautiful actresses. Although Goro-chan got into some trouble with the law in '01 we are all waiting for him to make a powerful comeback.

Kimura Takuya (Kimu Taku -although he doesn't enjoy being called this)

Kimura Takuya is one of the most talented people in this world. He can do about anything once he puts his mind to it. He's been the most popular talents in Japanese entertainment for the past 5 years so there must be a reason for that. Takuya recently shocked everyone in Japan with his marriage announcement to a very famous and pregnant Kudo Shizuka. Takuya's likes include surfing, native american stuff, old anime, and children. He's also well-known as a actor and all of his dramas including "Long Vacation", "Beautiful Life" and "Hero" have broken all viewership records.

Katori Shingo

Shingo-chan is the tallest in SMAP but the youngest. He has a great sense of humor and he never fails to make everyone laugh. Shingo is a very talented artist but he's been teased a lot about a weight problem. Shingo-chan started a huge fad with his famous character "Shingo Mama". If you ever hear the popular morning greeting, "Oha~!" he's the one who started it (well actually someone else thought it up first but he's the one that made it popular).

Kusanagi Tsuyoshi (Tsuyo-pon)

Tsuyoshi used to be a gymnest in high school so he's very good with his acrobats. Tsuyoshi is also known to be a "great guy" but what's ironic is that he also does not like children at all. Tsuyoshi and Shingo are the closest friends in SMAP. Tsuyoshi also loves his vintage jeans. He was extatic when he won the "Best Jeanist" award after fellow member Takuya. It was always Tsuyoshi's dream to win this title. Let's see if he'll win next year too!

Nakai Masahiro (Ma-kun)

Nakai Masahiro truly has a talent in talking. He was chosen as the youngest person in history to host the annual Kouhaku Red and White Song Fest 2 years in a row. He probably hosts the most regular variety programs but he's also famous as an actor. Some of them include the popular "Saigo No Koi" (Last Love), "Brothers", and "Shiroi Kage" (The White Shadow). I personally like Nakai-kun better as a host. :) Nakai-kun is also famous for being a terrible singer and has a bad taste of clothes...hehe, but that's okay because all this is what makes up the real Nakai Masahiro.
