This site is fairly new. I am in the process of writing it so don't expect the menu to fully work. The content will probably change quite often as well.

"Lisp is the cockroach of programming languages: it'll be the only one left after the apocalypse." Paul Snively

Our views and outlook are taken from other people, but our ability to question comes from within.

Lisp receives a bad press from many. Here is a definition from a respected computing/multimedia dictionary:
Lisp is a symbolic language with a reputation for being hard to learn; popular in the academic and research communities.
So anybody just starting to learn a programming language should steer clear of Lisp all together especially if they are not an egghead?
Don't be too quick to judge something you have never tried before and never listen to anything that sounds like propaganda. Programming in general is difficult, but if you have a passion for it then you should explore as many programming language STYLES (functional, procedural etc...) as early as possible. You will soon realize for yourself if a language style is too difficult to master.

I think you could surprise yourself with Lisp given the right resources.
Here is a list of what you will need:

A Free Lisp Programming Environment
http://www.lispworks.com

A Free PDF Book (one of many, but what I consider the most fundamental)
Common Lisp - A Gentle Introduction to Symbolic Computation

Also Consider:

This book (or PDF) released in 2005 takes you through Lisp with practical examples. Readers might need a little programming knowledge prior to reading this one.
Practical Common Lisp - Peter Seibel

There is a whole bunch of resources for learning Lisp at all levels and new ones are always being released. Of course you don't have to take notice of my recommendations. A quick search with Google will bring other options to the surface.
