"Simple Landfills"

The Simple landfill is the easiest and most economical method for disposing municipal waste. An area is designated where the users simply dump their garbage wherever they can find a spot. It is than buried to a extent possible using a bull bozer or loader. The frequency with which the garbage is buried depends on the size of the population served by the site. An area that does not receive this treatment is an open dump and is illegal.

There is a number of problems associated with the disposing of garbage in this way. Simple landfills are  unsightly, and they smell. They can be the source of disease organisms and breeding grounds for pests like rats, which can spread the disease. They are fire hazards and the smoke from burning garbage can pollutes the air. When garbage is burned, a toxic ash may be left behind. In strong winds, the contents of the landfill can blow across the country, littering everything down-wind. As water passes through the dump site, filtering through the garbage and ash, chemicals, some of which are toxic, may dissolve in the water. this process is called leaching. These  chemical can pollute the surface and ground waters. To get more info visit: www.simple.com
