Prolog: Why am I here again? Oh yes my husband brought me here. I dont want to be here. I Hate Gwi wuh. I hate her with a passion; she may be my daughter and first child.... But I Still hate HER! Ah but I hate her father even more. If it werent for him she would never be here. That stupid, goofy, dumb ape!!! Its his fault that wretched girl is here. He has no idea how he has made us suffer. And worst of all he has the nerve to sit next to me like everything is all hunky dory. DAMN HIM!!! My poor husband... hes been through so much because of that girl. At least now he wont have to worry about her. PART ONE: THE BEGINNING (HALL WAY) "Oh great! What else can go wrong?? First day in this school and I cant find anything! Sheesh I cant even find my brother." Sukyong mumbled to herself as she looked for her classroom. "Oops! Im sorry." "Pretty..." She tried to walk on, but suddenly felt someone yank her arm and being pulled back. She found herself face to face with the guy she just bumped into. "What are you-?" "Come with me." He said in a slight whisper and a grin. "Who... what?" "I said come with me." "Who are you?" "Wouldnt ya like ta know." He said with a slightly seductive tone. "Au! Let go of me, I dont wanna go with the likes of you!" "Was that Sukyong?" "Shit! Let me go!" She screamed wriggling her arm trying to get free of his grip. "Let her go." Said Woohyuk in if-you-dont-Ill-kill-you tone. He let her go and walked away with an evil grin apon his face. Woohyuk took his attention off the attacker and looked at her with concern. "Are you okay?" "Yes oppa... um... where is this classroom?" She asked handing the schedule to him. "There." He pointed to a door across the hall. "Thanks." And started to walk to the classroom. (ALLY-->1:00A.M.) "Hmmm.... He should be here any minute now." Thought Sukyong as she looked at her watch; walking slower as she aproched his work place. "Sukkie ya!! Wait for me!!!" Called a voice from behind. She abruptly turned around and made an angry face. "Youre late!!" Hollered an angry voice. "I... Im sorry its just-" he started looking at the ground. "NO I wont hear it!" And started to laugh no able to help herself because of his expression. "Hyukkie! Im kidding." He stared at her for a moment, then started to laugh too. After a long moment of laughing, they started their long walk home. Unfortunately, the fastest way there from Woohyuks work place was through a dark ally. "Hmmm... I dont remember the ally being this dark." Sukyong thought as she moved closer to her brother. "Yo man sup?" Said a guy approaching them. They took a step back. "Nothin whats it to ya?" "Ya gotta cute chick there, boy." Said a voice from the shadows. "To bad I couldnt get my hands on you like I wanted to..." The voice continued, as its owner emerged into the dimly lit ally. "You... What do you want? Leave us alone!" "Id like you to meet some of my men." He said with a light chuckle. "I was hoppin you would join, but I changed my mind." "Why the heck would I want to join your band of losers?" They gave each other dirty looks and snobs before they continued at the problem at hand. Before another word was spoken, someone hit Woohyuk over the head. Then the stranger stuffed the reluctant Sukyong into his car and drove off. Even though Woohyuk was out numbered three to one, he still tried to fight them. Though it looked like he would lose any minute, his best friend showed up and saved his butt. (WHERE HOUSE) Mean while... "Fuckin bitch! Where the fuck you think youre goin?" "Fucking pervert! Get the hell away from me!!!" She screamed throwing small rocks and whatever she could find on the ground at him. "Oww Fuck! Come on bitch be nice, why the fuck you playin hard ta get? I dont have patients when it comes to games. Where the fuck are you? Where the fuck are you hiddin, damn it! He growled as he looked for her. She grabbed his leg as he passed a table she was hiding under. After he fell Sukyong ran toward the door. As she ran through the door she screamed, You can fuck a wall but you cant ever catch me you sorry excuse for a gang peh (gangster)!!!!" "Just you wait; Ill get you.... Eventually." (On the streets of Seoul) After sukyong finally stopped running to catch her breath, she looked around. Not recognizing anything she sighed and hung her head. "All great! Just great! Where the hell am I now?" Sukyong searched her bag to see if she had any money for a cab. Unfortunately all she was able to find was 100Won (which is roughly about 10 cents.) Sighing deeply she went to ask someone where a payphone was. She tried to ask an old halabaji (old man) but ran in fright as he started to yell at her. He had mistaken her for his missing granddaughter and then got pissed off when he realized he was wrong. After 20 minutes of looking in the half-deserted streets she finally found a working pay phone. Looking at her watch she realized that it was 3 a.m. "Crap! Who the heck can I call at this hour?" Sukyong took out a thin, faded yellow, ragged looking book. On the cover it said Phone Numbers in fading black letters. She thumbed through it while trying to figure out whom to call. "Hmm.... Ah! I know!" ----Ring----Ring----"Pick up..."----Ring---- "Yoboseyo? Sukyong? Is that you??" "Oppa..." "Are you okay? Where are you?" "I...I dont know... somewhere in the city... Oppa, Im cold." "Sukkie are you sure you dont know where in the city you are?" "Yes Im sure...Oppa Im scared." "Hmm... " "...I see the SM building, do you know where that is Oppa?" "SM? Do you mean the studio building?" "I think so and I see the MBC building." "Oh! I know where that is. Ill be there soon, stay there okay?" "Okay Oppa hurry please its creepy here." "All right bye!" -----Click------ Sukyong sat on the curb with her head resting on her arms and waited for him to come. Minutes later a yellow Acura Integra showed up. The door opened and she got in. "Are you okay?" "...Yeah..." "....I..Is Hyukkie oppa okay?" "... Yeah.." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Hyukkie!!!! What did they do to you???" She gasped at the site of her badly beaten brother. He tried to smile to show he was okay. He motioned for her to come and she did. He wrapped his wounded arms around her and gave a gentle hug. "Im okay." He whispered. "You should rest oppa." "You too." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Just where do you think youre going mister?" Sukyong asked from the doorway. "School. Where else?" "Not like that. I told your boss that you arent coming in today." "WHAT??? Whyd ya do that?" He said dropping his books. "Well... a gang did beat you pretty badly so I think you should rest until you get better." she said crossing her arms against her chest. "Awww!!!! I dont want to stay here with aunty all day!!!" He shouted in protest. "Well to bad! Its for your own good." she said as she pushed him back toward his bed. He just looked at her not able to argue. "Now just be a good boy and stay here." She said as she tucked him in bed. "You know... youre not mom... you dont have to treat me like this..." Sukyong froze and stared at him for a moment then just left. "Mom...." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Whyd he have to say that..." "Are you okay? Sukyong?" "Huh? What?" she looked at up at his cute face. He just smiled and handed me a school map with a piece of paper. "Heres Woohyuks schedule. Ill see you after school okay?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -----RING----- "Okay class.... Today I am going to put you all in pairs for your next assignment." Announced Professor Pae. "Lets see... Jang Sukyong... youre partner is An Tony." She continued. She didnt take much notice to this announcement. "Like I'd care... Phhhshhh Ill probably be doing all the work anyway." "Is this fate or what?" A familiar voice said. She looked up in disappointment. "Not you again. What do you mean Is this fate? What fate?" "Im your lab partner." "So what if you are." "Im sorry my guys had to kill your brother." He said with a smirk. "Excuse me???? What the hell are you talking about? My brother is fine!" "...." "Are you quite done Ms. Jang? I would like to get on with class." "Oh... a... sorry...." She bit her lip in embarrassment and looked down at the textbook. He just smirked. "So... are you telling me my guys didnt dispose of you brother like I told them to?" "Well DUH! Now leave me alone." She said kicking him in the leg. He just snickered and stared at her. She gave him a cold glare. He just smiled back. Whats with this guy? FUCK!!! "Youre cute when youre angry." He grabbed her hand and held it gently. Gazing into her eyes with an innocent smile. "I dont believe this!!" "Who do you think you are???." Sukyong growled as she snatched her hand away. Then scooted the chair away from him. "Will this class end already????" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Overjoyed to be away from Tony "FINALLY!" She made her escape to the next building. "I hope he isnt following me." As she walked to the lockers, she heard someone calling her name. She turn around to see her crush motioning for her to come. "GOD hes so fine!! Stop it!! Your gonna look like an idiot if you dont stop! Chill out he IS your brothers best friend after all." Hey squirt! He said with a childish grin. Who you callin a squirt??? She spat back and pretended to pout. Awww please dont be mad. I was only playing. He said lifting her chin trying to make eye contact . Im not. she smiled. Youre such a silly girl. I just wanted to introduce you to some of my friends. He replied cheerfully then proceeded to introduce her to them. They are all nice looking guys. He kept Sukyong close to him by holding her hand and occasionally asking if she was okay or bored. Even though there was a lot of people around them, she couldnt help but notice a girl flirting with her oppa. It was so sickening she could have gagged right there. Her attempt to ignor her failed when she came up to them. Oppa!!! she squeeled with an overly cheerful tone. He looked at her not amused and replied flatly, Hi Mihyun... And tried to ignore her again. She walked over to sukyong. Who are YOU? she spat. Moving closer to her oppa, she replied ...Sukyong... Her eyes narrowed when she saw their hand. She looked into oppas face once more. Isnt she a poor person? She wined. Pointing at Sukyong with a pout on her face. He raised his eyebrows and directed all his attention to her. Everyone became quiet unsure of what to do or say. Why is she hanging around us? Whats your point? She shouldnt be here! SHE DOESNT BELONG IN OUR GROUP!! She screamed. Sukyong didnt want to cause anymore trouble to his group and tried to leave, but, he wouldnt let her. He kept her close to him and glared at Mihyun. Whats wrong with her hanging around us? he said. Yeah, what difference dose it make? Shes a person like you and me! The only difference is that she doesnt get every damned thing she wants like you do! With that we left. He apologized to Sukyong and told her to just ignore Mihyun. Sukyong just smiled and told him that she was glad she didnt try to fight her (cuz she would loose no contest =T). He just laughed and ate his lunch. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ (After school) Eh... excuse me... An old gray haired man looked up from his work and asked who she was and what she wanted. She told him she was Woohyuks sister and wanted the assignment that he missed. He looked at her oddly, then down at his attendance book. Hmm... lets see... what is his last name? Jang sir. Hmm... He flipped through the book looking for his name and finally found it. Ah! here it is. He relucktantly gave the missed assignment and the homework to her. He better not miss the test on friday! He yelled as she left the room. Phhhh! what a grouch! As she aproched the parking lot, she saw mi hyun and her crush arguing. She really didn't want to bother them but didn't have much of a choice. "Why the hell you gotta bring that sorry excuse for a human being into our group?? Don't you know that bitch is going to ruin our reputaion??" "What the hell you got against her? Who the fuck gives you the right to call a bitch? You know jack-shit about her and her family!" "What?" "Your the one that's acting like a bitch! Why can't you just let her be like everyone else? " "So what are you trying to say?" "Keep it up and find out!" said sukyong. "What the fuck?" Sukyong got into his car and they drove off. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (WORK PLACE) "Sukyong! I'm so happy that I can count on you to come work on time, not like some of my OTHER employees. Her boss was refering to tall, thin guy named Jaewon and another employee named Jenha. "Only if they were as hard working as you and CAME ON TIME FOR A CHANGE!" he spat as they came in. They glared at him after he left the room. "I bet you he's gonna give her a raise! When will I ever get one?" "I think that fucker likes that girl suck-yo or whatever her damn name is!" "Isn't her name Sukyong?" "Whatever!" They both watched Sukyong as she took down an order from a table. "I don't blame Mr. Cha for liking her.. I think she's a good worker too.." "Shut UP!" Just then a voice rudly interupted them. "You jack-ass' better get back to work before I fire both you!!!" Startled they jumped and Quickly went back to cleaning tables. Eric saw them get in trouble and started laughing, but quickly stopped when he saw them glaring at him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sukyong looked at her watch "11:50pm" She smiled and went to the pay phone to call her ride to pick her up because her shift was over. Before she was able to get there, her boss wanted to see her. "Sukyong you have been working at my resterant for three years, and yet you've never had a raise or promotion..." "Today is your lucky day..." he handed her an envolope. "What is this sir?" "This is your bonus for your diligent work." "Thank you sir." She bowed and left the room to call her oppa. ----RING---- "Yoboseh yo?" "Oppa can you pick me up now? I have good news!" "Okay tell me later... anyoung..." "bye!" ------Click-------- When he showed up, she could see someone sitting in the back seat. When she opend the door she was happily greeted by her crush and was snobbed by Mi hyun. "Just ignor her, I'm going to drop her off at the nearest bus stop." he mumbled. "What did you just say oppa?" "Huh? I didn't say anything... did you say anything Sukyong?" "No... nothing... I think she's hearing things oppa.." They gave each other a look and smiled. As soon as they reached a bus stop, Mi hyun was told to get out of the car. After a few minuts she reluctantly got out. As soon as she got out they drove off an it started to rain. AT HOME..... "Hyukkie oppa! where are you going at this hour?" "Somewhere" He brushed past her and out the front door. Sukyong ran after him but he was out of site. She then informed her crush of Hyukkie's sudden leave. He then called some of his friends to help them find Woo Hyuk.
Anyone lived in a pretty how town (with up so floating many bells down) spring summer autumn winter he sang his didn't he danced his did.... -e.e. cummings... "Hrm..." Jae Won sighed as he looked out over the blue/green ocean water. "Oppa... what are you thinking about?" Mi Jung asked as she looked at the water with him. Jae Won sat up and rested on his elbows. "Life.... how beautiful everything is.... how perfect the water is...." He said in a dream-like voice. Mi Jung looked and tried to find what he was talking about. Nothing looked... perfect or beauitful. The water was choppy and clumps of seaweed floated in the water. Mi Jung wished she could see what beauty her Oppa say in this ordinary salt water. She squinted hoping to catch a glimpse of the beauty he talked about. "I don't see it..." She said giving up as she leaned back and looked at the sky. He chuckled. "Don't look so hard... Silly dongseng. Don't look at the faults of it... look at it the other way. Look at what it has that everything else doesn't." Mi Jung closed her eyes and opened them again. She looked out at the water and looked past the seaweed and choppy waves. Almost like someone had flipped a beautiful painting upsidedown Mi Jung saw it. Out at the horizone there were a few dolphins jumping, the water sparkled. "You see it now... right?" "Eung... How did you do that?" "I didn't do it... you finally looked outside the box. We better go back. Hyung might get mad that you were out all day with a loser like me." Jae Won said laughing as he stood up and went to steer the boat back towards shore. "Oppa... you're like ... deep..." She said thinking outloud. "Not in a gay way I hope..." He said looking serious. "Never." "Good." He laughed. "I don't need a gay thing looming over mah shoulder with my other girl problems." Mi Jung shook her head. She knew Jae Won got asked out lots of times by lots of girls. They were attracted to his shyness and his brains, and especially his adorable baby face. "What you think I'm lying?" "Yes." She said rolling her eyes at him. "DONGSENG NO ONE LOVES ME!!!" He cried grabbing her and hugging her. "Ah... Oppa heijima! I can't breathe!!!" She yelled laughing. He put her down and got really quiet. He straightened out his jacket and went back behind the wheel. Mi Jung ploped down in the front of the boat while Jae Won parked it in the dock. They both got off the boat laughing as they came face to face with Woo Hyuk... Mi Jung's Oppa. "Mi Jung... where have you been?" "With Jae Won Oppa...." "Come one... we're going home." He said grabbing her arm and dragging her away. "Woo Hyuk ah... It's my fault I kept her out so late." Woo Hyuk dropped her arm. "You know what? I'm tried of you playing around with my dongseng. Why don't you take your snotty little boat and all your money and mess with a snotty little rich girl. I don't want you hurting my dongseng." Woo Hyuk growled as he took a hold of Mi Jung's hand again and took her home. "Oppa... let go... Oppa?" " Mi Jung stop seeing him! He's only going to hurt you... and... and if he hurts you... I won't be able to make it go away... I don't want him to hurt you." "He wouldn't do that..." "YOu don't know people like him... they play with average people like us than throw us away like all the toys they get with all their money. I don't want you getting hurt..." Woo Hyuk said. Mi Jung saw the glassy look in his eyes. "Yak sok... that you'll stay away from him... Please..." "Oppa.. I... negga yak sok hae..." She said looking down. Woo Hyuk gave her a hug before they walked back into the house. Women and men (both little and small) cared for anyone not at all they sowed their isn't they reaped their same sun moon stars rain -e.e. cummings "Jae Wonie are you home?" Jae Won's Uma called as he walked in the door. "Nae.." "What did you do all day?" She asked lounging on the couch. "Went riding in my boat." He said lamely as he headed up to his room. "Wonie, don't go. When your father comes home we have something to tell you. So stay down here with your mother and keep me company." She said without looking at him. Jae Won turned around and sat in a chair across from her. Jae Won sat there staring at the floor. This was his mother's opinion of "keeping her company." Finally she broke the silence. "Wonie. play something for me. On the piano. We didn't give you those lessons to be wasted by not playing." Jae Won silently obeyed and sat down at the grand piano bench. As he played her felt like he was out on his boat again, with Mi Jung. The ocean rolling gently as the birds flapped their wings overhead.Suddenly the piano lid was slammed down almost catching Jae Won's fingers. He looked into his father's cold eyes. "We have something to tell you..." His father said taking a seat next to his mother. Jae Won went and took the seat he previously had before his mother asked him to play. "Now Wonie... we feel you're at a decent age where you need to make some decisions." His mother started. Jae Won just stared at them not knowing where the conversation was going. "We've found you a wife." His father cut to the chase. Jae Won did a double take and sat up in his seat. "Wonie, we realize you may not be ready for marriage, and that's ok." "But if you don't marry this girl you have to go to college... in the states." His father finished. "So you're just kicking me out?" Jae Won asked standing up. "No, we're setting you out on your own. So you can have freedom..." His mother said gently. Jae Won was annoyed that she was trying to play the concieted and concerned parent at the same time. "So you want me to have freedom, but I can't marry who I want, but I also can't choose where I go to college..." Jae Won said trying to get the facts straight. "Exactly..." His father said. "The college I have picked out for you is the best. The girl is also the best. You choose." "Wonie you can always meet her first." His mother said gently as she wiped a stand of hair from her face. Jae Won stomped up to his room. "Lee Jae Won! If you don't come back here you're marrying that girl!!!!" His father screamed. Jae WOn threw open his door. His father had a smile of approval as Jae Won walked back down the stairs. "I knew you'd see things my way." He said, but only to have Jae Won walk past him and out the door children guessed (but only a few and down they forgot as up they grew autumn winter spring summer) that noone love him more by more when by now and tree by leaf she laughed his joy she creid his grief bird by snow and stir by still anyone's any was all to her -e.e. cummings "Pst... pst... Mi Jung..." Jae Won called to his window. He took tiny pebbles and tossed them at her window, until fainlly she poked her head out. She gave a frown as she saw him. "Oppa... I'm .. I'm not suppose to see you..." She said. "Please... can you come talk to me? I need... someone to talk to..." He said. Mi Jung looked back into her room. Then she ran out to talk to him. She found him under a tree his face buried in his hands. "Oppa.. whey cu rae?" She asked patting his back as she sat next to him. "My parents... they want me to marry some girl I never met... or go to college in the states... They want me to have freedom, but they want to control me at the same time... I don't want to leave, and I don't to marry this girl..." He said as he stared at the ground. Mi Jung felt her heart go out to him. She couldn't stand to see him unhappy. This was her Oppa that constantly lit up dark rooms with his smile. The Oppa that was always laughing. She didn't want him to marry some stranger that he didn't love, and she didn't want him to leave. She leaned her head against his shoulder. "Miahn hae oh." She said her voice as light as the wind. Jae Won rested his head ontop of hers. "I wish... I wish that I could just run away from it all..." He said. "You'd leave your luxerious life?" "I don't care about money..." "Than why don't you?" She asked staring off down the road. "... because I don't want to leave you..." He said looking in the same direction. Mi Jung felt his tears drip into her hair. She found herself crying too. "Mi Jung what should I do?" He asked after an extended period of silence. "Do what you want..." "What I want isn't an option. I don't want to marry this girl... I guess I'll go to school." He said sitting up straight. Mi Jung sat up too. "I'll miss you..." "Na doo." He said straightening his clothes. He gave her a hug. "Don't forget me while I'm gone." He said. "Wait for me." Mi Jung nodded as her tall handsome Oppa sadly walked back in the direction of his rich house. "Jae Wonie! You're back! I want you to meet Ji Hyun." Jae WOn couldn't believe his father had went and retrieved the girl in matter of an hour. She gave Jae Won a resepective bow. Something about her set off a memory in the back of Jae Won's mind. Girl with fake blonde hair hitting... another little girl... a girl with black hair... Mi Jung... "Father did I forget to tell you?" Jae Won asked straightening his posture. "I'm not marrying anyone, I'm going to college.. in the States..." He then turned on his heel and walked up to his room and started packing his bag. stars rain sun moon (and only the snow can begin to explain how children are apt to forget to remember with up so floating many bells down) -e.e. cummings "Who was your first love?" Woo Hyuk asked his sister as they stood at the door of a man who had preposed to her hours ago. "I... I can't remember his face... Oppa... why can't I remember his face?" "Who is he?" "Why does it matter?" "Because you wouldn't decline all these guys for just anyone.. Someone holds a special place in your heart... and I want to know..." "I can't remember him... I just know... I can't forget him...Why?" "Children are apt to forget less important things. He must not have been that important if you can't remember him." "I'm not a child... and there's a reason... I just... I just... don't remember." "It's probably not your fault... You can't remember everything." "But Oppa.... there's tugging at my heart... It hurts... that I can't remember... It's been a long time... I haven't seen him in a long time Oppa.." She said holding onto her brother trying to remember the forgotten. "He's not that important if he never came for you." Woo Hyuk said patting her back. "But there's a reason! I swear there's a reason!" She cried. Woo Hyuk picked up his dongseng and took her home. Mi Jung had an accident with a drunk driver a year or two earlier... Many things from her memories had been "lost," A taxi drove by blowing a few stray papers to Woo Hyuk's feet. You are now arriving in Seoul, Korea... thank you for flying Korea Air... Think of us on your next trip. Everything seemed so foregin to Jae Won. He'd been in the States for three years. Three years of longing for Mi Jung, always afraid to contact her. Jae Won had majored in computer science. A supposedly growing field. The airport held no familar faces for Jae Won to be greeted with. Only strangers. Jae Won had felt this most of his life... the world was a stranger to him. The more he tried to familiarize himself with it the more alien he felt. Ultimately only one thing was a light in his life... and for three years that thing was oceans away.... until now... Jae Won got a taxi and headed for the place he once called home. little by little and was by was -e.e. cummings Jae Won had been welcomed like a stranger. His mother wasn't her usual manipulating self, his father was unusually quiet. Jae Won felt out of place in the one house he should have felt more at home. In the middle of the meal his father chew his rice and kimchi before speaking. "Ji Hyun is coming over tomorrow. I hope you will treat her kinder than last time. She still plans of marrying you. She's waited three years for you to come back." He father said putting more rice in his mouth. Jae Won slammed the metal chopsticks on the table. "I thought I made it perfectly clear I didn't want to marry this girl when I went to the states." He said in a cold voice that he'd adapted from living in the states. "Obviously you didn't see I intend of seeing you marry before I die." His father said setting his chopsticks down with a cling. Jae Won noticed his mother stayed silent. "Ji Hyun is coming tomorrow and there's nothing you can do to stop it." His father said meeting Jae Won's gaze. "I think I'm done eating." Jae Won said getting up and walking out the front door. Jae Won kept walking wondering if Mi Jung still lived in the same house... Woo Hyuk was taking out the trash when a tall figure approached him. Woo Hyuk squinted in the dark to see who it was. "Hello Hyung..." Came a familiar voice. "Jae Won?" "Yes..." "What are you doing here?" Woo Hyuk demanded. "I didn't like you here three years ago I don't like you here now." He said gritting his teeth together. "Miahn hae... I've just returned from the states. I went to school." "I'm sorry we're not rich enough to brag about that." Woo Hyuk sneered. "I didn't mean to brag." Jae Won said softly. "Can I talk to Mi Jung? Is she home?" "Yea she's home, but she's asleep. I'll let her know you dropped by." Woo Hyuk said walking back into the house and shutting the door. Jae Won stood on the front yard staring at her window. Mi Jung... I'm back... do you remember me? Have you forgotten? If so... I love you enough to wait... I don't want to marry this Ji Hyun girl... I only want you... young won hee.... Women and men (both dong and ding) summer autumn winter spring reaped their sowing and went their came sun moon stars rain -e.e. cummings "Mi Jung are you feeling ok?" Woo Hyuk asked as he found her staring out her window. She didn't move, almost like she didn't hear him. "Mi Jung ah..." He called to her. "Oppa... was someone outside?" She asked not turning to face him. "Urm... no. Why do you ask?" "I heard... a familiar voice....... must be my mind playing tricks on me again..." She said not taking her eyes off the window. "Don't worry about it." "... Oppa... I miss him... where did he go?" She asked. "Who?" "...Wonie Oppa... I don't remember him... but I remember that I miss him... aren't you happy? I'm getting more of my memory back..." She said. "Yea... I'm going... to see if Uma needs any help. Go to sleep Mi Jung it's late." He said heading for the door. Mi Jung snuggled under her blankets. "Wonie Oppa..." She whispered once Woo Hyuk had left. "Miahn hae... I promised not to forget you... and I did... I'm a bad dongseng... I can't remember your face..." She said drifting off to sleep." Woo Hyuk stood at the door listening, his heart breaking. He knew what he was doing was for the best. Jae Won was a rich snob that had left once, and if given the chance.. he'd leave again. Woo Hyuk was only lucky that he could protect Mi Jung from remembering him. He didn't want to see her hurt, ever... Jae Won returned home hoping to avoid the people who gave him life. He crept upstairs as the living room light snapped on. Jae Won rolled his eyes with disbelief. "Waiting up for me? I thought I was too old for a curfew." He said lamely. "Get down here. We need to have a talk." "I don't think we do." Jae Won said keeping his back to his father's voice. "If it's the talk I think we're going to have than I'll leave tomorrow for a plane to the states." "This time you don't have a choice! You'll marry Ji Hyun... and if you don't...... I don't consider you my son anymore." He said. "That' fine with me. I stopped considering you father three years ago." Jae Won stomped up to his room. He didn't see the smirk on his father's face. Jae Won opened the door to his room to see Ji Hyun standing there. Her bright orange hair now lightened to a yellow. Jae Won had too changed while living in teh states. His once long red puffy hair was now cut short and professional in a spiky tilt. He looked like a business man. "Get out of my room." He said in his new adapted cold voice. "Oppa... We're going to get married... my father and yours will see to it. Why not embrace it? What are you holding onto? Whatever it is I"m sure I can make you forget..." She said seductively wrapping her arms around his neck. Jae Won untangled himself from her. "Miahn hae.. I don't marry sluts." He said pushing her away and sitting himself at his desk. He started working on his plans for a new design. Ji Hyun walked out the door,,, determinded to find out what was holding Jae Won from being hers. all and all and deep by deep and more by more they dream their sleep -e.e. cummings "Mi Jung... I don't want to leave you...what I want isn't an option...don't forget me...wait for me... " The voice echoed through the empty room. Mi Jung looked at the tall figure. She could see his tall lanky frame, but his face... was hidden by the shadows. "Wonie Oppa?" "Nae..." "I can't... see your face... Miahn hae... chong marl miahn hae...." "Dongseng.. gwen cha na..." "Oppa... miahn hae.. i broke my promise... I'm a bad dongseng..." The faceless figure reached out and wiped the tear from her face... He moved a strand of hair from her face, he reached down and kissed her cheek. The whole time his face was hidden by darkness. "Ahn-ne oh... just keep that until you remember..." Mi Jung woke up searching for something. Her dreams were fuzzy and she tried to remember her dream. She felt warm and comfortered by it. Mi Jung got up and got ready to go to work. She worked at a little shop in town working the register. Mi Jung hummed Shinhwa's latest song as she sat bored waiting for customers. A guy with blue hair tha hung in his face walked in. He tossed a bag of chips on the counter. Mi Jung rang it up for him. He handed her the money, as she went to hand him her change he grabbed her wrist. "You're very pretty." He said with a coy smile. She looked down at the counter, but he didn't release her wrist. "Thank you." She said trying to free her wrist. "Would you like to go on a date with me?" He asked in a confident voice. "Can you let go?" She asked pulled harder. "Not until you agree to go on a date with me." "But..." She tried to pry his hand off with her free one. The change dropped on the counter."Let go..." She said. Suddenly a long pale hand reached out a tore the boy's hand from her. "She said let go." The tall stanger said. "I wasn't hurting her." The boy said. "You're being rude. Apologize and leave." "Miahn hae..." The boy with the blue hair said before running off. Mi Jung studied her wrist which was now red and swollen. "Kamsahamnida..." She said to the tall stranger. "Mi Jung?" He asked in a softer tone.Mi Jung studied his face something was familiar was him... his tall lanky build... "Do I know you?" She asked. "Mi Jung... it's me Jae Won..." He said. "Don't you remember me?" He asked. "W.. Wonie Oppa?" She asked...closing her eyes trying to match the face. Jae Won raised his voice as a sun shower began to pour down outside. "Mi Jung ee..." She looked down at the counter. "Miahn hae... I'm a bad dongseng... I...I forgot you..." She said rushing past him out of the store into the downpour of rain.... bird by snow and stir by still anyone's any was all to her all by all and deep by deep and more by more they dream their sleep spring summer autumn winter he sang his didn't he danced his did -e.e. cummings Mi Jung didn't know why she was running or why she had rushing pang of guilt building inside of her. She ran through the park not having a destination of any kind. The cold rain hid the buring tears running down her face. Somewhere along the rain Mi Jung slipped in the wet grass twisting her ankle. She fell in pain face first into the dirt. The rain continued to downpour on her. She tried to stand up but the overwhelming agony rushed through her as the rain beat down on her face... "Miahn hae..." Mi Jung... I don't want to leave you...what I want isn't an option...don't forget me...wait for me... Don't look at the faults... don't forget me... Jae Won ran after her. He had no clue what she was talking about. The rain was coming down hard like little rocks. It stung his face as he chased her. "Mi Jung!" He called after her. She ran faster than his long legs could take him. Finally he stopped. Her body lay on the ground. "Mi Jungee..." He said. She was crying. "Are you ok?" He asked kneeling down next to her. "My ankle..." She whimpered. Jae Won picked her up, holding her shivering body close to his. "I missed you when I was in america..." He said. She snuggled her face into his neck, feeling warm and secure. "I.. I forgot you.... but... I still waited for you." She said. He walked through the rain holding her close. He brought her back to his house, not wanting to upset Woo Hyuk by going to her house. He took her to his room and lay her on his bed. The rain continued to pour outside andt he bright sun shower turned the clouds dark and into a thunder storm. Jae Won brought Mi Jung some clothes to wear. "Put these on while I dry your clothes." He said gently to her. He left the room so her could change. He felt complete. She was what was always missing when he was in the states. His Mi Jung... his love... In Jae Won's Mi Jung looked like she was swimming in his clothes. She felt tired as she waited for him to come back. She snuggled under his blankets and fell asleep in his scent... Mi Jung found herself dancing in a ballroom. She had on a beautiful flowing gown. Everyone was wearing masks. "Wonie Oppa?' She asked the tall lanky boy she was dancing with. "Mi Jungee... do you remember now?" He asked. She nodded as she reached up and took off his mask. Underneath was Jae Won. His long pale face smiling at her. His big eyes gazing at her. "Oppa..." "I'm glad... I was getting tired of waiting for you... even though I'd wait forever..." He said pushing hair off her face. Mi Jung woke up to Jae Won stroking her hair. She sat up, embarrassed she'd fallen asleep. "Miahn... I didn't mean to." She said. He just gave her a smile. "Gwen cha na..." He whispered gently. He sat on the bed next to her. "I missed you a lot..." He repeated himself. She moved over she he could lay next to her. "Are you going to tell me about the states?" "Later... My... father, still wants me to marry that girl..." "I thought if you went to school you didn't have to..." She said having her memories of him flooding back. She leaned her head on his chest as he put his arm around her. His voice vibrated through his chest into her ear. "Na doo... I don't want to marry her... She's not my type... too loud... and forward... What should I do now?" He asked. "Molla... why don't you run away. You have a college education. You could get a decent job." She said thinking. "I still have the same problem as before." "What's that?" "I don't want to leave you... my beautiful dongseng... you're my reason for coming back... your the reason I breathe... you are my everything..." Ji Hyun stood at the door glaring at the girl laying in bed with Lee Jae Won. They weren't doing anything but talking, but it made her angry. She practically threw herself at him and he rejected her. She'd never seen this side of Jae WOn. He was usually cold and annoyed. Ji Hyun was happy that now she knew what stood between her and her perfect marriage... something that needed to be... removed... Women and men (both little and small) cared for anyone not at all they sowed their isn't and reaped their same sun moon stars rain -e.e. cummings Ji Hyun burst into the room. Her plan whirling through her devious mind. She shreiked so loud that it hurt her throat. "Wonie Oppa! How could you cheat on me! We're going to get married and your with this... this ... little NOTHING! You said you loved me! You're such a player!" Ji Hyun like a preset play let the waterworks flow down her face. "Ji Hyun get out." Jae Won demanded. His once soft sweet voice now cold and mean. Mi Jung sat up she wasn't sure what was going on. Only that Jae Won had lied to her and he did love this girl.... Mi Jung didn't understand why it hurt so bad... she didn't want to believe this girl, but her tears were proof. "Why don't you tell her to leave?" Ji Hyun demanded pretending to be angry and furious. "You don't care about my happiness! There were times when you promised never to hurt me! That it was only me in your life! I mean you took me to the States with you!" She said letting the false words roll of her tongue like the truth. "Ji Hyun don't make me tell you again." Jae Won said staring at her in disbelief. He felt a tugging at his sleeve. "It's ok Oppa... Wonie- I mean.. Jae Won Oppa.. I'll leave. I don't belong here." Mi Jung said getting off his bed. "I'll just get my wet clothes later." She said heading for the door. A hand grabbed her shoulder. "Mi Jung.. don't leave... she's lying... You already know the truth." He said softly the harsh tone gone from his smooth voice. Mi Jung pushed his hand off her shoulder. "It's ok. It was silly of be to believe that you could be gone for three years and not fall in love with her." Mi Jung asked before leaving. She left back into the rain. Thunder crackled in the sky and the rain didn't let up. It was a sign to her of the harsh reality of life. Her memories were back, and Mi Jung wished... she wished that they weren't. What good were memories if all they caused were pain? A car pulled up next to her. The window rolled down as Seung Ho's head popped out. "What's my beautiful dongseng doing out in the rain? And in someone's clothes?" He asked puzzled. "Would you like a ride home?" Mi Jung got into the car. "Mi Jungah, your soaked! You're going to get sick." He said concerned. "What's with the clothes?" He asked. "My other ones got wet in the rain... my Oppa offered to dry them, but his girlfriend came in and got mad at him. So I left." She said looking at her lap. "Poor dongseng." Mi Jung knew Tony liked her. He asked her out a lot... she turned him down all the time, but if he asked her out again. She made up her mind to stop waiting for someone who was already taken.... "JI HYUN GET OUT OF MY ROOM BEFORE I THROW YOU OUT!" Jae Won roared. He couldn't believe what had just happened. He tried running after Mi Jung, but Ji Hyun had grabbed him and kissed him. He felt dirty. "I only did what was best. Who would approve of you dating her, none the less marrying her. No one. You're parents wouldn't approve, neither would her Oppa. Yes I know all about Woo Hyuk's extreme dislike for people like us." She said running fingers over the seams of his clothing. He knocked her hand away. "You're wrong... he doesn't like people like you." He said pushing her away from him, before running outside after Mi Jung. "She'll never love you now! She believes my lies!! MY LIES WHICH WILL SOON BE THE TRUTH!" Ji Hyun yelled after him. She was left alone in his room. She picked up a lamp and threw it against the wall. "You will love me Lee... Jae ... Won..." Jae Won finally made it to Mi Jung's house. His clothes once again soaked from the rain. He walked up to the front door. He was about to knock when he glanced in the open window. He saw Mi Jung crying... into the arms of a boy with blonde hair and big ears. He held her close as she cried... he was drying the tears... that he... Lee Jae Won had promised never to cause her, but had. Jae Won walked to the window and placed his long hand on the glass. His short hair was now flattened to his forehead. Mi Jung continued to cry into the arms of this boy... Jae Won wanted to switch places with this boy, but knew it would never happen.. because... he'd caused these tears... "Mi Jung... miahn hae..." Jae Won walked away from the house. He didn't deserve Mi Jung... He didn't deserve anything worthy of deserving. His tears warmed his face against the cold rain.... someones married their everyones laughed their cryings and did their dance (sleep wake hope and then) they said their nevers and they slept their dreams -e.e. cummings "Mi Jung..... I have something important to ask you... I've been waiting a long time to ask you this..." Seung Ho said shyly. "Eung?" She asked. Seung Ho got down on one knee and presented Mi Jung with a velvet box with a diamond ring inside. "Will you marry me?" He asked blushing. Mi Jung almost said no, but than began to think of the reasons she had NOT to marry Seung Ho. He loved her, he never hurt her before, he was sweet, good looking, she could grow to love him the way he loved her. "...I will." She said softly. He put the ring on her finger and hugged her. He was laughing he was so happy, it made Mi Jung feel better. She smiled and hugged him back. She was happy... but a tiny pain inside of her reminded her that Seung Ho wasn't the one that would fill the gap in her life. Ji Hyun moved into a spare bedroom in Jae Won's house. It was his parents vain attempt to bring him and Ji Hyun closer together. Late one night Jae Won was working on the final perfections to a more effective touch pad keyboard when he heard crying. He followed the sound to the bathroom. He opened the door to see a pool of bright red blood. In the middle of the puddle was Ji Hyung. Big ugly cuts marked her wrist and a razor blade sat near her hand. "Moh hae?!" He demanded. "Go away..." She managed. Jae Won grabbed a towel adn wrapped it around her wrists. "Don't move." He said running down the stairs yelling for someone to call 119. He ran back upsairs. Ji Hyun was deadly pale. "Babo yah...aish..." He muttered as he picked her up. His nice clothes were covered with sticky blood. An ambulance took her away, and Jae WOn followed in his own car to make sure she was ok. Jae Won ended up donating a pint of his own blood to her. Finally hours later he was allowed to see her. Bags were under his eyes darkening his pale skin. At 5 in the morning he dragged himself into see her. "Why?" He asked. "Why did you let me live?" She asked looking away. "What are you talking about?" "Nothing... go away." She said turning her back to him. Her IV cord swung as she moved. "Ji Hyun.. why?" "Isn't it funny Oppa? You can't stand to be near me... but now my part of you is inside of me..." She chuckled to herself. Jae Won stood there watching her ramble. "You hate being near me why don't you leave?" "Ji Hyun.. miahn hae..." Jae Won said feeling responsible for what Ji Hyun had done to herself. "I don't believe you. You only feel bad... that's all.. the feeling will pass." She said nothing turning to look at him. Jae Won sat down in frustration. "What can I do to make you believe me?" He finally asked. "...marry me..." She said softly. "What?" "Marry me... marry me and I'll believe you... What do you have to lose that you haven't already lost? Don't you know? Mi Jung's marrying Seung Ho...." Jae Won didn't want to hear what Ji Hyun was saying, but he knew it was true. He'd seen the preparations for their wedding... Ji Hyun was right. "Ok... Ji Hyun... when you're better................. we'll get married." He shut his eyes when he said it.... He had nothing to lose that he hadn't already lost.... when by now and tree by leaf she laughed his joy she creid his grief bird by snow and stir by still anyone's any was all to her... -e.e. cummings Jae Won's mother and father were happy about the wedding plans. It didn't seem to bother them that Jae Won suddenly changed his mind and Ji Hyun wore bandages around her wrists. They were happy, Jae Won had to get away from all the excitement. He walked into town... the cold wind whipped through his jacket. He cursed himself for wearing such a thin coat. He slipped into a coffee shop and was in deep thought while the cup warmed his hands. He was considering calling off the wedding. He didn't love Ji Hyun... movement caught his eye. He looked up to see Mi Jung sit down. He watched as she stared at his coffee. "Mi Jung... I.." He started only to be cut off by her soft voice. "Congradulations..." She said without looking at him. "I hear you're marrying that girl... she's pretty." Every word sent a knife deeper and deeper into Jae WOn's heart. "... Seung Ho... he's a lucky guy." Jae WOn said trying to find something nice to say about her finacee. "You really love her a lot don't you?" Mi Jung asked execting him to say yes. His silence caused her to look at him. THeir eyes locked and neither one could look away. "Ahn ne..." He finally managed not taking his eyes from hers. Mi Jung's eyes widened at his answer. Jae WOn looked down at his coffee breaking the spell. "Mi Jung... sarang hae... I've always loved you... not Ji Hyun..." Mi Jung reached out and took Jae Won's long pale hand. She traced his hand with her thumb. Her finger came to the gold promise ring Ji Hyun had give him. Jae Won's eyes wandered and feel on her diamond enagagement ring. The cold truth fell on both of them. A tear feel from Mi Jung's eye, before it could hit the table she let go of Jae Won's hand and ran fro the the coffee shop. Jae Won pushed his chair out and ran after her. "Mi Jung yah!" He called after her. He reached out and grabbed her shoulder stopping her from running. He than pulled her close to him. She buried her face inot his chest and they both held each toher. "Mi Jung... what are we going to do?" He asked softly.. "Run away..." She said, both of them remembering the first and second time she'd told him to do this... only this time was different. "You can this time.. because... you won't be leaving me.. I'll go too." She said squeezing her arms tighter around his waist. His words caused her to smile. "Ok..." stas rain sun moon (and only the snow can begin to explain how children are apt to forget to remember with up so floating many bells down) -e.e. cummings Mi Jung hurried to pack everything she could carry with her. She couldn't bear to tell Seung Ho to his face that she couldn't marry him. She stuff clothes and other things into her bag... she couldn't say goodbye to her parents, it would break their hearts... she was just going to run. With Jae Won at her side everything would be ok.... she knew it would.... Jae Won hoped he wouldn't run into Ji Hyun or his parents. He got lucky that they were eating dinner when he got in. He quietly snuck into his room. He gathered clothes, money, and his project he was working on. He was happy... his dream was finally coming true... Mi Jung hurried to the train station. The train was set to leave at 8 pm. it was now 7:56. She ran as fast as she could. "Don't leave without me..." She said to herself breathless.... She tripped and the contents of her bag spilled to the ground.... Jae Won held his bag in one hand and checked the time on his other. 7:59... the train was going to leave any second. "Mi Jung... where are you?" He asked. Jae Won thought they were going to meet in front of the sign, maybe she was already on the train waiting for him.... Min Jung gathered her things in time to watch the train pull away... She ran to the platform... still filled with people catching later trains. "Wonie Oppa... you didn't leave me did you?" She asked to the crowds of people... She didn't see Jae Won anywhere... She dropped her bag and stood there among the crowds of people not knowing what to do. Suddenly someone grabbed her from behind. "I thought you'd forgotten..." Jae Won whispered into her ear. "I thought you'd left without me..." She said back. "You already know I wouldn't do that." "You know I wouldn't forget..." "But children are apt to forget things...." "I'm not a child anymore...." "Sarang hae..." "Na doo sarang hae...." They held each other as they waited for the next train.... all by all and deep by deep and more by more they dream their sleep noone and anyone earth by april wish by spirit and if by yes.... -e.e. cummings the end
p-r-e-l-u-d-e i am focused... i am alert... i am always ready... i am ruthless... i am intelligent... i am agile... i am cold hearted... i care for no one.... i only look out for myself.. i have no hopes... i have no dreams... i only think of what is and not of what if... i am emotionless... i am perfect.... i am jang woo hyuk... chapter-one Woo Hyuk held the cool steel in his hand. He never liked knives, too messy. Too sloppy. Why soil your hands with stabbing when one clean shot does all that work with less mess. Efficiency was Woo Hyuk's greatest asset. He cocked the gun and placed it in it's holder satisfied. He sat resting his head on his hands. "Woo Hyuk..." Tony said with a low tone. "We're here." Woo Hyuk looked up at him and nodded. Jae Won pulled the car up to the curb. It was a van, unnoticable, no plates. "Well boys, got gun?" Kangta asked with a laugh. Tony smiled, but Woo Hyuk's face remained emotionless. Kangta shrugged and pulled open the door. Hee Jun jumped out and lead the way into the office building. They looked like a normal group of business men. In their black suits they blended in well with the millions of lawyers. Tony went up to the front desk and flirted with secretary, doing what he did best. Hee Jun, Kangta, and Woo Hyuk walked into the elevator. "Kangta take care of the cameras." Hee Jun said crossing his arms. Kangta pulled a laptop out of his breifcase and hooked it to the security camera. He tapped away at the keys. The blinking red light on top died. Kangta quickly unhooked his equiptment and stuffed it back into the breifcase. Woo Hyuk stared forward without blinking. They reached their floor and walked out. Kangta went and delt with the secretary there as Hee Jun and Woo Hyuk slipped past unnoticed. They knocked on the door and entered. "Who the hell are you guys?" Asked the very fat man behind the desk. "Let's just say we're here to collect on your debt..." Hee Jun said sitting in one of the man's chairs. Woo Hyuk stood by the door with his arms crossed. "What debt would that be?" "A life for a life... you killed someone very important. That's all you need to know." "I never killed anyone. I put away millions of kkang peh durl just like yourself. It's called justice." The lawyer said. "I'm offened. I don't consided myself a lowly kkang peh. Kkang peh durl work for me." Hee Jun said with a laugh. "Less talk, more dying." The man reached for the phone. Faster then he could blink Woo Hyuk withdrew his firearm and shot the man point blank in the temple. The fat body fell to the ground and a trickle of blood ran down his face and into the nice beige carpet. Woo Hyuk put the gun away crossed his arms again. Hee Jun looked at the dead man with a twinkle in his eyes. "Nice shot." Woo Hyuk didn't say a word but turned and walked out the door. Hee Jun shurgged and followed. They walked past Kangta who ended his conversation with the girl and followed. The disabled camera was not a concern on the way out. Tony left with them and Jae Won drove them from the site. Woo Hyuk lay in the back of the van with his eyes closed. He could hear them talking about him, but he didn't care. "He doesn't talk..." "Or smile..." "The guy has no emotion whatsoever." "He just shot the man.. didn't even flinch." "It makes him valuable." "Makes him dangerous." Woo Hyuk began to wonder if he really needed them. He didn't bond with them. Bonds only weakened him. He needed to be strong.. elite. He doubted they would let him live. With all the things he'd witnessed while in their group... People would continue to come after him until he was dead... Woo Hyuk sat up causing them to hush their conversation. "Are we there yet?" He asked in a monotone. "Almost." Hee Jun answered. Woo Hyuk stared at the review mirror where he saw Jae Won's eyes glance at him every once in a while. The fear that filled his wide eyes didn't make him feel sorry whatsoever. It didn't bring him pleasure to see the fear, but it didn't bother him. Emotions to him, were excuses for weakness, unnecessary distractions..... chapter-two Sue Jung waited tables at her family's restraunt. She was wiping a table down when customers came in. She put the rag away and went to greet them. "Ahn nyung ha sae yo." She said giving them a slight bow. "Table for five..." Said the shorter one of the five. "Yae..." She said leading them to a table near the front. "Can we have a more secluded table?" Asked the one with big ears. Sue Jun nodded and led them to a table in the back. She didn't like the look of them. They were dressed in nice suits, but they had a kkang peh attitude that she didn't like. Kkang peh durl always carreid trouble with them. She handed them menus studing their faces. The one with big ears and spikey hair stared at his menu contemplating what he wanted. The tall one with dark hair kept giving the others little glances. He acted nervous. The one with a long squared face snickered as he looked at the menu. The shorter one had his face covered by his hair. He "appeared" to be looking at the menu. The last one... had a lone serious look to his face. Sue Jung noticed he didn't sit very close to any of the others. "Is there something you wanted?" Asked the one with a square face. He tilted his head to look at her nametag. "Sue Jung... pretty." He said with a smile on his lips. "Would you like me to start you off with drinks?" She asked not liking his tone of voice. "You can have anything you like." She said referring to the menu. "Anything I like?" Asked the big eared one with a smile. The table burst out laughing except the quiet serious one. He never looked up from his menu or crack a hint of a smile. "I'm sorry what did you say? I couldn't stop looking at your elephant ears." She cracked on him before turning on her heels and walking away. Only when she left did Woo Hyuk raise his head from his menu. He looked to see Tony's face turning red. Even Woo Hyuk had to admit that was amusing, but he didn't show it. The others were so carefree... it disgusted Woo Hyuk. So careless with their pride, money, and their identities. They didn't try to hide the fact they were kkang pehdurl. They were asking for trouble. Woo Hyuk to get away from their ignorance. He excused himself and went in search of a bathroom. He came to the kitchen and could hear the girl talking. "Appa... But... I.... ahruhsoh....." "You have to think of the customer first, not your pride. You understand?!~" "Yae..." "Your pride doesn't put money in our pockets." "Nae... ahruhsoh..." Woo Hyuk assumed they were talking about the way she treated Tony. Woo Hyuk really didn't care. Tony had a big mouth, he deserved whatever was said. Woo Hyuk shrugged and finally found the bathroom. He stood in the mirror and looked at his pale complexion. Many times he looked in the mirror and didn't know who was looknig back. Somewhere along his road to perfection. He'd lost his identity... A hand on his shoulder broke his thoughts. "We're about to order." Said Jae Won. Woo Hyuk looked at Jae Won's hand. Jae Won immediately removed it as if Woo Hyuk's look had burned him. There was a moment of silence between them before Jae Won left. Woo Hyuk took one last look at the stranger in the mirror and went to join the others... chapter-three Woo Hyuk was more then ready to return to the place they lived. He never referred to it as home, home meant attachment, he couldn't afford attachment to anything. The evening was pointless. Once they acomplished their mission they should've retured to their living quarters instead of going out and eating. All the others did was flaunt their money. Only one word came to Woo Hyuk's mind... babo. The girl in the resteraunt was interesting. Most girls would have been drooling at the other's feet, but she was very independent. She would make a very bad wife to someone. Woo Hyuk's simple room was a dark blue color with a mat and dresser. Very simple compared to the other lavishly decorated rooms. All the others cared about was money... and whatever it took to get money. They assumed to same with Woo Hyuk. Only Woo Hyuk had no clue what he strived for... He only knew that his purpose in life was to efficently complete any tasks assigned to him. He couldn't remember anything before the training... training to be intelligent, detached... and perfect. There was a knock on his door. Then Jae Won came in. He placed a cup of tea next to Woo Hyuk's cot. "I didn't ask for this." Woo Hyuk said in a chilly voice. "Miahn hae yo... I thought I'd..." "Maybe you think too much..." Jae Won nodded and took the tray away. Woo Hyuk lay back and stared at the ceiling. The other treated Jae Won like a slave, Woo Hyuk didn't sympathize with him. Jae Won had a choice. His choice was to remain submissive and bend to the others will. Woo Hyuk didn't have respect for that, if Jae Won stood up for himself. Then maybe, just maybe Woo Hyuk wouldn't treat him so badly. To earn was respect was to work for it... Woo Hyuk woke up before the others and got ready. Their next mission was only known to Hee Jun. It tinged the edge of Woo Hyuk's mind that someone as careless as Moon Hee Jun was given such important details. Woo Hyuk was positive that he had Hee Jun beat IQ wise. But Woo Hyuk didn't question it or care anymore. He'd been working with them too long to ask stupid questions. Maybe when he was a rookie and just starting out, but curiosity was bad. It was hard to Woo Hyuk forced himself to STOP wondering. He sat on the couch without the tv turned on thinking about nothing. His mind was a blank wall. Someone was reaching for his shoulder. Woo Hyuk could feel the energy. He reached behind him and grabbed the wrist. "Don't touch me." "I was just seeing if you were alive." Tony said in a casual voice. "When I die I'll be sure to haunt you first." Woo Hyuk said in a serious voice. Tony gave an uneasy laugh and walked away. "I'd believe it..." He muttered. Woo Hyuk didn't care enough to let Tony know he heard him. "Let's go!" Called Hee Jun at the door. Everyone grabbed their coats and left. Woo Hyuk assumed they were going to a local place because they weren't instructed to dress a certain way. He stared out the window and the scenery became familiar. They were coming up to a resteraunt. "We ate here last night." Kangta said recognizing the obvious. "Yea well ther service was bad." Tony said grimly. "That's only because she busted on you all night. Probably one of the few that didn't want into An Seung Ho's pants.." Laughed Hee Jun. "Why are we here Hyung? Really." Jae Won said from the driver seat. "Money... they owe money." Hee Jun replied. "Bling Bling." Tony said laughed. "What the hell? Bling bling... baboyah!" Yelled Kangta hitting Tony on the top of the head. They all reminded Woo Hyuk of children. Woo Hyuk carefully wiped the outside of his gun till the metal gleamed. He put the rag aside and cocked the gun. The click of the metal was like music to his ears. The gun shot noise would be the end of the piece and he could go home satisfied that he'd achieved his mission. He put the gun in the holder as his side. His baggy jacket fell into place hiding it. Then they opened the van door... chapter-four The door was rudely knocked off it's hinges by Tony's foot. Hee Jun gave Tony a look. "What did you do that for?" Kangta asked. "Just making an entrance." Tony said with a grin. Woo Hyuk didn't flinch, but on the inside he was ranting how careless and stupid of an act that was. They were always too flashy. Kangta just smiled and Hee Jun patted Tony on the back. The customers gave them odd looks as the four entered. "Ok people. This place is officially closed for the day.." Hee Jun said with a smile. "Get out." Kangta added. No one moved a muscle. Tony brought out his gun and ppl began to get up. Woo Hyuk pulled out his gun and shot a glass of water across the room. "Don't move." He said in his cold tone. Everyone froze. "Go back to your seats and enjoy your meals." No one moved. He aimed and shot a fork off the table a few booths away from him. Everyone practically ran to their seats. "What did you do that for?" Tony asked angry. Woo Hyuk just gave him a blank cold stare. "If they leave. Someone will go to the police and we'll have cops swarming the place before we can get what we came for." He said in a monotone voice. Tony dropped his eyes angrily knowing Woo Hyuk was right. "Kangta make sure these nice people enjoy thier meals and don't forget to pay." Hee Jun said motioning for the others to follow. They made their way to the kitchen when the waitress Sue Jung came running out to see what was going on. "Hey baby." Tony said looking her up and down. "What the hell-" She stoped mid-sentence when she saw his gun. "Sit the hell down." Tony said droping the cute act. Sue Jung glared at him before sitting on a stool. Her father came out from the back with a knife he'd been cutting vegetables with. "Hello Park Ahjushi. How are you doing today? Good? that's good to hear. So you're in fine health to pay back your debt to me right? I mean business seems to be doing so good today." Hee Jun said without letting him talk. "What about our door?!" Sue Jung yelled. "Shut up. You have the biggest mouth!" Tony yelled. Woo Hyuk stared blankly wondering how much of a hothead Tony was, and wondered how long it was take to kill him. Or would he just keep talking? "Tony that's no way to talk to a lady. Miss just consider that interest." Hee Jun said turning his attention back to the ahjuhshi. "So I want something today. Because I'm leaving with something." "What are my options?" "Money... or I get the satisfaction of trashing your nice resteraunt." "Anything but that!" "Then pay me." "But I don't have any money." He said looking around frantic. Only Woo Hyuk noticed his eyes trailing to teh knife in his hands. Quicker then any of them could blink Woo Hyuk had his gun to the man's head. "What are you doing Woo Hyuk?" Asked Tony. Woo Hyuk ignored him, his focus was souly on the task at hand. "Put the knife down..." Woo Hyuk saw the ahjuhshi's knuckles white from gripping the knife so hard. "That wasn't a question." The ahjuhshi's hand went to put the knife down when a shot was fired. The only thing Woo Hyuk knew was that his knees were buckling and he was falling to the floor. His face didn't show it, but his body felt all the pain... chapter-five Woo Hyuk gasped for air, but his face remained the same. "Let me get you a doctor." Offered the waitress girl Sue Jung. "No.." Woo Hyuk said standing up. He touched his hand to his side. Bright crimson red blood tainted his fingers. He turned and looked at Tony. "You shot me..." He said plain and simple. "I thought he was going to use the knife." Tony said defending himself. Woo Hyuk was astonished that the idiot had sent a bullet through him. His voice was still void of emotion. "You see old man. He would ruthlessly shoot his own partner. What makes you think he sympathizes with you?" Woo Hyuk then headed for the door. Hee Jun started to follow him. "Get the money." Woo Hyuk said turning both Hee Jun and Tony back. Woo Hyuk walked through the resteraunt when Kangta eyed his wound. "The old guy shot you?!" He asked freaked out. "No... Tony did." Woo Hyuk said going to the van. He sat in the back tending to the bullet wound. Jae Won kept eyeing him through the rearview mirror. Woo Hyuk reached over and picked up a pair needle nose pliars then procceeded to pull the bullet from his side. With a few grunts he had the bloodied bullet in wedged in the pliars. He tossed it to the side with a clunk. He picked up the rag from earlier and pressed it into his side. He wasn't bleeding that bad, and knew he would survive. He was sitting with the cloth to his side when the van door opened. "Are you ok?" Asked Tony reaching out to touch Woo Hyuk's shoulder. "Don't touch me... I'll have to do worse then put a bullet in your side." Woo Hyuk said nodding to the bloody bullet. Tony's eyes widened and he sat as far from Woo Hyuk as possible. Woo Hyuk fell asleep, but could hear everything around him. All the talking... and as always they were talking about him... "This is crazy..." "He got shot, but walked out..." "Like nothing was wrong." "He pulled it out." "By himself." "I watched. He didn't make a noise or cry out." "He's inhuman." "He's valuable." "But what if he decides to cross us?" "Cross us for what?" "You mean who?" "He wouldn't fall in love." "How do you know?" "He wasn't programmed that way..." Woo Hyuk's eyes shot opened at the word programmed. He heard a gasp as if they were watching him as they talked. "Programmed?" He asked in a low voice. "Huh? What are you talking about?" "I wasn't talking to you. Hyung... programmed?" "I meant trained, but the agency of course." Woo Hyuk eyed him for a second. "Did you get the money?" He finally asked. He watched Tony's hand shake as he held the pliars that were covered with his blood. "No. He has a week." "You're too weak. All of you." Woo Hyuk said in a distained voice. "What do you mean weak?" Kangta demanded insulted. "You let your emotions drive you." "At least I have emotions you bastard." Kangta muttered. Woo Hyuk didn't care enough to let Kangta know he heard him. chapter-six Woo Hyuk sat in the back of the van as they headed back for the resteraunt. He was angry that they were stupid enough to let the guy have a WHOLE week to go off and disappear into Korea. Then they would have no money. It wasn't even about the money. It was the fact that would leave a task incomplete because of their ignorance. He didn't even go in. He knew the outcome. The ahjuhshi would still be there, but there would be no money. Woo Hyuk hid the shock on his face as they brought out the girl waitress kicking and screaming. No one on the streets offered to help her. Woo Hyuk sat and watched as they threw her inside. She was tied up and couldn't move. She glared at Woo Hyuk. Unflinching Woo Hyuk went back to clicking parts of his gun. Her stares were then inverted to other places. She looked at Tony and opened her mouth. "Let me go you bastard!" Tony only laughed. "When we get some money from Appa in there. You can go." "Go to hell!" She yelled. "Someone shut her up please?" Asked Kangta. Hee Jun gagged her and her muffled noises could still be heard. "Why do we have the waitress?" Woo Hyuk asked in a cold pissed off tone. "He gets her back when we get our money." "I think you'll all idiots." Woo Hyuk said and went back to playing with his gun. No one felt like challenging him and losing. Sue Jung finally stopped struggeling when she knew she couldn't get free. She recognized the guy already sitting in the van as the one who got shot the week before. She remembered that he walked out like nothing was wrong. Her eyes trailed over the van when she saw a pair of needlenose pliars on the discarded. The end was bloody, with the bullet still lodged in it. She felt sick to her stomach. They'd pulled it out. The guy seemed find though. She felt queasy and shut her eyes falling unconsicous, not even hearing her own labored breathing. "Wake up." Said Hee Jun as he pulled Sue Jung out of the car. She opened her eyes and realized where she was. Sue Jung looked at the house, it was nice. Expensive. Tony let out a loud sigh as they all headed for the door. Sue Jung watched as the Woo Hyuk trailed behind taking his time. She was placed in a room with no window. Tony came up and took the gag off of her. "Rule number one. No screaming. It doesn't matter because we not close enough for anyone to hear. Rule number two... " He scratched his head and shrugged. "Be a good little girl and we'll send you back when Daddy pays." "Fuck you." She said. Tony laughed. "That's not an option. You're bad mouthed. I like to hear my name, not bad language." He laughed as he started to untie her. "Let me go!" "I thought we went through this. Not untill we see money." He finished untying the last rope when Sue Jung sent a swift kick to his groin. Tony buckled over in pain. Sue Jung flung the door open and gasped as she came face to face with Woo Hyuk. "Go sit down." He ordered. The tone of his voice sent chills down her spine. But she wasn't going to show him she was week. "What if I don't?" She asked challenging him. She felt cold steel touching her temple. "I'm not the others. Killing you if not a problem..." Sue Jun turned around and sat on the floor. Tony limped out the room. Sue Jung watched as Woo Hyuk's handsome face disappeared behind the door. Then the click of the lock. His cold attitude made him mysterious, along with his pale complexion... chapter-seven Sue Jung didn't know how long she sat there, or what time of day it was. The room had no windows, and she had no way of knowing what time it was. She sighed and stood up. She kicked the door with all her might. "OPEN THE DOOR!" There was no answer... She thought for a second. "I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM! LET ME OUT!" She heard footsteps. Then the door opened. It was the tall one, Jae Won. "What do you need?" He asked. "The bathroom." She said staring at him. "Hold on." He said shutting the door and locking it again. She heard him walk away then voices talking hyung she has to use the bathroom ... i guess we let her go? what if she tries to get away? the window's not big enough. so we let her go? i guess The door opened and Jae Won stood there with Kangta. Jae Won took her arm and led her to the bathroom. She in the huge bathroom to think how to get out. Finally there was banging on the door. "Hey Girl! Hurry up, you're taking too long." It was Tony's voice. Sue Jung rolled her eyes. Sue Jung made no attempt to leave. "If you don't come out I'm coming in!" He called. Right before he turned the knob Sue Jung flung the door open. "Do I have to stay in that cage of a room?" She demanded. Tony shrugged. "She's allowed to walk around." Hee Jun's voice broke through. "You can try and run, but let's just say taht you won't make it very far." He said with a smile. "You have a call to make." Tony said handing her the phone. "What are you talking about?" She asked with a face of disgust. "You're calling daddy." "What? No." Tony pulled out the gun and pressed it to her temple. Tony dialed the number and pressed the phone roughly to her ear. "Yuhbosaeyo?" "Appa... Sue Jungee aeyo." "Are you ok?" "I'm ok. But Appa, they want money." She said glaring at Tony. Tony snatched the phone. "If you don't pay within a week... say bye bye." Then Tony hung up the phone and tossed it aside. He put his gun away and Sue Jung thought it was her chance. She pushed him aside and ran. Out the door, down the steps... but the land streched on forever... She kept running hearing their voices behind her. Faster she pushed her body to keep going. Her lungs burned for oxygen and a cramp formed in her side. She just kept running... then she tripped and went rolling down a hill headfirst. She came to a stop in a tiny stream, but wasn't conscious to know anything... Woo Hyuk couldn't believe the morons couldn't catch a girl. He shoved his hands in his pockets. They were on a search for her. No clue where she'd run. Woo Hyuk walked over a hill staring at the ground. Then he saw it. A white shirt and dark hair contrasting against the glistening water for the tiny little river/stream. He walked quickly down the hill. Jumping over big rocks and tree roots. He lifted her up. Her face and clothes were smudged with dirt and the side of her temple was bleeding from where she'd hit her head on a rock. Woo Hyuk felt something in his chest, but ignored it as he always did when that feeling came. He picked her up and carried her back to the house. Her clothes were partially soaked and her smooth skin was covered with goosebumps. To Woo Hyuk it was a pathedic site to see her like that. She was so defiant it was unusual to see her quiet. Woo Hyuk decided not to inform the others he'd found her. "Let them keep looking... babodurl." He muttered as he took a cloth and dabbed her forhead wiping away the blood. He covered her with a blanket on the floor of the room without a window. Then he set a glass of water next to her for when she woke up. He didn't know what possessed him to do these things, it felt unnatural and instincitive all at the same time..... chapter-eight "What's going on...?" Woo Hyuk asked himself as he sat in his room. It ticked at the edge of his mind driving him insane. The little feeling that he forced to ignore was begging to pound in his mind. He reached over and turned on his radio. If Woo Hyuk put money into it was music. Music was something that was always perfect. It fit him. It was always perfect and each time he improved a beat or a dance move... it only got better. The music drowned away the feeling that was bothing him. Sue Jung woke up with feeling woosey and sick. She was in the "cell" as she now thought of it. A thin blanket was covering her. A glass of water was near her. She took a sip and cleared her throat. She heard music. She checked the door and it was unlocked. Sue Jung winces as she touched the cut on her forhead. Four of the guys were no where in sight. She followed the music. She opened the door to an almost empty room. Woo Hyuk was in the middle of the floor dancing. He seemed lost in the music. Sue Jung didn't think someone that cold could move so fluently. She was facinated at how empty his room was. A cot on the floor, a dresser, and the stero in the corner. Sue Jung leaned on the door and it swung open slamming against the wall. Woo Hyuk stopped what he was doing and his icy eyes shot towards the door, glaring at her. One look of his eyes and Sue Jung took off down the hall. The house was so big she got turned around, then lost. She turned a corner and ended up running into Woo Hyuk. Banging into him caused her to fall to the ground. "What are you doing running around like a chicken with it's head cut off?" He asked in his cold voice. Sue Jung didn't know why, but she found defying words leaving her mouth. "Well if you didn't act so cold all the time I coudln't be scared for you!" She yelled. "You're scared of me..." He said. For a breif moment Sue Jung thought he was amused by her statement. His face didn't change so she dismissed the thought. "Everyone is! Even those guys you work with! You seem to strike fear into everyone, you act like you have no feelings! You're!... You're!" She began to stumble with her words. "I'm perfect..." He said before walking away. Woo Hyuk walked back to his room. His center was ruined now. She'd seen him weak. She knew what attracted him, but he began to wonder if it was really music that was attracting him now. "Don't be stupid... perfection is all that matters." Woo Hyuk sat on his mat trying to clear his mind of all things that were distracting him. His whole mind was like a warzone. All he could see in his mind was a figure in white and a figure in black.. and they were each fighting for control.... "JANG WOO HYUK!" Came Hee Jun's voice. Woo Hyuk's eyes shot open and he glared at Hee Jun who was standing at his door. They stared at each other not saying a word. "Why didn't you tell us you found her?" "Why were you careless enough to let her run?" Woo Hyuk said, his voice was so cold he saw a tint of fear in Hee Jun's eyes. Hee Jun slammed the door shut, and Woo Hyuk closed his eyes again, but couldn't focus... you strike fear into everyone i am perfect you act like you have no feelings i am perfect i am perfect i am perfect perfection is all that matters... what is perfect.....? chapter-nine Sue Jung didn't know what was going on. The kkang peh durl seemed nervous and jumpy. They shoved her into the cell and locked the door. She pressed her ear to the door when it got quiet.... "Ahnnyunghaseayo." They all said in unison. "Yae..." "Who have you brought with you seungsaengnim?" Asked Hee Jun. "My daughter. I've come to speak with Jang Woo Hyuk." The others cleared the room. Woo Hyuk stood with his arms crossed not have the slightest clue what was going on. He didn't even look at the girl. Girl's weren't a primary interest of his. "This is my daughter, Baek Han Mi." She gave a slight bow. Woo Hyuk didn't move. He made quick eye contact then focused on the wall. "You should give my daughter the proper respect." The seungsaengnim glared. Woo Hyuk stiffly bowed. "Ahn nyug ha sae yo..." He muttered with a cold edge. "You never cease to amaze me Jang Woo Hyuk. I was always very proud of you, even when you were a child. Impressed with your capabilites and attitude." "You shouldn't be impressed with anything. Nothing is ever up to standard." Woo Hyuk said in a low tone. The seungsaengnim only laughed. "Disapline. That's what he can teach you Han Mi." "Excuse me?" Woo Hyuk cut in. "Yes, the reason I've made this vist to your faction. You will marry my daughter." The seungsaengnim observed Woo Hyuk's unsure attitude. "Just think of this as a stepping stone to your perfection. You're true perfection is to be where I am... at the top." Things the seungsaengnim said clicked. Woo Hyuk saw the marriage as a closer step to perfection. "I assume we've reached an agreement." "Yes. Kamsahamnida." Woo Hyuk said bowing, still emotionless. Han Mi was facinated with the handsome guy. The first time she'd seen him was a few years back at a meeting. She'd fallen in love, but he never seemed to notice her. Even now standing right in front of him, he still looked through her, but she was so happy that he was willing to marry her. She was determined to melt the cold icy wall that he surrounded himself with. She was willing to give him her all.... Woo Hyuk unlocked the door to the empty room and went to his room. He shut the door clicking the lock. Then he turned on the stero loud enough to drain out noise. He didn't want to converse with the others. It was none of thier business what he discussed with the seungsaengnim. He did a little move and slipped on the floor falling on his back. His concentration was in a twirl, and nothing seemed to be right, but he thought his decision was the right one... or was it...? chapter-ten Woo Hyuk didn't know if wanted to know, so he got up and started dancing again only to collasped onto his floor. Beads of sweat falling down his face. He stared at the ceiling wondering if he felt happy... he wasn't quite sure. He'd locked a majority of his emotions away a long time ago... He tried to keep them all away, but angry... and determination was always there. He'd come to accept the fact that his determination would always result in anger that he wasn't perfect, or the fact that other people were so stupid. He turned off the stero and went to the bathroom and took a shower. (author's note: -.-;; pervy thoughts.. eh?) Once he was dressed again he felt restless. The others were no where to be found, but WOo Hyuk didn't care to do anything with them. He sat in the living room and stared at the blank television. Suddenly his eyes wondered to the empty room the kept Sue Jung in. Woo Hyuk found himself walking towards the door and placing his hand on the door knob... only to take it any quickly as if it had burned him. "You can't be afraid of a girl..." He muttered to himself. He grabbed the doorknob again the pushed the door open. She was lying on the floor. The blanket and glass of water from his last visit was still in the middle of the floor. She was staring at the ceiling when she sat up and looked at him. There was a moment of silence between them and neither one moved an inch. Finally Woo Hyuk spoke. "You must be hungry." She didn't answer. "Come on. We'll go get something to eat." He didn't wait to see if she followed him. He turned and walked away. He felt her footsteps behind her he found himself smiling, but quickly wiped it from his face. He jumped onto his motorcycle when he looked to see her standing there staring at him. "Are you coming or not?" "... where..." "Just hope on the back." He said in a tone that he used when other people asked stupid questions, only he found himself regretting it. She slowing climbed onto the back. He handed her a helmet and put on his own. "You're going to want to hold on." He said, then he felt her hands hesitantly snake around his waist. He backed up slowly the took off. He found himself enjoying the feel of her pulling tighter to him. He knew he was being careless to indulge in the pleasure of having her hold onto him, but forced himself to slow down as they approached the resteraunt. He was about to walk in when she pulled on his arm. He turned with a look he had when people touched him, but only met with her defying eyes. "I don't want to go in there..." She said in low tone, he felt she was mocking the way he was everyday, but knew he was being stupid. "It's just food. It doesn't matter." "Then don't take me in there." Woo Hyuk ignored her and grabbed her wrist and practically dragged her inside. They were seating and she just glared at him for a second before staring at her glass of water. Suddenly a shrill voice filling the air threatening to burst his ear drums. His face showed nothing, but he had an urge to take the girl and throw her out the window. Suddenly a very tiny girl with hair to her knees came running up. "SUE JUNGIE!" She shreiked. Woo Hyuk saw Sue Jung flinch, but force a smile. "Tae Mi. I haven't seen you in a long time." "Sue Jungie." The girl said in a high voice. "Why haven't you been at your father's resteraunt?" Woo Hyuk saw the flush of embarrassment fill Sue Jung's face. "He said you were away, but obviously you're not."
