Okada had a pretty interesting childhood. He was born in the car on the way to the hospital, and everyone thought he was dead by the time they arrived. However, Okada's mother didn't give up, and finally, baby Okada was revived! Thank goodness! Also, Okada didn't talk at all until he was 3 years old. And boy, did he surprise everyone when he spoke his first words...er...sentence, "I don't agree with that!" all of a sudden. He was very chubby when he was younger (it's hard to imagine) and his older sister used to call him "legless-ham". Okada first joined Johnnys when he was 14 years old, and he was immediately put into V6 so he never had the chance to be a Johnnys Jr. Actually, Okada was called by the Johhnys Agency to come to Tokyo for a photo shoot, and he didn't expect to be there for more than a day. However, when he got there, a hair dryer and one day's supply of underwear in hand, he was asked, "Can you play volleyball?" and before he knew it, he was put into V6! It is as if he hasn't returned home from a trip to Tokyo for more than 5 years now! Since Okada had close to nothing with him, he had to borrow clothes from fellow V6 members...even underwear! "It was so sad!", remembered V6's leader Sakamoto Masayuki, "Sometimes,when we looked under Okada's foot the name 'Miyake (Ken)' was written on the bottom of his socks!". Also, Inohara Yoshihiko commented, "I remember how the white overall outfit that Okada used to wear turned brown because he had to wear them so much!". Poor Okada-kun!
Okada is famous for his popular character on the hit TV show "Gakkou E Ikou!" ("Let's Go To School!"). This character is the one and only super-hero "Shonen Okada" ("Young Boy Okada" who goes to extreme measures to help little girls to overcome their problems. Shonen Okada is challenged to the very end with all sorts of difficult tasks such as sky-diving, tight-rope walking, and high jumping, but this super-talented guy has cleared them all! He can do anything if he puts his mind to it! Okada's good sportsmanship and great athletic ability comes from years and years of playing Rugby at his school. However, this harsh and violent sport has left it's mark. Okada has a fairly large bump on his forehead. This was formed when he badly bruised up a bruise he got from long hours of practice before it could heal completely, thus forming a permanent lump. He gets teased about his forehead now and then, but he just laughs along, not really caring about it.
Okada-kun is a pretty shy and quiet guy who enjoys reading and listening to music. He is quite well-rounded, but he is also known for his weird collections, for example, his collection of Cupie dolls of all different sizes. His acting has really imporved over the years, and his future goal is to become a great and well-known actor. I feel this is not a far away dream considering that he has the looks and the talent. Okada has also announced that he will start working out at a gym regularly...sounds good to me! :)
