The first martial art I studied was Aikido at the Yoseikan Budo center in Hamilton Ontario. I studied up to the level of a green belt under a Japanese instructor. I learned a profound sense of respect for the peace philosophy of the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba The next martial art I studied was Tai Chi Chuan at a center in Ottawa, Ont. I practiced Tai Chi here for two years with a student of the late Master Lee Shiu-pak,. I continued to study Tai Chi with many teachers and centers for the next ten years. For one year during this time I studied Shotokan Karate, up to the green belt level. For about half a year each I studied Shaolin Kung-fu and Wing Chun. I also became very interested in Oriental theories of medicince and I studied very deeply into the Macrobiotics of George Oshawa, Qi Qong and Taoist Healing.
