Ghibli is the company which produces the movies by fames anime director Hayao Miyazaki. He has produced and/or directed dozens of movies including. My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Laputa, Nausicca, Princess Mononoke and the Academy Award winning, Spirited Away.
I absolutely ADORE Ghibili movies, so when I found out that there is a Ghibli museum I knew that I just had to go and visit it. It turns out that it is not as easy as I though it would be.
First of all, only 1600 people are allowed into the museum every day. You also have to buy the tickets in advance at the Lawson Store (It is like a 7-11). I didn't think that it would be too crowded, so Enishi and I went to a Lawson during the first week of July to buy two tickets for August. My heart almost broke when we were told that the entire month of August was already sold out! Luckily Enishi kept her cool and asked about tickets for July and we ended up buying the last two tickets for that month. You have NO idea how relieved I was.
Visitors are allowed into the museum in two hour intervals starting from 10am until 4pm. Enishi and I got the 4pm tickets and since the museum closes at 6pm we had 2 hours to see everything there is to see.
For only 1000 YEN (a little less than $10), the musem is a wonderful deal and if you like Ghibli movies I HIGHLY recommend the place.
