My Ideal Pistols
By Clyde Murphy

This will be an article on my ideal pistols.  I will break these down
Into categories

Hunting

Target

Collectible

For my hunting pistol I will have to pick the single action Ruger Super Blackhawk, 44. Mag 7" SS with rosewood grips. This gun has power and reliability on its side.  This will be a great deer gun out to about 75-100 yards, the weight of the pistol is fairly heavy, but it has great balance,
so it is easy to hold and to carry.  Also I like to carry this gun on those spot and stalk hog hunts in case he comes in close on me,  I'll always be confident with the 44. At my side.

My ideal target pistol will have to be the Colt Woodsman auto 22. With the 6 1/2 Heavy barrel this is a very accurate little gun; I get excellent groups with it out to about 75 yards and the 22. Cal. is really fun to shoot.
Anything from crows to rats to turtles this little gun can handle them in a snap.  This is my walkabout gun for when I'm just walking through the woods enjoying the day.

For my ideal collectible pistol, the Colt 1911 gets the nod.  There is just something that fascinates me about the straight GI 45ACP.  This is a rugged and reliable pistol and worth a good deal when it is in good shape.
These guns have seen service from WWII straight on through the Gulf War.  With military hardball ammo don't expect to get good results on game, but just try some JHP you'll be in for a great surprise, wonderful expansion and penetration. This round is also adequate for deer sized game at short ranges.

These have been my ideal pistols, Maybe not the nicest of pistols, but they would be what I would pick for my favorites.  As the saying goes "One mans garbage is another mans gold"
