SENSER'S SWEEPS TO END SEASON;
FINISH YEAR 4 GAMES OVER .500

2001 and 2002 Senser's Bar Performer of the Year
ROSEVILLE, MN- On a beautiful Roseville evening, Joe Senser's put a nice cap on a successful season, sweeping last-place A.N.I.T. by the scores of 14-3 and 12-11. "Although I bitch a lot about the players, I'm really proud of these guys," manager Pete Fanucci said as he addressed the throng of fans after the final out was recorded. "Now let's hurry and get to the bar so we can win some money with those tickets." Indeed, Senser's didn't waste any time in the first game, as pitcher Brette Hjelle took a perfect game into the 4th en route to a Senser's rout. Speed demons Dan Hinrichs and Eastiro both swatted inside-the-park home runs to pace the offense. Jeff "Trash" Rosner added a triple and the newly married Mike Kennedy "got to second base" on a hit; he also "scored" twice in the game.
After such a brilliant performance in the first game, Senser's laissez-faire attitude in the nightcap almost cost them a win. "I told Ellen before I left, we'll probably 10-run those guys the first game and lose the second," Kennedy said as he said goodbye to Mrs. Kennedy. Indeed, after a 4-run first, Senser's decided to play musical fielding positions, allowing A.N.I.T. to claw back into the game. "I knew we were in big f--kin' trouble when that gay ponytail focker parked one," Mike Biebl said with a buffalo wing in his mouth. "Those sons of bitches were really pissing me off." After A.N.I.T. tied it at 6 after the 5th, Senser's doubled their score with a sixer in the 6th...and they promptly gave back most of that rally in the bottom half. Fortunately for the blue, A.N.I.T. went quietly in the 7th and Senser's hung on to a 12-11 win. "I wouldn't have wanted to be at the bar with those guys if they would've lost that one," fan Susan Hansen quipped. "I would've been driving Hocking's drunk ass home again for sure."
The tickets were cold once again at the bar, as the UST waitress once again cast her spell on the team. (Ed. note: Next Thursday, on the Senser's volleyball court, we will be testing if she's a witch by seeing if she weighs the same as a duck.) The team only managed five spins, two of which were zonks. However, 2001 Boone's Farm Fan of the Year Jayme Forstrom made a strong challenge at defending her title by banking $50 on her only spin. The spin bumped Renae Siewert out of the #2 fan spot, but she was unable to catch Hansen, who completed a wire-to-wire win of the 2002 Boone's Farm. "She's an intense one, that tall girl," the MC of the Senser's Beach Party quoted. "I've seen her throw elbows to be one of the first 5 ladies up at the wheel and trash talk the fellahz during the events...she deserved to be #1." Siewert ended the season with the bronze medal, barely nudging out Lindsay Vedder. Hinrichs defended his Bar Performer of the Year title, holding off Biebl in a close race. The only comment Biebl offered after receiving the silver beer mug was, "that f--kin' wheel. Piece of s--t." Pete Fanucci finished in 3rd.
So that's that. Another season of Senser's ball in the books. There will be a couple more softball-related parties to come, including the big blast at Senser's.
Swelvax Player of the Week:
Mike Biebl. The only member of the Senser's squad to play all 20 games, Biebl illustrated the dedication that manager Fanucci will certainly reward in the off-season.
MVMP, presented by Mike Biebl:
Brette Hjelle. Struck out looking, doubling the team's strikeout total for the year.
2002 Season Awards:
Swelvax Player of the Year: Dan Hinrichs. In a tight race all the way to the end, Hinrichs's performance at the bar ended up being the deciding factor in edging out Ryan Thomas and Jeff Rosner. Batting average was tight too...had Hock's average been one point lower or Trash's one higher, there would've been a tie for the Swelvax between Hinrichs and Thomas.
MVMP of the Season: Bill Remick. Bar performance led to this distinction for Mr. Remick, but as a father-to-be, one can hardly fault him. Will Kennedy follow Remick's lead for next season??
Boone's Farm Fan of the Year: Susan Hansen. Hansen jumped out to the lead in the first week of the season and didn't relinquish it, finishing #1 in bar appearances and in wheel winnings.
