ROSEVILLE, MN - An air of desperation surrounded Team Senser�s on Thursday evening. Needing the all-important sweep to return the team to the respectable .500 mark for the year, manager Fanucci sat the team down prior to the first pitch of game 1 and stated with elegance, �Alright team, we have not swept anyone in a fortnight, let�s go out there and kick some butt, hustle to your positions and show them what we have�if we don�t sweep tonight, I will resign as head coach.� Hardly anyone batted an eye at the latter comment, but those who were paying attention quickly snickered at Fanucci on his usage of the word fortnight.
Senser�s was the home team in game 1 and withstood an early charge from their opponents as they burned their homerun in the first inning. Jeremy Kletzin was on the mound and was not fazed by their early display of power. �I layed that one in there just perfectly� Kletzin was heard to tell Brunsie behind the plate. Fighting the inconsistent strike zone the entire evening, Kletzin pitched a steady game, only walking a few batters and generating a lot of ground balls. Ryan Riesetter, at shortstop, was the benefactor of a number of those ground balls. �I need some spikes,� Ryan was heard to say following a particularly harrowing play at short, �anyone want to chip in and help me pay for them?� A donation is being taken at Senser�s right now. Senser�s never wavered in maintaining their lead during the game, steady defense and timely hitting accounted for their 15-9 victory. Others were heard to say that it was in fact the play of Mike Clark at second that saved the game for Senser�s. Clark, a more-than-capable outfielder, was forced to play the infield due to his arm feeling �slightly more jiggly than jello� after a pitching outing with his other less significant baseball team. Pete(r) �Ole� Fanucci was forced out of his comfort spot at second and into an inning in the outfield, third base, catcher, grounds crew and bench manager. Never to complain, manager �Ole� just �do[es] what the team needs�just win baby.�
If this reporter did not know better, I would have thought that Carl Hubbel and Christy Mathewson were on the mound for game 2. A pitchers duel to the Nth degree, Kletzin battled the opponent and came out on top of a 5-2 ballgame. �I have not seen a softball game like this in years,� Ryan Thomas was heard to say after the game. Senser�s collected a measly 2 extra base hits in the contest, stranding more than 10 runners on base. �If it was not for my stretches at first, I think we would have lost this one,� Mike Kennedy commented at the bar. His defense at first did save a gaggle of runs on some not so accurate infield tosses. The outfield played to the best of their abilities as well in game 2, stopping numerous charges by the opponents with key running catches and heads up plays. Thomas led the way in the outfield, using his vocal cords to claim ownership to flyballs coming his way. This vocal outburst of �ball, ball, ball� by Thomas frightened Eric Lindholm, who suffers from an acute form of laryngitis when flyballs are hit his way. Lindholm also garnered the nickname of �Suicide� for his reckless and dangerous play in the outfield. At one point in the contest, �Ole� called to Lindholm in leftcenter �Hey Suicide, call the ball!� which resulted in a retort of �Hey manager, f*#% off!�
Senser�s plays again on Thursday, June 19th at 6 and 7pm on Central Park Field # 1.

Ryan Riesetter � playing without spikes for yet another week, Riesetter nearly hit for the cycle over the doubleheader. He lacked only a double in his 5-7 performance, including a 2-run homer and a homer-O. He played brilliantly in the field, using his cannon for an arm to stop the opponents dead. When asked about how he came about such a good arm, he shyly replied that he �was blessed with it.� How appropriate.
