All in a Days work

Its 4:30 in the morning, the pot of coffee is on as you geared up to go fishing on the river just down behind your cabin..... Sound familiar? If you are going after trout this spring there are a few things you remember!

1. Lures! If you are planning a fishing trip there is a couple things you should keep in mind... You can never bring too many different types of lures! They are going to be what gets you the fish in the frying pan! When I go fishing I bring my little tackle box containing three or four dressed Panther Martins, in Copper and red, brown trout, and Gold. Then one floating and one sinking Rapala, in fire tiger and rainbow trout, and finally I top it off with a bunch of bait hooks and a handful of worms or jigs. Remember try a new tactics every twenty minutes, you will eventually find the recipe for success!
2. Line! You usually wouldnt think that line is a key part of catching more fish, but it is! The fact is the line affects how well the line casts, how well you land a fish, so on and so forth. So go out and get some good monofilament line. It makes a difference.
3. Rod, depending on what fish you are going after, and in what terrain, the rod can have a big impact on the accuracy of your cast, as well as how well you can set the hook. Obviously for sneaking through the bushes to get to that one trout stream you have always wanted to try, a big and cumbersome rod would be far from ideal. In that situation a small light action 6' rod would be great or even a telescoping type rod. Whereas if you were on a lakeshore for pike and rainbows a longer medium action rod would be the best choice for those longer casts.
4. Of course the forth and final element for a fishing set-up is a reel. It really comes down to personal preference but, whichever style you end up with make sure it is well maintained and wont let you down.
If you follow these few easy steps I can guarantee that you will have less breakdowns and more success. Tight lines, and good luck fishing!!
