ROSEVILLE, MN- Finally, Senser's was able to play a game with the sun out and the temperature above 45. Fittingly, the bats also started smokin', as the blue plated six runs in the top of the first en route to their fourth consecutive 10-run victory, a 15-5 romp over the clowning Raiders. "I haven't seen a team like that since intramurals '98," pitcher Brette Hjelle said at the bar after the game. "I mean, they've got guys leaning into inside pitches, people dancing the Hustle after they get a hit, and what the hell was the deal with that celebration after that solo dong?" "Cripes, that guy who hit the home run acted like he just won Game 7 of the World Series," Mike Kennedy said after the blast brought the Raiders within 4. "What an assclown." Senser's did have one minor hiccup during the game, when "There are some who call me..." Tim Bruns struck out swinging on a nasty changeup in the first. "Yeah, that was pretty bad, but at least it wasn't against Fat Scooby," Bruns chuckled from the bench. "Maybe their pitcher really was that Rick guy that those jokers were talking about." Senser's ended the first game with a bang, as the bats came through with a 6-run fifth to set up the 10-run win, and shortstop Denny Hocking came up with an unbelievable glove play to end it. "That was probably the best softball play I've ever seen," Kennedy said after the game. "Honestly, I had no idea I could actually get to that ball," Hock said. "After I caught it I still wasn't thinking, and then I heard Pete yelling from second for the double play. That play was pretty damn fun."
Senser's continued the Web Gems in the second game, a much closer affair than the first. "I really like the way our D has come together," manager Pete Fanucci. "If we D up like that the rest of the year, we're going to be really tough. Web Gems from the second game included a sweet scoop by Kennedy on a wild throw by third baseman Ryan Thomas, a nice double play turned by Fanucci on a comebacker to Hjelle, and a sweet relay play from Trash Rosner to Hinrichs to Bruns to nail a runner at the plate. Still, despite the fabulous defense, Senser's held only a 6-5 lead going in to the bottom of the 5th. The mysterious silence of the bats can be directly linked to Ryan Thomas failing to reach base for the first time in 24 at bats this year in the 2nd inning by flying out to left center. "That's it, Thomas better be batting 10th next week," last year's manager Eastiro said. "We can't be having outs out of that guy, that's all there is to it." In the bottom of the 5th, manager Pete Fanucci once again put the team on his surgically repaired shoulder, starting and ending a game-winning 9-run rally, giving Senser's another 15-5 win and their 5th 10-run win in a row. Fanucci had quite the night, going 0-for-0 in the first game with 3 walks, then going 3-for-3 in the nightcap. "That's right, just hop on when you wanna win," Fanucci yelled into a videocamera after his game-winning hit. "You don't want to be yelling for me to swing the bat, 'cause I'll light you up every time."
With the 6:00 game, Senser's was able to get to the bar in plenty of time for lots of ticket drawings and potential winnings on the wheel. Susan Hansen put some major distance between her and the rest of the fans by coming through with a $50 win on the final spin of the night; additionally, she won $5 earlier on the qualifying spin. "That's nice to get some room with the tough competiton for the fan title," Hansen said as she slapped her $50 toward the bar tab. "It's going to take some good spinning to catch me now." There were 10 other spins on the night, 6 of which resulted in wins. #1 bar performer Mike "F--kface" Biebl fell on his face with a big zonk, paving the way for Hocking to take #1 with a Jim Beam hat win. "Really, it wasn't that big of a win," Hock said over a beer. "Did you hear what my girlfriend said? 'No action if you're wearing that hat.' At least it counts in the stats." Other players weren't too shocked that Biebl lost the #1 bar ranking. "I'm not really surprised that Biebl zonked," Christian "Wet Newspaper" Peterson said after the big loss. "That's because Biebl's gay." Ryan Thomas agreed, although he was quite subdued after his big out on the night. "I should be at the cage right now," Thomas lamented. "Now that 1.000 OBA is gone forever...I bet Rick has a 1.000." A major dispute was put forward by Fanucci, as he disputed Eastiro's absence from the bar. "This guy was at the bar all the time last year, and now he's not here? That's highly disputed. It's amazing what a little pu--y will do to a guy, I guess."
The next game goes down on Field 3 against Waconia Arctic Cat at 8:00. It will be a challenge for Senser's to match the $242 tab from last week- $182 gets the team to the $1,000 mark.
Swelvax Player of the Week:
Dan Hinrichs. In addition to the diving catch and the relay to nail a guy at the plate, he went 5-for-7 with a double, earning the Swelvax in a tight vote.
