My Favorite Stands

Around here in south Alabama, there are many different types of stands,
And much different terrain's to put them on.  You have Shooting houses,
Tripods, Ladder stands, Ground blinds, Climbing stands and thousands of different brands.  Also, you have many different locations to put these stands.  Huge hundred acre crop fields, big, small, and medium sized clear cuts, Thick woods, Open hardwood bottoms, and Pine plantations.  Any kind of terrain you want can be found in Alabama.  In this article I am going to profile my three favorite stands and their locations, and the names we have given them, everyone knows no stand is complete without a name.  Like I said earlier we have ALL types of stands on the nearly Five hundred acres I hunt.

Favorite Stand/Location #1

This would have to be the "Clear cut tripod on the 60" stand (Don't ask about the name) It's a twelve ft. tripod with a shooting rail all the way around it, over looking a fifteen acre clear cut, with two green patches on each side. This is the place I killed my first deer at, a big South Alabama seven pointer.  The clear cut was planted in pines two years ago, and makes the perfect bedding place, and with food so near by your almost always guaranteed to see a deer.  This stand has a lot of good memories with it, and a lot of good deer nearby!

Favorite Stand/Location #2

This is the "Field behind the little pond stand" or "Little Pond stand"
This is a 1-in. metal tubing stand twenty-ft. with a good shooting rail
on it.  It over looks a ten-acre clear cut, with a green field to the
left, and a pine plantation to the back.  There is also a pond about twenty yards into the woods from the green patch.  This is a very heavily used area as it offers bedding, water and food all in the same small place.  I have killed one doe from this stand and have had a couple of friends kill some nice bucks.  The longest shot you will have will be about two hundred yards across the clear cut.  This area holds some nice deer as there are scrapes all around and pawed places.

Favorite Stand/Location #3

This is simply "The Pond" it is a shooting house overlooking a green
field straight across the water and one to the left of the stand. The pond is just a small beaver pond built on a little branch, But theirs nothing little about the buck sign around here, and the deer activity.  The shooting house is about a five-by-five with a two-by-four frame, and paper mill felt for the outside.  It has plenty of room for two people and we keep two lawn chairs in it all the time.

This has been a profile of
of some of my favorite and
                 and most productive stands
                 maybe not perfect, but my
                 favorites out of many.
