Even though Professor Snape was her HOH, it still sort of freaked her out every time he answered her thoughts...and that seemed to be often.... especially in this class. Wrapping her emerald cloak tightly around her, as she had been in the lower dungeons before... .... the gorgon sped up to catch up with Kathryn and kept close to her. She didn't like it down here, despite being Slytherin...it had an almost equivalent feeling of being watched as the Forbidden Forest. "Kamron, that sounds interesting, perhaps after this little field trip you may enlighten us with the story." Standing before a small door, he said "We are in an area that I would suggest you not travel on your own, we lost a 1st year Hufflepuff once, mind you, we found her, but she no longer attends here due to a nervous condition. Now, we are going to enter into a small hall, and I will continue my lesson there..." He then opened a small wooden door of which he had to duck a bit to go inside. The room was half the size of the Great Hall, and it had a few scattered wooden long tables, an old tattered tapestry on the wall and two other doors, of which neither looked they had been used in ages. The tapestry was dark in color and the design was not clear. Snape pointed to the far wall where he wanted to group to assemble and as they did so, he turned and walked into the center of the hall, raised his hands and closed his eyes and spoke these words..."As-CEN-dere RE-jec-tus spi-RIT-us"! And the room seemed to grow dark, then a greenish swirl of mist started circling the professor and then more greenish mist filled the room floating around the students and tables and such... She looked around the room, it was old and looked as if it had not been used much, even the tapestry on the wall was in disrepair. The tall girl walked to the area where the Professor had indicated for them to gather and waited. After all of the students had gathered in the room, Professor Snape spoke a spell that she had not heard before. A green colored mist began swirling around him and then began to fill the rest of the room. Sera looked over at Jen with a puzzled look on her face as if to ask 'What is he doing?'. The mist made her a bit nervous, especially since she didn't know exactly what was going on. Catching Seraphina's look, the half-gorgon returned it with a shrug, and then moved a little closer to her classmate. Perhaps they would have a chance in large numbers... *She shook her head to clear it. What was she thinking?! Pulling her cloak even tighter (if possible), Jen moved over to a table and sat on top, her feet on the bench that stood as a seat. She saw a tapestry on the wall, but it was so old that it's design was indiscernible. *She turned her head and, with a shiver, realized she was shaking all over. She leaned against the wall as flat as she could as the mist danced and played around the students. She saw JenJen sit and begin to shiver, she went to her and put her arms around her, 'Hang in there and lets just see what is going to happen, you know he wouldn't let anything hurt us." and she tried to give her a reassuring smile. One looked to be a girl of five dressed in Victorian garb, the other was of a woman who seemed to be dressed in more the Edwardian period. The last was another woman, she seemed more the Renaissance time period. They were still somewhat see-through and seemed to float slightly above the ground. Each seemed to stare at the group behind Snape. Then one of the woman spoke, her voice was light and hallow, "Why have you called us here Severus and who are they?" Snape turned to the students, and then back at the three, "These, dear Marybeth are my students." The child ghost seemed to cock her head and peer at the group, she seemed very interested in Jen who had the most dramatic reaction to their appearance. She smiled and say, "Why are you afraid?" (*25 points for Seraphina, Fliss, Kathryn, Deirdre, Jen, Beonca and Ava. Snape had somehow conjured what looked to be spirits, two women and a child stood before them, formed out of the green mist. One of the spirits talked to Professor Snape as if she knew him, and Sera wondered if Snape before had summoned these ghosts. The girl watched as the child apparition looked at Jen, it seemed to be interested in her, but Sera wasn't sure why. Then the child asked Jen why she was afraid. Sera looked over at Jen and could see that she was visibly bothered by what was going on, and guessed that the child had noticed the same when she asked the question. The girl found herself interested in what Snape had done. She wasn't sure if this was some type of dark magic or not, but either way she wanted to know how he had done this. She wondered if you could call upon any spirit when using this spell, and Sera found herself eager to learn more. It was much colder now down here, and the half-gorgon, who sometimes thought she must be partway cold-blooded, did not enjoy it. Please don't talk to me, anymore thought the Junk. Letting her imagination run away with her, the Slytherin then thought about why Professor Snape could have summoned them. Maybe they DIED down here! Or were MURDERED. She didn't want to think anymore, but her imagination really was more than she could stand right now! They could have been summoned to tell us what happens to students who wander to where they are not supposed to be. Or even teachers for that matter! Maybe they were just the first of the lesson, and then the professor would conjure up a couple of demons. Junk was NOT liking the turn her thoughts had gone. The littlest one seemed to take an interest in Jen. She looked at him and then back at the ghosts. She didn't normally act this way around ghosts, but they normally did not come here through green mist either. When you could make out the shapes, Beonca took note of the manner of dress and was pretty interested in the Renaissance one as that was a favorite period of hers...she wondered what now. And then the professor moved a bit out of the way. Then 'Marybeth' the Victorian dressed ghost looked at the group and with a slight smile, she spoke, "I am Marybeth Eliza Pennyworth. I am sure you know that those that pass, often have choices to make...stay, go...some are confused and do not know they are dead and some are too angry to make any decision. However, there is another way...one that has less to do with choice then consequences...thus our status as Severus calls it." She almost looked sad. The little girl ghost began to play with her dress and sat down pulling out a wooden toy from her pocket and began to amuse herself, the other woman just stood there, staring at the group and not saying anything. "Can you think of anything that might cause us to still be here?" She ask with a gentle smile. Snape now turned around and faced the student with a raised eyebrow and a look of 'well?" "Well, I suppose dear, it was drastic." At this she looked down, then back up at the students, "We all, of course, at different times, committed suicide. A most grievous act and not one easily forgiving to moving towards the light or begin accepted anywhere, thus we are bound to a place though it be not where we actually died." She waited until this sunk in, then continued, "You see, even the young are not immune to suicidal thoughts and many mistakenly do so without thinking of the consequences." At this Snape stood up and turned to the class, "This is why the spell cast to conjure them was Latin for ascend rejected spirits. These spirits will roam about and many find others of like circumstances and then travel together. I do not know the other two, but am familiar with Marybeth.." he then turned back to the three of them, "Thank you for coming, I will continue my research and let you know if I find something." and he nodded at her, at which she smiled, blinked and the three were gone. The room seemed a bit warmer now and Snape turned back to the group..."I have been doing research as to a possible spell or charm, or a ritual that will allow them peace...Well...now, shall we return to the classroom" and with that, he turned and began to leave with the class following. "If you have comment or question or wish something cleared up, ask as we head back up." I would not say you are an Empath, per say...but I think you 'feel' the spirit's nature more then others. Yes...a sad tale. They can go neither go forward to the light and are not accepted as spirits who choose to stay about. Somewhat like 'untouchables' as it were." (He had smirked when he said 'wonderful' making it know he thought it not so 'wonderful' then went on..), I will place on the board 6 questions of which you will write and then answer using black ink...now, get your parchment out and begin." A spirit guide is a spirit that can serve a few different purposes. They can act as a go between for the spirit world and the living, and they can be a guide that meets someone that has died to help lead them into the afterlife. 4.) Name one difference between a ghost and a demon. A ghost can be present for many different purposes, but a demon is always evil. 5.) Name one difference between a demon and a zombie? A zombie is a person that is "undead". It still retains and lives in it's original bodied, where as demons are not present in a body, unless they have possessed someone. 6.) Once inside, the goose bumps disappeared and her feelings of foreboding happenings dispelled, as if a fan was blowing it all away in a mist towards the dungeons stairs and to the Castle Grounds. *Now back inside a classroom of which she was familiar and perfectly comfortable in, the half-gorgon settled down in her previous seat and took out parchment, a quill, and an ink well. She dipped her ink into the well before looking up at the board, and then looked over the questions before beginning. She wanted to know them all before she started. *Finally, the Slytherin met parchment with quill and began to write. All thoughts of being able to feel others' feelings without proper or traditional magic had, for the moment, moved to the deepest, darkest chamber of Jen's mind. 1.) A ghost is not a 'soul' but what? It is the spirit that has stayed behind instead of moving onto the next step after death. It is more of a memory of the person it was when alive. 2.) Name a reason a ghost is found around. Ghosts often stay behind when the body they had occupied while alive was murdered. This is a great injustice, and the spirit does not feel right moving on. 3.) What is a 'spirit' guide? It is a spirit that mediums may use as a go-between from this world to the next, and make it easier to communicate with spirits. 4.) Name one difference between a ghost and a demon. Ghosts are mostly benign or at least not evil. They do not mean to harm in any way; most are just lost or have a reason for staying behind. A demon, however, practically feeds on hurting others. It is their job as well as their pleasure. They are evil, plain and simple. 5.) Name one difference between a demon and a zombie? Both are serving higher, more evil powers, but demons can think for themselves. Zombies, who are also called ?the living dead,? are completely, one-hundred percent controlled. 6.) Why cannot the 3 ghosts we met in the lower dungeons move on? They had committed suicide, which is considered a completely unforgivable sin. A ghost is the remnant of memories of a once-living being. Sometimes a wizard can actually choose to leave a part of them behind. 2.) Name a reason a ghost is found around. There are many reasons why a ghost can be find around, a great injustice, suicide, tragic circumstances are just to name a few. 3.) What is a 'spirit' guide? A spirit guide is something that helps guide spirits to the afterlife. 4.) Name one difference between a ghost and a demon. A demon is simply evil in every core of their being, a ghost isnt. 5.) Name one difference between a demon and a zombie? A zombie is the body of a dead corpse, with no brain or thinking it is used by higher evil to do its bidding. A demon is evil that thinks for itself and has its own evils to commit. 6.) Why cannot the 3 ghosts we met in the lower dungeons move on? Because they couldn?t handle life they committed suicide. The 'imprint' moves and acts just like the living person did...except for not being able to eat and walking through walls of course. 2.) Name a reason a ghost is found around. -A ghost may be found either because it used to be a magical person and chose to become a ghost or has some task left to finish on earth before they can leave in peace. 3.) When the Slytherin HOH continued to walk down an unknown staircase that went even lower Kathryn picked up the pace. It was cold but she was curious to see where they were going. |
