The above picture was taken Thanksgiving 2001. Psycho Productions pretty much disbanded around 1994 despite the fact that we are all related--we also lived hundreds of miles apart (James and I lived in Nevada, Maryerin, Matthew, and Mark lived in Southern California), and only shot anything when we met up once a year with a VHS camcorder that we'd rent for a day. We never did anything profound with our rented video camera, but we did have a lot of fun. At least Maryerin and I did. To reflect the new era of my "production company", I decided to switch names. Junkpuppet Media is my own personal endeavour, whereas Psycho Productions featured Maryerin much more than myself. Back in the day, she was a comic genius.
To give a little insight into what Psycho Productions accomplished, I'll explain some of the things we did.
- Nothing was really ever scripted, but if it was, we'd just read fromt he script on camera.
- Most of the times, we'd be laughing through our own jokes.
- A big part of our videos was the tours we'd give around the house: people sleeping, people eating, people watching television--exciting stuff
- We created an MTV segment with Maryerin as the host usually.
- Our skits (what there were) were usually introduced by Maryerin and I doing bad impersonations of Wayne and Garth respectively from "Wayne's World".
- Matthew created a character named Slash Regan (you can see him playing the guitar in the Junkpuppet promo) with the face of Ronald Regan and the hair of Slash from Guns N Roses. He was a Christian minister/rock star. Later he would evolve into having the voice of Ross Perot, as well. His first single was "Ode to Jesus". He followed this up the following year with "Ode to Mustard"
- John and Maryerin became Slash Regan groupies on a regular basis as "Bambi and Karma" (A rip off of characters that Jennifer Aniston and Julie Brown played on the short-lived (but really cool) sketch show "The Edge"). Bambi is the one in the Junkpuppet promo, as well.
- Another sketch that spanned a couple videos was "The Gigi and Big Momma Show". John, as Gigi, once again dressed as a girl (this time a gypsy with an afro), shared the stage with Maryerin as Big Momma (a large woman).
